Glad to hear about Matt’s return. Good news! One caveat however. The advert above indicates “Bigger, louder, hotter nights”. Maybe it’s just me…but do we really need “louder” nights? One of the big pluses at Johnson’s has always been the music not being out of control loud. I like spending time with the dancers and appreciate having the music at a level that allows for conversation. New look, new guys, and a new DJ are all great but I don’t need louder music. Pre-COVID when Twist still had dancers, the music used to be painfully loud. It was always problematic.

People behave irrationally all the time...whether in business or personal aspects of their lives. People see what they want to see (or what they're told to see) until reality slaps them in the face and they have to absorb what's clearly in front of them. I deal with facts and reality. Sadly, many (most?) people don't operate that way. They need someone to interpret the available information and then tell them how to think. Sad but true.

The market is starting to be realistic about the impact that the Middle East situation can have on the global economy. Hence the falling stock markets around the world. I feel there is the potential for much steeper falls going forward. It’s not guaranteed but the possiby exists for the DOW to plummet much further. I fear a Pandora’s box may have been opened.

Thanks to both of you for your input. Very useful. Unfortunately mom’s health has declined since my original post. We are in hospice now so she won’t be needing a tablet. Priorities have changed. Thanks again.

Mom is 97 and lives at a facility nearby where I live. She wants a tablet to be able to read books and play simple games (ie solitaire, Mahjong, etc). What is the best option for someone who is not tech savvy and just wants it for simple things? Do the tablets have games already loaded onto them such that you don't have to subscribe to games?

Finally, some common sense in the stock market last week. It seemed like a delayed reaction to events in the middle east. I expect further reductions this week. With the recent job losses, increasing unemployment, ongoing affordability issues and surging oil prices...the US economy is in a downward spiral.

I paid $3.36 in Michigan today. Look for prices to rise even further this week😡.

I broke down and had a Big Arch Meal at my local Michigan McDonald's today. Tax included, the combo with a medium drink and fries cost $10.80. It certainly is large as it has two Quarter Pounder beef patties, a new special sauce, pickles, shredded lettuce, white cheddar cheese, and both raw onion rings as well as french fried onions (like the kind you put in green bean casserole). It was ok. Nothing to write home about and I wouldn't be compelled to rush out and order it again. In typical McDonald's fashion, the beef patties were overcooked and there was too much shredded lettuce on the burger. The french fried onions were an interesting add but they were over-powered by the raw onion rings that were included. You will definitely have onion breath after eating this burger. My understanding is that this new offering is meant to be temporary unless it becomes wildly popular...in which case it could become a permanent menu addition. Some posters seem to not understand how the stock market operates. It’s a dynamic exchange where stock shares are continually being bought and sold. The value of a given market (say the Dow) changes continuously throughout the day. It can be up at one moment and then be down five minutes later. Some posters seemingly understand that the market is static and once you look at the value at a given time during the trading day, that’s how it remains or has remained through the entire course of the day.

Since COVID, I haven’t been going to Canada nearly as much as I used to. Previously, I was going mostly to Montreal anywhere from 5 to 12 times per year (mostly flying but a few times by car). I personally never had problems with the immigration officers in Canada. I tell them exactly why I am going (male strip clubs ). I think they appreciate the honesty. I am, however, aware of several situations where non-Canadian dancers or escorts were detained by Canada immigration and had their texts reviewed. In some cases they were allowed in after a few hours. In other cases, they were not granted entry and had to return to their country of origin. One instance was the famous case of one of our former posters, Mocha(he goes by a different name now). He’s an American that, by his own admission, announced to the Canadian border official that he was entering Canada to work as an escort. Obviously he was denied entry. In any case, I have not been back to Canada since the change in the US administration so I don’t know what things are like when entering Canada now.

The DOW is flat today…up a little…down a little whilst chaos reigns in the Middle East. I still don’t get the disconnect between the stock market and global events currently.

I’m astounded that we haven’t seen a correction yet on the Dow since the middle east events started over the weekend. I’m wondering if the markets even operate independently anymore…or are they being manipulated. In normal times, there would have been a huge pullback seems to me.

Expensive I’m sure. I’m wondering how much money the family spent on renting the $4.7 million ranch with 36 acres prior to buying it? A whole lot I’m sure. So live the upscale ranch lifestyle for multiple years and then seek a bailout from the public to meet expenses going forward? How about living a more modest lifestyle all the way back to when they were already in default with taxes in 2017? Had they made better choices starting back then, they might not be in the tight financial situation they are experiencing today. Maybe they wouldn’t have to be seeking handouts. It’s obviously everyone’s choice whether they wish to donate to the GoFundMe campaign. I sure ain’t going to contribute so they can continue their upscale ranch lifestyle after seemingly making poor financial choices for many years.

I noticed the same thing. I’m not sure it’s really a legit source. True high-end discreet companions are not going to want to plaster their facepics online. The sort of escorts we are discussing in this thread are mostly not going to be found on the internet.

Even if friends lent money for the down payment on the $4.7 million ranch, this whole story seems to scream poor money management over many years and possible deceit. Clearly, the family was having money issues years ago as they had a $269k tax liability from 2017/2019. It was repaid in 2022 but does indicate money issues had been a problem even before he became sick. If money was so tight, why were they renting a multi-million dollar ranch for years? Couldn’t they have found something more within their budget? When they bought the ranch 1-2 months ago (with help from friends for the down payment) knowing that James’ illness was terminal, who did they think was going to make the ongoing mortgage payments, tax bills, utility, and general upkeep costs? GoFundMe drives? If friends want to fund this family’s extravagant ranch lifestyle until all the kids are grown, that is certainly their prerogative. But why get the general public involved with a begging campaign? None of the additional news that has come out regarding the ranch or how they purchased it has removed any of my doubts. If anything, it raises more questions.

Yeah…I guess we can’t jump to conclusions quite yet. Probably need a little more meat around the bones of this story. Sure does merit the questions being asked though.
