  1. Some of the expensive ones wear out fast too, especially the light carbon ones made. I wanted a light one too so I am hoping for the best. I just want to get back to the hill walking I used to do--without wearing out the little kneecap cartilage I have left.
  2. I really enjoy hill walking, and it's good for my cardio fitness. For now, I'm hiking on paved asphalt paths. Unfortunately, downhill walking is hard on my worn kneecap. (I'm in PT to strengthen my glutes and hamstrings.) I've tried leaning into the hill and walking down on a zig zag, but my left knee still hurts afterwards. Has anyone found trekking poles useful for easing pressure on the joints while going downhill? I found some very light collapsible ones to use while descending. While walking uphill, I'd rather let my lower body/glutes do the work. Can the poles be carried in one hand when needed?
  3. Skin tags are typically benign. "Bumps" may or may not be. I've had 3 non-melanoma skin cancers despite careful protection from sun exposure. My advice: If you have a pearly pink "pimple" that won't heal or a mole that has changed, request a referral to derm. If you have a family history of skin cancer, have had a lot of sun exposure, or have fair skin, a derm should do a skin exam annually. This is not only to check for melanoma, but for non-melanoma skin cancers like squamous and basal cell carcinomas. Basal cell carcinoma is very common and has a near-zero mortality rate, but surgery and reconstruction becomes more disfiguring as the malignancy grows. Take steps to catch it early.
  4. Palm Springs is beautiful, even during a tropical storm. This video makes me want to visit.
  5. Lines of hopeful buyers have formed in front of Hermes stores. Of course, anyone willing to stand in line is not elite enough to qualify for the bag.. IYKYK
  6. Yeah, when someone at the high school across town scored a 1600, the local newspaper published a profile of the kid. Even a 1550 was a huge deal. I’m impressed that ETS hired you to revise the test. Tell us more!
  7. Almost every college accepts both now. It's like bell bottoms coming into style again.
  8. This sounds like so much fun. Like a wild version of the TH in NYC.
  9. The alleged stabber’s lawyer has quit. The new lawyer is from Florida. Lawyer representing man accused of killing Bob Lee steps down WWW.SFGATE.COM The lawyer representing Nima Momeni, the man accused of killing Bob Lee, confirmed she's...
  10. You’re right. He got laid but not like Bob. Per the Mission Local, this is what local sex workers said about him.
  11. To be fair, there was a similar video called “Girls Beware.” Of course, it focused on male predators. People at the time weren’t really concerned about 15 year old boys having sex with 19 year old women. For one thing, boys molested by women weren’t murdered and didn’t turn up at school pregnant. As you say, things look very different from a modern perspective.
  12. 25% of reported cases? Of convictions? Parents are more likely to sweep the molestation of teen girls under the rug(”she should have refused”) than they are for boys. We see this with the disproportionate concern about “grooming” by gay men.
  13. I’m impressed at how good the tits look at that age especially since med/large ones like that tend to sag. With a little titty tape, she could have looked even better.
  14. The post above, on the other hand, presents no research on the subject at hand and offers no useful insights. Danny-Darko posted that if he were me, he would seek out multiple opinions on Metformin. I sought out only one doctor’s opinion on this. And yet you insist that I will seek multiple opinions because I did so year's ago on a different (and more serious) issue. When you present research, I read it and take it seriously. But the post above is simple bullying -- logic-free bullying.
  15. You told me yesterday that you had nothing more to say to me, but here you are again.
  16. Did either of you read my post? As I said, I'm trying non-Rx options first. I'm a normal person trying to fight my metabolism without resorting to Ozempic. Enough with the bullying already
  17. Interesting about Metformin. Dosage is low for this indication, but I too am concerned about driving A1c too low. About Ozempic, the percentage of people on it whose BMI is under 25 is likely small. Anecdotally, it has become more widespread over the past year, and Canadian pharmacies began to ship it to the US for about half the price. The manufacturer's silence on all this speaks volumes. As for me, I don't have a pool handy and I like to listen to music while I exercise, which is hard to do in a pool. My ortho thinks walking is ok as long as I wear heavily cushioned shoes. I am in an area filled with beautiful hiking trails, and would like to hike again someday soon.
  18. This study is interesting. I have what my ortho calls beaten-up kneecap, with moderate to severe cartilage defects all over. An ortho told me that every pound I can lose will be helpful for minimizing further wear tear on it. And yeah, semaglutide is being prescribed to relatively thin people now, largely via telehealth. I simplyspoke to my endo about pros and cons; she is the only doctor I have spoken to about this issue. As for me, I'm trialing one last non-Rx option before taking the leap into Rx stuff. The risks of semaglutide make Ozempic a no go (my endo pointed out a few extra ones too), but it's hard to see so many people losing weight effortlessly.
  19. I appreciate the advice Despite my best efforts, I'm now at nearly 100% risk of becoming overweight. Even my current weight is taking a toll on my knees, not to mention my self-image. I’m already doing weekly PT and walking. Lifting weights would be great but it’s tough because of my knee/neck issues. I’m looking for any solution. I doubt Metformin will work, but it’s cheap and safe. Btw, the “normal” BMI range is very broad. Life at a BMI of 24 is very different from life at 21.
  20. The unexplained degeneration on my kneecaps and neck though. I can never run again. One doctor wants me to do pool aerobics. 😱
  21. This is good to know. It's sometimes prescribed for weight loss, as GLP-1 antagonists are.
  22. Yes. It was 5.3 a few years ago though, then 5.1. This makes no sense given my diet.
