Advice for a newbie investor?
EZEtoGRU replied to + keroscenefire's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
While interesting, this hardly sounds like advice for a newbie investor. Please be mindful of the topic at hand. -
Swingin Richards Atlanta all-male, all-nude club to close Jan. 15
EZEtoGRU replied to Durk's topic in Male Strip Clubs
I agree with this. My last two visits to SR's (2018 and 2019) were a waste of time. Plenty of dancers...but very low quality. There were one or two decent looking guys but the rest were not attractive to me at all. I took a pocketful of cash with me on both visits and never spent any of it other than on drinks. During it's last 3-4 years of operation, SR's was living off it's prior reputation rather than based on the talent currently on offer. You can only do that for so long before people figure out it's not worth going any more. -
Just back from a quick 3-day trip to Houston. No-one in Texas is wearing masks...anywhere. Also on the plane and in airports, virtually no-one is masking. I saw one other person on the plane with a mask on...other than me. Separately, COVID hospitalizations in Michigan have started dropping again. They had more than doubled from the end of March till mid-May and then have gradually started coming down again. COVID deaths have also started dropping. They had increased from end-April to late May before gradually dropping again. COVID hospitalizations and deaths definitely increased in Michigan after the restrictions were dropped. Let's see what happens in the fall and winter.

The Formula 1 in Montreal is also this coming weekend. Always a busy weekend in the city with hotel prices through the roof.

Way back in the day (1980's), JP's in Windsor was a great male strip club. Toronto/Montreal strippers regularly appeared there along with locals. It was an excellent club for it's day and Michiganders frequently travelled there to enjoy. Cross border travel was easy then with only a drivers license required. Later the Happy Tap bar opened in Windsor. It was never as good as JP's in my opinion. It was a regular gay bar on the main level with the male strip club action in the basement. I don't know how long it lasted before it closed...but I think it was well before the pandemic started.

None that I am aware of. The Gold Coast had been around for decades but closed before the pandemic. TBH, it had become a lousy establishment for the last 5-6 years of it's life. Low quality talent. Mostly drugged up twinks. I longed for the days in the 90's and 2000's when it was the premier strip-club in the midwest...even surpassing anything that Chicago had.

What was the first thing that ever made you feel “old”?
EZEtoGRU replied to + 7829V's topic in The Lounge
The first time I felt old was the first time I got a boss that was younger than me. I was 41/42 at the time. The new boss was around 35. Up until then, I was successful at work and I was always considered the young guy doing great things. Promotions and raises came...until they didn't. I hated having a younger boss. To make matters worse, he wasn't a very good boss. I continued working for another 7-8 years and then retired at 49. I'm 62 now and when I look in the mirror I don't recognize myself. LOL. -
I mostly agree with Ben here. On-board service is very mediocre on AA. I attribute it partially to union work rules and protections (AA FA's are rewarded primarily based on seniority not based on performance) but I also blame very low food and beverage budgets for the F & J cabins. There is virtually no truly premium alcohol served in AA first class. It's mostly the same stuff you buy on board back in economy. They do carry some decent wines sometimes in long-haul first/business class. The food options in first are uninspiring. No caviar. No lobster. No Kobe beef. Those are the sort of options a real long-haul first class product should be offering. I don't particularly blame the training they receive. AA understands what a true first class experience should be but I think they are resigned to the fact that it isn't possible with the current FA union protections. As to the state of the current BA, Ben is also correct that BA has become the British version of AA. Their J cabin is to be avoided at all cost due to the cabin layout (although I agree with Ben that the few aircraft with the redesigned J cabin are almost certainly better). Even the F experience on BA had become lackluster years back. I have not been on BA for awhile so I cannot speak of how things are now. However I did fly in BA F from LHR to ORD in October 2019. The cabin itself was very drab and uninspiring. The food was just like on AA...nothing special. The on-board service was mixed. The one flight attendant took pride in her job and was very friendly/attentive. The other was not the least bit interested. He just wanted to get to Chicago ASAP. My main enjoyment from that flight was it was a 747 (my favorite widebody aircraft) and I cherish having been able to fly her again. BA has since retired all their 747's. Anyway, BA F class has really fallen in the last 4-5 years to become just like AA. I believe the only European carriers where one can still get a real first class long-haul experience is on AF and LH. The other European carriers either no longer offer an F cabin (KL/IB/TP) or they have an imposter F class (BA).

Some people look better with age...to a point. Not Johnny Depp. I do feel somewhat sorry for him however. No doubt, he made bad choices along the way, but she seems to be willing the say/do anything to take him for all she can get. IMHO, during this trial, she comes off looking just as bad as him or worse.

