Yes St Catherine Street will be closed to auto traffic this summer.  Last year they had no overhead decorations which I missed a lot.  I'm hoping that will change this year.
Good point.  I've been going to Montreal for many years,  We would usually go to Campus around 7 PM for a pre dinner drink and while the number of dancers  varied from year to year it was always slow even at that hour.

Daddy's Corner at Campus doesn't seem to work.
It opens at 3 pm; I went at 6, hoping that later means more.
The "corner" is a smaller bar, to the right of the stage and the main bar. There were 5 patrons sitting with their drinks: 3 solitary, 2 talking with a shirtless dancer. The barman was also shirtless.
Per my question, one of the patrons repeated the concept on the website, but added that nothing is going on and left. I then talked with the barman. He said they intend to put in a curtain to make the space more intimate (smart). When I asked about dancers, he explained that 2 others were going in and out on errands, because "things were slow". Since the only dancer there didn't appeal to me, after 5 minutes I left.
Newbie that I m, I humbly submit this concept probably won't work. Dancers won't come for 5-10 patrons instead of 50. Patrons won't come if there r only 1-3 dancers to choose from. Without the show in the background, u can come, sit with a drink for 10 minutes, take the only dancer for 2-3 lap dances, and then return to a rather "too tranquil" (the leaving patron defined it) setting.
Hope to read future accounts that would prove me wrong. (-:

When I arrived there Thursday 20:50, there were 4 patrons. When I left at 23:15 - circa 50, about a third women. [They weren't grouped, shouting, or getting too much attention by the dancers.]
The program started just as I arrived. The first dancer was in undies, but afterwards all were fully clothed gradually removing the shirt. About 13 dancers. At the second round everyone was in underwear. There was no hard-on round, unless it started after I had left. Only one dancer appeared on stage proudly sporting an impressive erection. Two others exhibited full nudity, but no hardons.
Dancers circulated among patrons. 4 introduced themselves to me: 3 were nicely soliciting; one was cheeky and assertive.
I enjoyed the eye candy and the athletic ability on the pole, but didnt find the 'dances' arousing. The moves were repetitive; nothing creative or un-amateurish. One real bodybuilder (Jackson), 3 tall hunks, one twink, the rest athletic guys next door.
There was very little lapdancing going on backstage. When I finally got there, we were the only couple. I chose the hard-on guy, also because of his looks. Per my question as we were walking in, he said he takes his undies off at the second song and I could touch his dick. I enjoyed losing my lapdance virginity (I became fully aroused), though it was obvious he preferred his own hands on his dick rather than mine. I asked if I could suck; "no, just kiss the balls"; so I stopped at 2 dances. I don't think we really spent there full 6 minutes, but I wasn't clock watching. Added $5 as a tip. [M not sure it's ok to post his name here.]
$6 entrance, same for my Sprite. The usual VERY loud music; used my earplugs.
As I collected my coat at the reception, I chatted with the receptionist. For some reason he decided to give me a free entrance coupon for the next time, explaining that I'm a nice person (my mom would agree).
I stopped for a minute at Campus. Was told that Daddy's Corner was already operating afternoons, but due to the loud music - couldn't understand if there was anything differentiating it from usual going-ons (other than the hours).
Will b back on Saturday night.

you may have to politely say no to any entertainers that approach you that don't appeal....you don't really have to say "no", but can just say you're going to sit a bit, enjoy the beer, you look great, but........
if you find a guy who does appeal, "pre-tipping" can grease the wheels, I suppose.....if he's on stage, feel free to go up to him, tip, say $5-10, and ask him to drop by after his set......discuss a private and what you like.....he may be discreet about it and not want to commit to specifics, but see how the vibe is as you talk.......without looking like a tightwad, keep track of the number of songs, too!!!!
don't rush, talk slowly, smile and be complimentary, offer the guy a drink, sit back and just enjoy the stage shows and dudes walking around.....

Sounds like fun.  I'm really looking forwward to it.  Hope they won't mind a grand daddy. If it is as good as they are making it sound I wouldn't mind a cover charge.

Netflix debuted a gay romantic comedy series today, Smiley, and yes, I binged it all in 1 day.  Hey, when a series is good enough, sometimes you just can't stop.
Alex is a 32yo bartender in a gay bar who works out like it's religion yet complains that his (myriad) hookups never take him seriously.  Bruno is a buttoned-up architect who is 36yo but lives the life of a 60yo, and a rather dull 60yo at that.  When they meet by means of a voicemail mixup (too long to explain), the attraction makes them both weak in the knees even though they're totally wrong for each other.
Before you roll your eyes too much, yes, we've seen this story a zillion times before, but Smiley does put its own very clever and hilarious twists on the oft-used premise.  I'm really picky about comedies because most make me groan, very few make me laugh, but Smiley had me busting a belly laugh more than a few times.  We also get to see the ups & downs of Alex's biological family, his adopted family (his 2 coworkers Vero & Javi), and Bruno's adopted family (his best friend Albert).  Plus we get a couple of "right" boyfriends for our so-very-wrong-for-each-other duo:  Bruno starts dating Ramon, the best architect in his office, while Alex hooks up with the equally gorgeous and sculpted Ibra.
The comic chemistry between Carlos Cuevas (Alex) and Miki Esparbe (Bruno) is perfection.  I never really bought the sexual chemistry between the two, but maybe that's asking for too much.  As long as the two kept me laughing, I was happy.  All the other storylines are well-done and woven together quite skillfully.
8 35-minute episodes, mostly in Spanish with some scenes in Catalan.  If you can stand dubbing, i checked out a couple of scenes, and the English dubbing for Smiley is actually really good.  English subtitles are also available.  2 user reviews already on IMDb, a 9 & a 10.  I'd give Smiley a 10.

