  1. I'm currently at a Marriott in the Detroit area. Pen and paper back on the desk. TV remote not wrapped in plastic. Bible and The Book of Mormon are in their designated spot. Things seem to be getting back to normal. As an aside, the hotel is buzzing with people. I spoke with the restaurant manager at breakfast this morning. She said they have been busy all week and will be through the weekend (she said they have two weddings!). Another Marriott in the area was sold-out yesterday and today which is why I am at this one. It seems business people are back on the road.
  2. Correct. The initial loosening of rules is for fully vaccinated Canadians that travel abroad. They no longer need to quarantine for 14 days upon returning to Canada. As far as opening the US/Canada border to tourists/business visitors going in either direction, nothing meaningful will happen until July or afterward IMHO. We will probably know more on the timing within 7-10 days.
  3. I agree. I'd really be surprised if the border were to re-open to tourist travel this month. I'm still predicting sometime in the July to September timeframe.
  4. Disappointing to hear that SR's is not improving now that things are re-opening. IMHO, SR's was already in serious decline for several years prior to the pandemic. My last visit was in January or February of 2019 I believe. It was a Friday or Saturday. Lot's of dancers but of very average quality. There was one hot dancer there but he was so stoned he was passed out on one of the sofas in the VIP area. I vowed not to return to SR's until hearing things had improved substantially. It sounds like that hasn't happened yet. Too bad. For me, rule number 1 in having a successful strip club is you have to have quality talent. None of the rest of it matters if you cannot attract the most attractive guys. I wonder why BJ Roosters can do it but SR's can't?
  5. I don't think anyone said what you quoted so the legitimacy of your whole thought process falls apart. But let's pretend someone made the exact statement you quoted. How do you go from that to claiming the person is exhibiting self-loathing? That is a huge leap IMHO. People have opinions. You can agree or not. That is fine. I personally believe most gay men are less masculine than straight guys. It is my opinion and I believe it to be true. You can agree or not. I really don't care. You are allowed to believe what you choose.
  6. Thanks for that. Yes I'm sure commuters are beside themselves with frustration.
  7. As usual, you're such a shining example of how to serve your city/state/country 🙄. *Admin Note: Attack the issue not the person.
  8. Similar for me. I've been called for jury duty many (6-7) times in multiple states (Michigan, Florida, Texas) but have never been selected for a jury. Just lots of sitting around. I don't mind it as I see it as my civic duty.
  9. I heard that there was a problem with a damaged bridge heading to Montreal. How long will the repairs take? Weeks? Months? Years? I usually fly to Montreal from Michigan but I occasionally drive. I'll need to take into consideration the damaged bridge next time I'm thinking about driving...when the border reopens.
  10. Awesome work boys! Congratulation and thank you!!
  11. Montreal bars to be allowed to open indoors starting Jun 14th. https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/quebec-to-end-curfews-and-open-restaurants-in-late-may-reopen-bars-june-14-1.5433362 Stockbar Facebook page indicates they are now hiring for all positions....so it seems they are gearing up for re-opening. All great news!! Now if the border can re-open in July that would be excellent!!
  12. Thanks C.E.O. Sounds like I might need to make a trip back to Chicago this year. Although, I prefer muscular hunky dancers, I am fine if a bar has a good mix of body types and races such that there is something for everyone. That way, all patrons get something they like to look/play with. Back in the day, "The Shoe" had quite seedy twinks and I didn't find anything to hold my interest. Appreciate the update!
  13. Thanks for the update. It's been some years since I have been to "the horseshoe". I'm curious as to what you thought of the quality of the dancers. Years back many were pretty seedy types and mostly twink and fem. Has that changed? Are there more masculine hunky types there too now? Thanks in advance.
  14. How odd. I just re-read the entire thread and I don't detect a hint of self-loathing from any poster. I note that people have personal preferences, likes, & dislikes. So what? Why are you so offended by this? Why must we all acquiesce to what your vision of masculinity is?
