What a mess. 17 cruise ships currently off Florida and not being allowed to dock. Some have only crew on board others still have passengers. Some have sick people on board. US Coast Guard no longer wants to take responsibility for evacuations nor allow docking and de-boarding. Some(Many?) of the vessels are Bahamian-flagged (even though they belong to US cruise lines) and some ships are being directed to seek help from the Bahamas. Some ships being told they may need to remain sequestered offshore indefinitely. COVID-19 may destroy the cruise industry. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/coast-guard-tells-cruises-to-prepare-to-care-for-sick-people-for-indefinite-period/ar-BB11ZoEY?ocid=spartanntp

Travel getting back to normal is many months away.....perhaps a year or more. Covid-19 cases and deaths will taper off to some degree in May/June but it will still be around. We will have to be vigilant and keep our guard up through the summer. Social distancing will still be a thing. All the experts predict the virus will likely return somewhat as the weather gets cooler in the Northern Hemisphere fall. Countries should be better prepared at that point as far as earlier isolation of affected people and their contacts so the toll in lives lost should be lower. However the normal precautions for the general public will still be practiced. I won't be booking any plane/train/cruise ship travel until we see what is happening in November/December with COVID-19 round two.

Gas Prices in Your area, Let's hear about it.
EZEtoGRU replied to Talvin DeMachio's topic in The Lounge
In small-town Michigan, current gas price is around 1.56/gallon. At the closest Costco (about 50 minutes away), their current price is 1.10/gallon. I never thought I'd see those sorts of prices again. -
I'm very surprised any salad or food bar is still open. The salad bar in our local grocery store was shut down about two weeks ago.

I'm in small-town/rural Michigan and I went shopping this morning. I arrived at the grocery store right when they opened at 8:00am. Unlike 1-2 weeks ago when the panic buying began and many things were unavailable, today the shelves were well-stocked. Lot's of milk, bread, soup, pasta & sauce. The only thing completely out still was toilet paper. My impression is that things are normalizing now. At least I hope so.

Careful not to get this thread moved to the politics forum;).

I find no problems with the OP's communications and I agree he probably avoided a lousy escort experience. What stuns me on this thread is that some poster has seen fit to throw bombs at several of the other replies thereby suggesting he was "insulted". Now that is a total overreaction as the posts he was supposedly insulted by were not in the least bit offensive. SMH.

Kenny Rogers was an American classic. Such a huge song collection. RIP.

I think civil disorder starts when people can't get food anymore. I'm not predicting that will happen...in a big way anyway. But that would be the trigger for society starting to fall apart IMHO.

Best of luck with your choice. Please stay away from me.

Best of luck to you.

...and he was sexy as all get out. I remember watching the Carol Burnett show as a child and being oddly fascinated by Waggoner. I didn't understand why at the time.

Bars and restaurants in Michigan ordered closed today starting at 3:00pm. Not yet clear if take-out and delivery will continue (I expect they will).
-
Who on earth would contemplate getting on a plane to anywhere right now? It makes no sense.

The Stock website indicates the bar/club is closed due to the government mandate. They are still streaming previous shows for members. I hope that continues during this shutdown period.

So things are really starting to happen in Vegas. I suppose everything will be shut down in 1-2 days. Thanks everyone!
-
Are things operating as normal? I haven't heard anything. TBH, Casinos, shows, and restaurants should be shut down. Anyone know anything?
-
Glad you can cancel without penalties. Hopefully things will settle down by June/July for a return visit. FWIW, I've had lots of alcoholic drinks at Stock with many of the dancers;).

Smart move by Ohio. I assume restaurants/bars everywhere will close within 2-3 days. As in Ohio, I suspect the exceptions may be take-out/delivery/Drive-thru windows. I picked up coffee at the McDonald's drive-thru window yesterday. The cashier was wearing rubber/plastic gloves. I'm sure face protection is next.

I see that the Provence of Quebec has ordered all bars/theatres closed. I assume this means all the bars in The Village as well. https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/covid-19-live-updates-quebec-catholics-invited-to-celebrate-mass-online
