A memorial for Lucky was held yesterday at a church in Palm Springs. Unfortunately, it was the hottest day of the year (117 degrees at the time of the service), and there were not many people present--another old friend of his and I were almost the only non-family members, and we were both asked to speak about our experience with him, which we did relatively truthfully (we did not discuss the primary subject matter of this website). One of the most positive aspects of the memorial was the fact that everyone present knew and openly acknowledged Lucky's sexual orientation in a very positive way (e.g., his nieces and nephews all refer to his partner as "Uncle"). I was moved by the love and admiration that his family members obviously felt for him. He was my best friend in Palm Springs for many years, and I will truly miss him.

It makes me wonder like, who all is really booking? RentMen has been quieter than ever. I keep the ad up for my reviews and advertising travels: but a recent browse thru my nearest major city area, there’s 50 guys advertising (17x 3 rows on Rent.Men) with the World Cup matches in town. And this is a place that has historically never really been that consistent in terms of bookings. A few years ago, that number was probably only around 10 or less on most days. So how is 500% more escorts doing any favors? It’s a fucking joke 🃏 
 
Across the board: I feel most men browsing for sex aren’t actively seeking the paid sites as much. And in case someone thinks “the more escorts the better for the clients”, well there’s a caveat to that. If there’s dozens of options, would it make it harder to find the right one? If a client can’t keep up with all the options and just wants to contact a bunch and play on the phone, that can easily earn a bad rep down the line. And on a site with multiple options but no rates, how many times are clients having to text around and ask for prices?
And without leaving the topic of prices: I understand some have their budget, but I’m having to turn down some bookings simply because they want something that is only going to break me even or less. Like I stated above, doubling up on clients when it’s already fewer to go around is more speculation than reality. So setting up an in-call session in a city an hour away from me or where hotels are running $100/$200 a night: $200-300 isn’t always going to cover the bases. 
 
And in case there’s any doubt: I’ve done the lower rates, made exceptions, etc: it doesn’t always mean more visits or more regulars. 
Also I want the idea that every advertiser is seeing multiple clients in a day to be understood. That is mostly the reality for masseur guys who tend to welcome higher volume but also have prices that may reel more people in. I personally don’t have the desire to see 4-5-6 dudes in one day, or cum so much that it hurts. Nor do I want to “withhold” cumming every time, because I have more clients to see that day.
I’m been working towards a lower volume, more streamlined experience.

I recently had a masseur who I saw regularly for 2 years at least twice a month and sometimes more. He would give me a slightly discounted rate and would allow extras. Recently I was told I would have to pay higher rate and extras wouldn't be allowed in the future. I was disappointed my loyalty wasn't considered. But I respect his decision.  Just sad I probably won't visit again.

Just saw this.  In over 20 years of working I only raised my rate 4 times.  In the very beginning from $800 to $1000 for an overnight (not long after that I had to stop doing overnights after my Partner requested it) and hourly in the beginning from $200 to $220 and then, after many many many years, $220 to $250. Lastly, my massage rate was a very very low $85 for a very very long time, I was undercutting everyone and I was also a very good masseur.  I never loved massage the way I loved escorting, so I raised it to $140, hoping that was close enough to $220 for most/many to choose escorting instead.   
In each of those cases I never raised the rates on those men I'd been seeing for a long time and especially not those I saw regularly.  As much as your regulars love you, they have complicated lives and a small increase anyone can afford may be what they rationalize to stop hiring..  Best to stay consistent if you want to keep them.  That was just my approach.

Good question. I just reached out to 2 new (to me) guys in NYC and both were asking $800. I'm glad that they can ask for it, but it would be a pass for me unfortunatley. I miss the days when I thought $300 was a lot! lol. 

The fees everywhere are outrageous. They've increased so much past the yearly cost of living it's ridiculous.
 
I do miss the opportunity to have a lot more sex with a lot hotter guys than has been my usual over the last 14 years since I lost my career. But consider this. I was making a lowish six figure salary. And even with that I think my hiring would have slowed down with the fees these days-or would have tried to stick with mostly regulars who would've grandfathered in my fee.  If only clients would revolt against these ridiculous fees. But since some guys will continue to pay these fees no matter what they are, the fees will continue to rise all over and not just in NYC. 
I guess there is an upside to my low testosterone level and lowered sex drive after all. I mean I still get frustrated at my lack of sex (well not so much for the last few months as I'm in a relationship) But if I had the sex drive I had even 10 years ago, my frustration at the infrequency of my sexual encounters due to not being able to hire anymore  would be quite painful.