  15. West End theatre slowly re-opening...wonderful! I can't wait to get back over there once we are able as I love doing theatre trips to London. I have cousins in England so I get to kill two birds (theatre & family) with one stone. There is an expectation that Americans may be able to start traveling to the UK again in June or July. Hopefully that will happen as I'd love to go ASAP.
  16. I don't know and the piece quoted above does not give a cause.
  17. I think we're in the same place on how things are evolving. I'm only 10 years behind you in the age range so my 70's aren't that far off. Anyway, back to the thread topic. It's always tragic when one of these young deaths occurs in the porn-related business....whatever the cause.
  18. The gay scene in Montreal has evolved in the last 10 years...but I find that is the case in every city. I lived in Houston from 2007 till 2016 and the gay scene there changed hugely during that time. It seemed that half the gay bars shut down...at one point Houston was left without a single lesbian bar...can you imagine? The fourth largest city in the US had no lesbian bar? The drugs have evolved as well with meth/G/Opioids being the preferred ones used by youth now. Having said that the older drugs were ugly too. About 15 years ago I remember taking a stroll through the porn video arcade on St. Catherine that used to be one block away from Campus. It was probably 2:00am and I had just finished my night out at Campus. I saw a guy in a booth in the arcade...no more than 25 years old. He was completely naked watching a video with the door open. He had a syringe in his arm and was injecting something. I assume heroine but I don't really know. I remember thinking how sad for him in his young life having already gotten to injecting drugs into his arm...and wondering how many months more he had to live. It's nothing new. These kinds of things have been going on forever. I guess I'm saying there has always been a dark underbelly to the porn/stripper/escort world. However it's not always that way with everybody. There is an opportunity to meet some great people that are not spun out on drugs. I still (or did pre-COVID) have loads of fun in Montreal both in the gay village and other non-gay areas. It's still a great city but, yes, it has changed in the last 10 years....just like everywhere else.
  19. Both Campus and Stock...but more from Stock as I went there more often.
  20. It's not a new trend. Early/untimely deaths of young porn actors/strippers/escorts have been happening for many years...both for males & females. I need more than ten fingers to count the number of male strippers I have personally known from Montreal that have died young. As someone pointed out above, the primary causes of death seem to be suicide, drug overdose, and vehicle accidents. If you go far enough back, there were also some that died from complications related to HIV/AIDS. That doesn't happen much now. I remember there was one year where four Montreal strippers I knew had died. It was terrible.
  21. I went into a convenience store today wearing my mask and the unmasked cashier gave me the "stink-eye". I never said anything to her or even looked at her funny. I can only conclude she hated that I was wearing a mask and wanted to indicate her disapproval. I do live in a heavily Republican area of Michigan, so I have been seeing plenty of "never-maskers" throughout the pandemic. Roughly five weeks ago, my county had the highest infection rate in the state and one of the highest in the country. No surprise since there are so many deniers and Kool-Aid drinkers in this area.
  22. I just filled up at Costco today...$2.69 for regular. Average price of gas in my area of Michigan is about $2.98. Costco is always the lowest here.
  23. Good question. According to the Twist website and facebook page, Twist continues to operate. What is less clear is whether they still have the gogo boys dancing in the bungalow/tiki bar in back. Anyone have any recent info on that?
  24. This. As far back as I can remember, I have been attracted to masculinity. That attribute is the first thing about a guy that attracts my attention....and the lack of a guy being masculine is a deal-breaker for me. If a guy is not uber masculine, nothing else really matters. He can be the most handsome, have the most ripped body, or have the most glorious cock but unless he is truly masculine, I will have zero interest. I end up pretty consistently being attracted to straight or bi guys. It's very rare that in a hiring scenario I end up with a gay guy....and the lack of real masculinity is the reason why. I totally concur with the highlighted quote above. And like lonely_john, I consider it to be a fact.
  25. I never knew.
