  1. Josh, I appreciate your post and your empathy. I think we have to be careful with the bolded assumption. I was blessed with a great metabolism, and I had maintained a BMI of 19-21 all my life through portion control alone. Unfortunately, I got into the habit of eating a lot right before bed (3 AM for me) to help me sleep. Studies published over the past year have found that this contributes to weight gain. So it did with me. I started by correcting that. I then slowly added new steps—reducing calories here, substituting protein for carbs there, walking more. Resistance training is next. I’ve lost 5% of my weight without too much sacrifice. I have plateaued over the past week. Losing weight gets harder with age, especially for women. The question is whether I will be able to lose another 15 pounds while eating enough that I feel satisfied and am not distracted by hunger. I was offered semaglutide and decided to try diet and exercise first. The hair loss and sarcopenia are just not worth it for me. I don’t think we should judge non-diabetics who want to try it, even if they aren’t planning to go on an elaborate diet. After all, the whole point of the GLP1s is to allow people to lose weight with small portions without constant hunger. That’s a reasonable desire for any patient.
  2. The Novo Nordisk spokesperson also told Best Life that the company "cannot validate the safety or effectiveness of compounded products claiming to contain semaglutide that are not one of our own branded products. Compounded products do not have the same safety, quality and effectiveness assurances as our FDA-approved drugs and may expose patients to health risks. Patients can help protect themselves by only buying medicines from legitimate sources and with a prescription from a healthcare professional." Pharma gonna pharma 😏
  3. Thanks. From the graffiti, I figured it would be sketchy. Where's the CHP when you need them? Maybe one of you PS locals can escort me. @Oliver, want to come hang out a freeway exit?
  4. She's 51? She looks amazing. I can see why she wants to live it up while she can.
  5. I found this spot onlne, and it just looks perfect because of the lights in the distance. I'd take a walk there today if I lived in the area. As @azdr0710 knows, I'm a big fan of outdoor cruising spots, especially those on freeway exits or near rivers and railroad tracks. I've never been to one but hope to aoon For the curious, here's the location. Per Squirt, the CHP makes u-turns here so be wary. 65555 Varner Rd, Desert Hot Springs, California | Instant Google Street View WWW.INSTANTSTREETVIEW.COM 65555 Varner Rd, Desert Hot Springs, California | Instant Street View
  6. It's on an empty road off I-10 and Palm Drive. The idea that men are getting it on in this peaceful spot is so calming. I will think of it as I drift off to sleep. Would it be safe to hang out there at 1 AM?
  7. Merry Christmas to all! I'm so glad to be a part of this community.
  8. I'm good with magic pills as long as the risk-reward tradeoff makes sense. Just as antipsychotics turn off voices in the heads of schizophrenic people, GLP1s the constant feelings of hunger that cause obesity in the first place. So far, so good Of course, the question is what are the medium- to long-term side effects of the drug itself? Big pharma's constant gaslighting ("These side effects are caused by rapid weight loss. Nothing to see here." does not help. Time will tell.
  9. You're right. The only people losing weight on that dose are the off label 'tired of my cellulite" patients, whom the pharma companies are openly courting.
  10. Good idea. I'm doing the same. May it work out for both of us!
  11. I'm really sorry you've had such a painful few months and didn't even lose any weight! No amount of weight loss is worth what you've suffered. How were the size effects on the 0.25 mg dose? If you felt ok then, you could ask your doctor to stay on that dose. Some people do that and lose weight slowly. The starter doses are hard to find right now though. Some people who can't tolerate Ozempic ask the pharmacy for extra tips and split the dose in half or thirds. This apparently cuts down on the side effects but may decrease efficacy. Dose splitting is not sanctioned but I spoke to my doctor about it when we discussed Ozempic, and she had no problem with it. (As I mentioned, I have yet to try the medication. I did discuss it with my doctor.) Of course, none of this is medical advice. Only your doctor can provide that.
  12. Damn! This tour has been cancelled. I would have made a special trip for this. The drug markets are the best part; I'd probably bounce after that. One of the board's old timers, @Trixie, posted about meeting companions in the Tenderloin.
  13. Every time I see those Hunks Moving Junk signs on a roadway medians, I feel terrible for the movers. I imagine a 50something male customer angrily calling customer service to complain that his movers aren't hunks. The movers, who are tired and sweaty after a long move, hear the call and feel sad and helpless. I prefer the name Meathead Movers, which promises only that your movers will not start quoting Balzac.
  14. Most people applying for moving jobs want reliable hourly wages. The office positions at moving companies are mostly commission-based sales jobs, so they won't fit the bill.
  15. Belated happy birthday, @nate_sf!
  16. The photo shoot is pretentious and silly. I don't really care about it either way. People, especially women, resent Sanchez because she's less attractive and more gauche than we expect a multi-billionaire's fiancee to be -- and possibly less attractive than his first wife. If Bezos had hooked up with, say, George Clooney's wife, no one would have batted an eye.
  17. You're doing awesome, Sam. Few people lose weight on Metformin, so you already had a major head start. And no comsti;ation--excellent! 35 pounds in 6 months is great--just slow enough the weight loss will be easier to maintain. You must be over the moon.
  18. I can’t tell how much of this is serious. Are you on a GLP1, whether Rybelsus or Ozempic? If so, are you able to maintain muscle mass ? Is the constipation really bad?
  19. This--along with the Gi stuff-- has kept me from pulling the trigger.
  20. Happy birthday to @jawjateck, one of my old friends on COM!
  21. About 2 years ago, I came across this 1987 Apple promo video, showing an iPad-like device that the user interacts with via a video avatar. I decided to start using Siri since it's the future and all. I mainly use it often to dictate and send texts, to turn the volume down when I'm listening to music, and to interact with Maps.
