I visited NYC a number of times when you lived there in the 80’s and felt safe walking at late night in that neighborhood. I was young and fit and walked fast. Never encountered any problem. Stupid lucky?

The only thing I would say is consider the sources. A.I. and Wikipedia. I am an historian and for anything I publish I check census data, birth and death certificates and other primary sources. I would never rely on the sources you cited.

You wrote Pres. Tyler was 70 when he had his last child, in 1860. This son had his last child when he was 75. That would be in 1935, not 1928. Why the discrepancy?
-
To be clear, his child’s last grandchild. Not Tyler’s last grandchild.

My grandfather, a Canadian, was born 9 years after the Civil War ended. He remembered Union soldiers returning home by cris-crossing south western Ontario. Some were heading west and some east. Southern Ontario offered the shortest route. My great grandmother fed them when they called at their house.

Isn’t it funny what details we remember from such brief encounters!

How old are you? I stayed in a b&b on Jane St down near the Hudson in 1997. The host was a retired actor and playwright in NYC. The street was very nice, old brownstones and the people held a street party for my host that weekend as he was turning 75. Perhaps 50 years earlier it was dicey but so was the whole lower west side before the gays moved in. North of there the meat packing district was rough but became gentrified later. I went back two times, once in 2001 after 9/11 and in 2019. Both times the place was as nice as I remembered it in 1997. In the first visit I went out to dinner with the b&b host with my sister. The last visit he was no longer alive. So I just walked the street reliving the memories.

I reread your experience with Angel and surmise from the details you gave that the two of you were not a good fit. This has happened to me occasionally but I don’t write negative reviews because I realize others have enjoyed their experiences. I just don’t repeat. Also when a new one asks for a photo I usually send one although I ask for a face pic in return if it is not on their site. They usually comply.

I went to a boys school starting in grade 7 when puberty was just occurring for many of us. Elementary school had not prepared me for this new environment as at the previous school we had no showers after gym. In this new school sports was emphasized which I knew as my two older brothers were ahead of me there in the high school section of the school. In the junior school I was separated from my brothers so had to navigate the new environment by myself. Having communal showers and being naked in the locker room was the standard practice. We had many teachers as coaches and the gym teacher too was involved in supervising showers. They never joined in the showers but were in the looker room and saw everyone naked. There were one or two teachers who the boys gossiped about being queer. This was in the 1950s but even then kids were ruthless in commenting on older men who had any effeminate mannerisms.

The two posts by a “guest” said virtually the same thing. Maybe they were different clients with a grudge or maybe they were a competitive provider trying to damage the rep of the provider who has great reviews here and on RM.
-
Several respected and credible members here have given him high praise for their experiences in contrast to one “guest” who has dissed him twice. Once is understandable but going back and expecting a different result!!!??
-
Were there no other coaches at the school at that time for different sports? If so wouldn’t the students have talked about this guy if he was the only one showering naked with the students?

I add the imo when I know the opinion I am expressing is only one of many on a particular subject I am opining on. I read voraciously so I am aware of others’ opinions on many subjects. I like to think mine are superior of course.
-
You said the same thing last year. Why did you repeat ?

They explain why this a ball is better in the video. At least that’s the concept they are working on. Trials with humans still need to be completed.

My only travel plans are to go to Toronto this weekend where there are some terrific hotel deals. But the cost of getting there is going to be higher as gas prices have spiked. 😞

Our friend Alex flow has posted travel plans to the UAE for Mar 18 to 25. We’ll have to see how that works out.
-
My impression is that the resumption of limited flights is to get people out, not to have holiday makers (or escorts for that matter) visit the UAE at this time.
-
Checking just now on the British official site for travel, they are advising against all but essential travel to the UAE. They also warn travel insurance could be invalidated if travel undertaken against advice of the Foreign Office.

It’s still a largely unpredictable war where the future direction is murky at best. Flights can be canceled on a dime so anyone flying into a war zone is taking a large gamble.

He lists Dubai as an upcoming trip in a week’s time. Guess he is not an avid reader of the news.

Yes, now I can handle virtually any size and thickness. But it took years of practice, decades really when I look back. It’s not something I always look for but every once in a while I get that itch.

What is that old expression of fishing in troubled waters!

How long till Dow Jones hits 40,000 and S&P 5,000?
Luv2play replied to marylander1940's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
Well the Dow ended up at 47500 on the week. Where will it go next? My guess is down. -
I heard on the radio the other day that Keurig doesn’t actually provide their own brand of coffee in their pods. They just package some generic coffee. However they are going to start offering their own brand soon apparently. I don’t consume their product in any event so couldn’t care less.
