I'm good with magic pills as long as the risk-reward tradeoff makes sense. Just as antipsychotics turn off voices in the heads of schizophrenic people, GLP1s the constant feelings of hunger that cause obesity in the first place. So far, so good Of course, the question is what are the medium- to long-term side effects of the drug itself? Big pharma's constant gaslighting ("These side effects are caused by rapid weight loss. Nothing to see here." does not help. Time will tell.
-
You're right. The only people losing weight on that dose are the off label 'tired of my cellulite" patients, whom the pharma companies are openly courting.
-
Good idea. I'm doing the same. May it work out for both of us!

I'm really sorry you've had such a painful few months and didn't even lose any weight! No amount of weight loss is worth what you've suffered. How were the size effects on the 0.25 mg dose? If you felt ok then, you could ask your doctor to stay on that dose. Some people do that and lose weight slowly. The starter doses are hard to find right now though. Some people who can't tolerate Ozempic ask the pharmacy for extra tips and split the dose in half or thirds. This apparently cuts down on the side effects but may decrease efficacy. Dose splitting is not sanctioned but I spoke to my doctor about it when we discussed Ozempic, and she had no problem with it. (As I mentioned, I have yet to try the medication. I did discuss it with my doctor.) Of course, none of this is medical advice. Only your doctor can provide that.

Damn! This tour has been cancelled. I would have made a special trip for this. The drug markets are the best part; I'd probably bounce after that. One of the board's old timers, @Trixie, posted about meeting companions in the Tenderloin.

It's an outrage! Moving company hires buff-bodied beauties :(
+ FreshFluff replied to samhexum's topic in The Lounge
Every time I see those Hunks Moving Junk signs on a roadway medians, I feel terrible for the movers. I imagine a 50something male customer angrily calling customer service to complain that his movers aren't hunks. The movers, who are tired and sweaty after a long move, hear the call and feel sad and helpless. I prefer the name Meathead Movers, which promises only that your movers will not start quoting Balzac. -

Most people applying for moving jobs want reliable hourly wages. The office positions at moving companies are mostly commission-based sales jobs, so they won't fit the bill. -
Belated happy birthday, @nate_sf!

Laureen Sánchez & Jeff Bezos saucy picture! Your thoughts!
+ FreshFluff replied to marylander1940's topic in The Lounge
The photo shoot is pretentious and silly. I don't really care about it either way. People, especially women, resent Sanchez because she's less attractive and more gauche than we expect a multi-billionaire's fiancee to be -- and possibly less attractive than his first wife. If Bezos had hooked up with, say, George Clooney's wife, no one would have batted an eye. -
You're doing awesome, Sam. Few people lose weight on Metformin, so you already had a major head start. And no comsti;ation--excellent! 35 pounds in 6 months is great--just slow enough the weight loss will be easier to maintain. You must be over the moon.

I can’t tell how much of this is serious. Are you on a GLP1, whether Rybelsus or Ozempic? If so, are you able to maintain muscle mass ? Is the constipation really bad?

This--along with the Gi stuff-- has kept me from pulling the trigger.

Happy birthday to @jawjateck, one of my old friends on COM!

About 2 years ago, I came across this 1987 Apple promo video, showing an iPad-like device that the user interacts with via a video avatar. I decided to start using Siri since it's the future and all. I mainly use it often to dictate and send texts, to turn the volume down when I'm listening to music, and to interact with Maps.

Trekking poles for hiking with bad knees?
+ FreshFluff replied to + FreshFluff's topic in Men's Health
Some of the expensive ones wear out fast too, especially the light carbon ones made. I wanted a light one too so I am hoping for the best. I just want to get back to the hill walking I used to do--without wearing out the little kneecap cartilage I have left. -
I really enjoy hill walking, and it's good for my cardio fitness. For now, I'm hiking on paved asphalt paths. Unfortunately, downhill walking is hard on my worn kneecap. (I'm in PT to strengthen my glutes and hamstrings.) I've tried leaning into the hill and walking down on a zig zag, but my left knee still hurts afterwards. Has anyone found trekking poles useful for easing pressure on the joints while going downhill? I found some very light collapsible ones to use while descending. While walking uphill, I'd rather let my lower body/glutes do the work. Can the poles be carried in one hand when needed?

Skin tags are typically benign. "Bumps" may or may not be. I've had 3 non-melanoma skin cancers despite careful protection from sun exposure. My advice: If you have a pearly pink "pimple" that won't heal or a mole that has changed, request a referral to derm. If you have a family history of skin cancer, have had a lot of sun exposure, or have fair skin, a derm should do a skin exam annually. This is not only to check for melanoma, but for non-melanoma skin cancers like squamous and basal cell carcinomas. Basal cell carcinoma is very common and has a near-zero mortality rate, but surgery and reconstruction becomes more disfiguring as the malignancy grows. Take steps to catch it early.

Palm Springs is beautiful, even during a tropical storm. This video makes me want to visit.

Lines of hopeful buyers have formed in front of Hermes stores. Of course, anyone willing to stand in line is not elite enough to qualify for the bag.. IYKYK

Yeah, when someone at the high school across town scored a 1600, the local newspaper published a profile of the kid. Even a 1550 was a huge deal. I’m impressed that ETS hired you to revise the test. Tell us more!
