  1. Hope the Chromebook works out well for you.

IRT iPad for those who may look at this thread in the future.

You can disable file sharing between Apple devices. Many options available of what can be shared.

Most of the settings are within the “Sharing” section of “System Preferences”. If you use Apple iCloud be very careful. Research “disable file sharing on iOS” before taking action. Probably best to create separate Apple ID’s for the different devices.

    Just an example:

  2. >>…basically for internet surfing….

    >>…good, fast internet connections…

    >>…good security…

Sounds like a fairly modest overall need.

Maybe something like an Apple iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab.

“Internet connection” speed is MUCH MORE a function of your internet provider and your router/modem setup rather than the computer (or tablet, smartphone) itself.

  3. ....It was acceptable according to the mores of the time and place, but it was certainly still exploitation.

Human nature being what it is it’s quite likely there was exploitation. However, the societal norms of that era were much different than those of today.

Same sex relationships were common in the ancient world.

In ancient Greece (and Rome) pederasty and bisexuality involving older (the erastes) and younger (eromenos) males were very much a part of the periods lifestyle. It played a major role in military preparation of male youth. Especially those from the aristocratic class to educate, develop leadership skills and strengthen warrior and military unit cohesiveness. Entire elite military units were formed around the “brotherhood bond” of pederasty relationships. These individuals trained together from mid-childhood into early adulthood. It was the responsibility of the erastes to ensure his eromenos had the skills necessary to win at war. Sexual aspects of the relationship among this warrior class were secondary and likely more intercrural to avoid “revenge” issues on the battlefield. The idea was to teach - not degrade. All bets were off for those who were slaves or non-citizens.

Good read on ancient Greek Pederasty:

Getting back to the OP’s initial post about Alexander - check out

Personal relationships of Alexander the Great:

and intercrural sex. Speculation - but this may have been a more likely “love relationship” between Alexander and Hephaestion.

If the 1972 novel by Mary Renault (“The Persian Boy”) has any real basis then Bagoas (a eunuch) was trained from late boyhood (abt 11?) in the court of Darius III in the arts of courtiership. Upon the defeat of Darius, Bagoas became a faithful courtier and servant to Alexander.

  4. We all know that the great love of Alexander the Great's life was Antinuous, a youth from Turkey....

I've always been interested in Alexander. Now I'll have to look deeper into Antinuous.

Antinous (abt 111-130 AD) I believe is more commonly associated with the Roman Emperor Hadrian.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antinous

Alexander’s great “love” was Hephaistion whom he knew from childhood.

Bagoas (the Younger) was the courtier of Darius and, later, Alexander the Great. The historical novel “The Persian Boy” by Mary Renault is an easy fun read. Oliver Stone’s movie “Alexander” has some scenes involving Hephaistion and Bagoas. I would suggest Stone’s third version “Alexander Revisited - The Final Cut” as the best.

  5. You’re being coy. But whatever. You know that already.

@Kevin Slater is not being coy at all - and he’s very knowledgeable on the subject

This has been discussed numerous times.

    Click “Search”

There should be at least several pages of results to get you started.

  6. I have a 1550sf ranch style home in the desert southwest.

I typically keep my thermostat at around 75F. I am careful to keep window blinds adjusted to minimize heat gain during the summer.

I have a leased solar panel system that’s been producing around 5200kWh per year.

I have a near ideal roof for solar panels that is shadeless and faces due south at a good roof pitch.

My heat, kitchen stove and hot water are gas.

    - At installation I paid about $1600 up front to lower the solar panel base rate from about 12.5 cents per kWh to about 9.2 cents. This was a one time cost. That 9.2 cent rate will not change during the 20 year lease period.

    - I pay a set rate of a bit over $39/mo to the solar company I lease from. That will not change during the lease period.

    - My power company grid rate varies per month. There is currently a minimum charge of about $14/mo just for the grid connection. That is close to my monthly “electric power” utility bill connection (typically $14 - $19). Except for July, Aug and Sep when the bill averages $70/mo during the high air conditioning period. The average bill, over the course of a year, is around $25/mo. That may increase based on utility electric rates.

So my average monthly electric bill (power company @ $25/mo + solar panel lease @ $39/mo) has been about $64/mo over the past three years. Plus the $1600 initial "buy down"

Add to that the gas bill which averages about $23/mo.

  7. The OP is new to the forum.

There have been many threads over the years IRT pros and cons of publicly naming and/or calling out a provider. I’m not going to suggest a specific course of action for the OP. However, I will strongly suggest he search the forum for similar threads and also familiarize himself with the websites Terms and Rules located at the bottom of the page.

Edit: Changed “dissing” to “calling out” to better clarify intention of neutrality.

  8. The problem is....

Not an escort - but here’s my input anyway.

In response to the post by @SirBIllybob: The review site often has “actual” numbers for the time provided. But, in the big overall scheme of life, the “data sample” is statistically pretty small over the course of a year.