Nanny-nanny boo-boo? Umm...ok. 5 years old? No. 62 years old with a lifetime of experience around the world. I know BS when I see it.

I actually don't believe your are/were a doctor. I do not believe you have a medical background at all in fact. I have arrived at that conclusion based on all your postings related to Covid since it began. So not an insult or personal attack at all. You post lots of charts and data but your ability to understand and interpret said information is quite poor IMHO. So...yeah...not believing any of it.
-
Personal attack much? You have no leg to stand on in this argument. I understand how to interpret numbers and data while it seems you do not. It seems the emperor has no clothes. Sad sad Unicorn.

What's tragically comical is that that that you have argued for months that COVID hospitalizations were not increasing. Now you matter-of-factly acknowledge that Michigan COVID hospitalizations have more than doubled since April 1. In the same breath, you say "nearly nobody is getting sick BECAUSE of the virus". News flash: Being hospitalized due to COVID means you're getting sick because of COVID. Honestly, just throw in the towel. Your theories have been fully debunked. The curtain has been pulled back great wizard. The gig's up. Omicron is raging. Hospitalizations are up everywhere (which you have consistently denied until today). COVID isn't over.
-
You must have been looking in the mirror when you composed this line. Meanwhile COVID hospitalizations are up again this week in Michigan. This is now 6-7 weeks of continuous increases in COVID hospitalizations in the state. From 473 persons hospitalized on April 1 to 1146 on May 18. Hospitalizations in Michigan have more than doubled since April 1. Yet our faux doctor is pushing the theory that no-one is getting sick from Omicron in the US. Complete B.S. and he knows it. The test positivity rate is running between 14-18% here depending on the day so we have a high rate of transmission resulting in a continuous increase in COVID hospitalizations. This has been going on now since the end of March.
-
Don't even bother debating with him any more. He's in some fantasy world unto himself pretending everything is hunky dory whilst Rome burns.
-
I cite actual figures/data from real sources. Every news story on COVID nearly everywhere is covering the COVID hospitalization increases throughout the country. Literally everyone is talking about the increase in hospitalizations. Well everyone except you that is. Sad sad Unicorn.

Patti LuPone chastised a theatregoer for not wearing a mask properly during a Tuesday Q&A panel in the theatre. Good for her! Proper masking is the rule. Whether you agree with the rule or not is irrelevant. If you want to go to the theatre in NYC, you need to mask-up properly. Full stop. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/patti-lupone-claps-back-broadway-044146910.html

As COVID hospitalizations are increasing everywhere and with COVID deaths increasing in some places, our "doctor" is now saying deaths attributed to COVID aren't actually COVID deaths after all. People are dying from other things and just happen to test positive for COVID at the same time. I guess that means that the doctors and real health professionals that officially attribute someone's death to COVID don't know what they're doing. "Doctor" Unicorn will literally say anything now to desperately hang onto his narrative that whilst cases are increasing, COVID hospitalizations remain flat. That is patently false...and he knows it. Sad sad Unicorn as he watches his theories and predictions swirl down the toilet. Masking needs to be mandated again anywhere indoors where people are together. That's the main takeaway here. I still mask up anytime I'm around people anyway.
-
What a complete load of crap from our esteemed "doctor". Updated numbers in Michigan today. Hospitalizations now up here for the 5th straight week. Michigan hospitalizations on April 1 were 473 patients....now as of today our hospitalizations are at 903 patients. Unicorn thinks that is staying "relatively flat". Complete bunk. As far as deaths go, Unicorn says its "practically zero" yet we are still losing about 10 per day to COVID here in Michigan. 76 Covid deaths here in the last 7 days. I guess those 76 people don't count for Unicorn. Here is the latest report: https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2022/05/11/michigan-covid-cases-deaths-rising-hospitalizations-outbreaks/9720866002/

Would you do what Vicky did in order to feel it?
-
I wonder how she thought this would all play out once they escaped? Was is all worth it Vicky? Of course we'll never know the answer.

Sadly Vicky White has died of her injuries from the gunshot. https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/09/us/vicky-casey-white-alabama-manhunt-monday/index.html

I'm totally with you on the leg thing. Meaty calves are a must. But the most important trait for me is masculinity. I love my men to be uber masculine.

The sauna scene in PA used to be fun. I remember Plataforma and Mezzaninu (mentioned above) and two others that pre-dated them...but I don't remember their names. My initial trips to PA were work trips in the 90's so the saunas that were active there were different. The scene was always inferior to SP and RJ. Having said that you could sometimes find a real gem of a guy at the Porto Alegre saunas. It is true that Porto Alegre can be rather boring during the day. Especially in the winter months of June-August.
