I searched for other topics on this and found nothing. Apologies if this repeats a prior thread topic. I'm curious about people's thoughts about fresh meal kits that get delivered to your home. Not delivered groceries from your local grocery store but services such as Freshly, Hello Fresh, Green Blender & Blue Apron. If you have tried any of these services, what are your impressions of the freshness, quality, taste, and ease of preparation? Positive and/or negative comments are more than welcome. I haven't used any of them but am giving some consideration to this for mom and me. Currently we buy groceries and cook at home 4-5 nights a week. 2-3 nights a week I order out and bring it back home. Mom likes freshly prepared home meals but we don't really like all the preparation. Hence we're thinking about these meal kits. All contributions are welcome.

I made no indication that I was predicting what the future holds for the US or Canada or transnational contagion going forward. I was responding to an incorrect assertion that the deaths experienced to date were comparable between the two countries once numbers were adjusted for population. They aren't comparable. Canada has approximately half the overall COVID death incidence versus the US...as of yesterday. That is significant. What the future holds for those numbers is anyone's guess.
-
I've looked at the numbers fairly closely today. Canada's reported COVID-19 deaths are running at just over half the US rate when adjusted for population. I then isolated out the key hotspot area for each country. For the US, I removed the numbers for NY/NJ/CT and for Canada, I removed the numbers for QC. The results are even more stark with Canada deaths being less than half of the US deaths when adjusted for population. Anyway you look at it, Canada is faring much better than the US in terms of COVID-related deaths. Their rate is +/- half the US rate. To me that is quite meaningful. I do agree with your comment that international travel will be difficult and will recover slowly.

RealAvalon thanks for your extensive response. I'm sure Trudeau will come under heavy pressure from Trump to normalize border traffic. I would encourage the PM to do what he thinks is the best thing for Canada and not allow himself to be bullied by our dictator. Your comment about weaknesses with the long-term care system has been an issue in many countries....including in Europe. I agree this will be debated in many places going forward.

Well it seems we're all over the place on this with some of us continuing to have cleaning lady visits and others not. If it were just me, I would be OK having them come. However, mom is 92. Michigan has been hard hit by COVID and given mom's age, I just can't take the chance. Thanks for everyone's contributions!

Mom and I have a cleaning lady team come in twice a month in normal times. We have opted to not have them come clean since the beginning of March(due to COVID concerns) but we are still paying them anyway. I'm sure others on this board have a cleaning lady come in as well and maybe you have temporarily stopped the service. If so, are you still paying them? The same amount as always? More? Less? We're paying the normal amount even though they are not coming. I was curious if that is in line with the norm.

I never said the story was crazy. It could well be true. My point is I wouldn't give a second thought to anything appearing in either of those two rags. If legitimate/trusted media starts covering the story, I'll pay attention.

I would take anything published in the Daily Telegraph or Breitbart with a grain of salt. I did get a huge laugh at reading the comments posters made following the Breitbart article. What a load of crazies. It just shows what kind of readers your dealing with in these right-wing extremist media organizations. Everything is a conspiracy! It was all planned! It's all a hoax! I'll believe the story when a respected paper covers it.

I agree with you. We don’t know if warmer weather impacts transmissibility. It’s just a theory which is as of yet unproven. BTW, during my working years, I travelled to Guayaquil 10-15 times. You’re right. It’s very hot and humid year round...yet they have had a heavy impact from COVID. It’s likely that many factors explain why some areas get hit very hard and others don’t. It seems pre-existing health conditions, obesity, housing density, social norms/habits, precautions taken could all be factors. Weather might be a factor...or not. We just don’t know enough.

I think its too soon to know what the impact of states re-opening will be. I would wait 4 more weeks to see how states like GA/FL/TX are doing in terms of hospitalizations and deaths. Let's also remember that, like other viruses, this one may transmit less effectively in warmer months. There may be a natural decline in infections during the summer due to the warmer weather. How do you tell if an improvement in the COVID situation in June/July/August is due to re-opening more cautiously versus merely being the result of warmer weather impeding transmission?

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I agree that BC is an interesting case as to why the COVID incidence and death rates are comparatively so low. I also share your concern about Trudeau caving to pressure from Trump on expanding cross-border travel too quickly. I can imagine Canada wanting to be very cautious about re-opening the border with the US. It will be an interesting one to watch.

Canada has had a somewhat milder experience with the COVID-19 pandemic....certainly as compared with the US. Montreal appears to be the hotspot for the nation The province of Quebec accounts for 61% of all the COVID deaths in Canada. Total COVID deaths in the country stand at 5,782 versus 89,932 deaths so far in the US. What is the honest Canadian perception of the COVID situation in the US? Is the average Canadian concerned about the eventual opening up of travel between the US and Canada? When do you personally feel that travel between the two countries will be relaxed?

Thanks for that Tweety!

For those of you that are fans of dancer Malik, he has done a recent solo scene on men.com. Stock dancer Jay has also done a solo scene on the same site.

I can't stand anything by Taylor Swift. I find her very irritating. -
They have been open for takeout since April. On Monday they will re-start "dine-in" with limited seating.

First Thing You'll Do After Shelter In Place Eases?

Mom and I went out for a drive today. We're still in total lockdown here in Michigan. I don't see things being truly safe for months. We did pick up pizza for dinner tonight and it was good. There is political pressure to open things up...that doesn't mean things should be opened up. I see this going on for months. Sorry!! -
I watched Anderson Cooper 360 tonight. It was so cute. Each guest congratulated him on his new son. So adorable. So happy for him.

We have been hearing the story of Lori Vallow and her husband for months. Two missing children. Vallow and husband flee to Hawaii only to be extradited to Idaho weeks later. Two dead former spouses (both deaths considered suspicious). Lori's brother has also died and his death is being investigated Now reports of Lori's sister having died in 1998 with the cause unknown. Also, at least one other suspicious death in their orbit. Yet Lori Vallow and husband refuse to talk. Vallow claims her 7-year-old and 17-year-old children are alive but refuses to provide further information. Is she (and later her husband) behind all these deaths? No answers yet, but it seems something has to break eventually. Such a crazy story. I think Dateline will be doing an update program. https://people.com/crime/the-sister-of-lori-vallow-whose-kids-are-missing-died-mysteriously-in-1998-report/

Add me to the list of guys that never had a wet dream. I guess I discovered masturbation early and I did it often (just like votingo_O) enough that my body did not require wet dreams to vacate excess ejaculate. Anyway, now at 60, I doubt I will be having a wet dream in the future. Oh...and showering after a wet dream? Sounds silly. I never showered after masturbating in bed. Just cleaned up with a towel or some tissue and went back to sleep. I would have done the same thing if waking up after a wet dream.

I watched the Stock studio show last night on their membership website. They have a new format for the studio shows where DJ/Webmaster Anthony now does a 15 minute or so interview portion first where he asks the dancer a number of questions. It's fun and different. That is followed by the dancer teasing the web audience by stripping and then masturbating to till the moneyshot. Did I mention that the show is done live?!? I really enjoyed the first show with Tommy. Great body and really nice guy. His friend dancer Frank also made a quick special appearance. The second dancer was Nick. Also fun although I did not see that one through to the end. One thing to note is that, unlike previously, the dancer no longer interfaces on-line with the chat crowd responding to their questions directly. That seems to have been replaced with Anthony's interview with the dancer. Anyway, small changes but I enjoyed the new format.