So I don’t think you would ever gather a “true” data set.

    - There are those providers who likely offer “deals” to repeat clients. They would likely be unhappy if that deal was divulged to the world.

    - When sex is involved - people lie. There could very well be “bragging rights” involved.

    - Clients might be very reticent to divulge a $$ amount to time spent with a specific provider due to legal concerns.

    - Clients might be more willing to provide a more generic, and anonymous data set if the question was posed more regionally. Say the question was: “What is the average cost of 1 hour you paid for providers in the following regions?” Please indicate the total number of hires and the average 1hr cost:

Example: (and no - these have zero correlation to me. And the numbers below are arbitrary)

    NYC 6 hires $275

    LA 3 hires $255

    Texas 2 hires $245

    Rural Midwest 1 hire $200

It could be challenging to come up with the “regions”. But it would likely make sense to separate out NYC and LA as being the two biggest markets. And keeping the data “honest” would be challenging. Maybe the Cabana to establish an initial “vetting”? But that subforum has a very small membership in the overall worldwide hiring process.

Probably too late to get the question added to the 2020 census questionnaire. (My bad!)

  9. Maybe this area (there are other subdivisions nearby too).

Real pine trees and winter snow.

Paste the following into Google Earth Search:

    36 15’25.15”N 115 37’57.43”W

Ski resort about 30 minutes to the northwest.

“The Strip” about 50 minutes to the southeast.

7400ft altitude - so it’s typically about 20F cooler than “The Strip”.

Chains and / or AWD often required for access in the winter.

There’s a Resort nearby that you could stay for a few days to check out the area:

  10. This season I’ve seen several recipes for a chocolate bourbon pecan pie. I’m intrigued.

There are several nice recipes for chocolate bourbon pecan pies on the internet. One of the best pies I can recall was a “Chocolate Pecan” from a little restaurant in Maine. It likely contained a liquor like bourbon or maybe an Amaretto style liqueur. But it also had an upper crust that was kind of an oatmeal / praline crisp with just a touch of cinnamon. It was served a bit warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Totally decadent and probably enough calories to sustain an entire boy scout troop for a weekend.

  11. A combination of several factors:

    Libido

As @dcguy20 stated: “…I feel like someone switched my on button off…”

and as @sync stated: “Age has diminished my libido” and “An occasional massage is pretty much it for me anymore.”

My decreased libido likely also related to aging. But that may be ok (and I’m fine, for now, at not using “enhancement” drugs) because it indirectly acknowledges other factors:

Cost (this is a VERY expensive “hobby” - and I have a real budget)

As @Studsearcher stated: “I might be horny but am I horny enough for these rates?”

and (slightly edited)… “The longer I go with reduced hiring, the more (funds) I have for other frivolous things that last a (lot) longer than a couple of hours.” To me, however, some of those “frivolous things” are pretty important.

    Changing Priorities

As @overeasy stated (and slightly edited): …there are other things that can use the funds…house upkeep and improvement, family, friends, (completing other items on my ‘life bucket list” while I’m still able) and just plain old savings.”

  12. Don’t know what US Federal Statutes are. But they likely closely resemble US Military Law.

The Manual for Courts-Martial Article 120 defines as such:

    ¶45.a.(g)(1) & (2)

    (g) Definitions. In this section:

( 1 ) Sexual act. The term ‘sexual act’ means -

    (A) contact between the penis and the vulva or anus or mouth, and for purposes of this subparagraph contact involving the penis occurs upon penetration, however slight; or

    (B) the penetration, however slight, of the vulva or anus or mouth of another by any part of the body or by any object, with an intent to abuse, humiliate, harass, or degrade any person or to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person.

    (2) Sexual contact. The term ‘sexual contact’ means—

    (A) touching, or causing another person to touch, either directly or through the clothing, the genitalia, anus, groin, breast, inner thigh, or buttocks of any person, with an intent to abuse, humiliate, or degrade any person; or

    (B) any touching, or causing another person to touch, either directly or through the clothing, any body part of any person, if done with an intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person.

  13. If you have difficulty moving your current Microsoft Word program you consider LibreOffice. It’s very “Word Like” in how it works and can typically read / write Word formats. And it’s free. For your “simple” needs it should work fine for you. It’s a “Suite” so it also includes other powerful capabilities.

  14. Browsing the link I posted also made me think about how many don't actually know how to use a condom with the proper amount of lubercation and use the proper size.

Which can lead to rips and broken condoms and then back to square one.

Not to throw wood on the fire, but condom use requires proper use to even be effective as well.

  16. ...Inside was an ad ... in which they advertised "Dark Mondays," in which one presumably goes around seeking sexual encounters in the dark. I don't understand this one bit....

I would presume entirely differently what the ad is saying.

In Las Vegas “Dark Mondays” would mean that the show (or venue) is closed that day. Very common that most of the major entertainment shows are “dark” at least one day a week to give the performers a break.