Watched Skate America on TV.  His quad axel was unbelivable.  He not only got all the way around but executed flawlessly.  It's impossible but he did it.
Many, many years ago when I skated a double axel was a highlight of male free skating.  I could barely do a single.  Needless to say I didn't last long.
Still miss true artistry in skating.  It really doesn't exist anymore.  John Curry, Robin Cousins, Brian Boitano.  I'll never forget Boitano's Olympic short program to Meyerbeer which was like a young man showing off on a pond.  Even wiping the snow off his blade.  A wonderful piece of theater on ice.  Always reminded me of Ashton's "Les Patineurs".
These days most long programs look the same - 3 jumping passes, some spins and footwork to kill time until they get to the bonus time then 4 more jumping passes.  So boring the even at 4 minutes I'm thinking "When will this end."

The article is very interesting.  One take away for me is the new owner's background in porn.  His contacts are undoubtedly the reason for the high number of dancers that the other bars can't match.  We can guess why that is (monkypox, covid, only fans) but no way of knowing for sure.  I'll add one more to the mix i.e., the circle of::
Lots of good looking dancers = more customers - More customers = more income for the dancers = more good looking dancers
Few or no dancers = few customers - Few customers = dwindling number or no dancers
Hope I'm making some sense with the above.

I visited Montreal for a few nights over the Labor Day weekend and went to both Stock and Campus. The last time I was in Montreal was 2019, and Stockbar had the best guys. But after last weekend it's easy to say that Campus has the far better experience. Went to Stock for a few hours on Wednesday and Friday, and the experience didn't compare to the way it was in 2019. Campus Thursday through Saturday was packed with a raucous crowd. I went to Campus after 10:00 on Thursday, after midnight on Friday and 9:30 on Saturday.
You're definitely spoiled for choice at Campus. There are 10+ dancers every night in a range of sizes, colors, ages and either with many tattoos or none at all. The following are just some of the dancers I found memorable, the days they performed, and a brief description.
    Gabriel:  Friday and Saturday
Absolutely gorgeous guy. Very tall with dark blond hair and a short beard / stubble. He looks like he just walked out of one of those really sexy cologne commercials and right into Campus. He reminds me of that Australian doctor on the show House. Just a real head turner. In addition to all that, his dance to the song Call Out My Name was smoking hot. Definitely safe to say he was one of the headliners on Friday and Saturday.
    Malik:  Saturday
I'm assuming people know who he is, but it was fun to see a porn star in real life.
    Brandon:  Thursday - Saturday
One of my favorites. Handsome with a nicely muscular body, great ass and perfect dick. His body is amazingly symmetrical, even when he's hard his dick points straight up. His dances were slow and sensual, and he just knew how to work the crowd when he performed. Seemed to be a crowd favorite.
    Valentino:  Thursday - Saturday
Young Asian dancer with a gymnast's build, so he's compact with a strong back, muscular arms and tight little ass. And there's something about his face that's so appealing to me, he's so handsome with bright, large eyes and an easy friendly smile.
    Zayne:  Thursday - Saturday
Blond college aged guy, another dancer with a gymnast's build. Really muscular arms. He danced to the song You're the One That I Want. And it was just so fun because it's an energetic, uptempto song and the crowd really gets into it and so does he.
    Clark:  Thursday - Saturday
Muscular, colleged aged guy with a crewcut who wears 70's style wire rimmed glasses. For me his stage dances were some of the best of the night, especially the slow reveal of his XL dick.
    Kai:  Thursday - Saturday
At Stock Bar he danced as Jordan, and he's gorgeous in those Stockbar videos, and he's still very hot. He has a lot of tattoos including a big one across his upper back. I'm not generally into that, but he is the exception to that rule. He's got dark hair, sexy bedroom eyes, tight muscular body and nice dick.
    Derek: Thursday
He reminded me of a dancer at Stockbar named Connor just with more muscle and a beard. He's a sexy blond guy with a pretty long dick.
    Matthew: Thursday and Friday
He was always wearing a backwards baseball cap. Definitely more on the heavily muscled, beefy, body builder side and he has an enormous dick. After his dances he wouldn't always put clothes back on, so he'd be out on the floor with his dick swinging around and his big ass sticking out. Later he'd put on these white briefs that didn't do much to contain him.
So that's my short notables list from a long holiday weekend in Montreal. I'm glad I finally got a chance to go back after so many years and to have such a great time. Though it was kind of sad to see the current state of Stockbar, I'm glad that Campus has been able to pick up the torch.

That would be another flight of stairs.  Good luck with that.  Even now the stairs are difficult for me.
In the past my spouse had to go upstairs and get someone to bring the elevator down to get me.  Is that still the case?  Does anyone know if the elevator is workiing now?

Thanks for the report LD. I haven't been to Montreal in a number of years. The last time was 2018. I go back to the old Stock Bar when it was in a different location.. Those were good days. Finding the right dancers has become a bit of a challenge today. . The top guys are all doing Onlyfans,Justforfans, Twitter Etc. One Muscle 💪 Guy told me he makes 6k a month on Onlyfans, he doesn't need F A G S touching him in person all done from the basement of his house.. Being in the business it's a constant job of finding the right guys.

The booths are still open. I read an article in French this week with the new owner of Campus and he was saying they have plans to open a male only club up the stairs. They have applied for an alcohol license. They also have other plans which they can't talk about yet.

All the best to you! CHEERS!!
