Happy belated birthday, Oliver! Hope you had a great one.

It turns out that rest is really important for preventing long COVID. I have a headache but I’ve been restless, so I walking around a lot. I’ll try to sit more.

In answer to the question about IVs, I typically use oral rehydration salts when I’m dehydrated. I just wasn’t able to take in fluids quicky enough this time.
-
Exactly. I dined outdoors only, whether it was 32 or 90 degrees. And it was always about long COVID, as I was never really worried about severe symptoms. Really sicksvtk get it now, when the surge has receded.
-
Thanks, everyone. No fever but I didn't sleep at all last night and am very dehydrated. IV fluids were helpful.

Yes, I meant long COVID. That's what I care about. As you say, I'm not that worried about being hospitalized.

I want to a party and let myself get peer pressured into taking off my N-95. Totally not worth it. Today, I tested positive for the first time. We’ll see how the symptoms go, but I'm more worried about long COVID and lingering symptoms than the immediate symptoms. I may feel differently when the symptoms worsen. There appears to be little research on whether Paxlovod is associated with decreased rates of COVID. I’m going to talk to my internist about this today.

@Gymowner, I have found your man.

TBH, when I come across any insect, I guide it onto a paper towel and put it outside. I’m currently in a high rise so they might fall, but at least I won’t crush them. There are exceptions. I was once awakened by a noisy flying thingy that was cruising the ceiling. I crushed it with a broom handle. Sleep is important.

NYT article: https://t.co/w5hjsNbimI Jody Smith, 33, a software developer, so far has declined. Mr. Smith is vegan, yet not an absolutist: he will exterminate cockroaches in his apartment in Manhattan’s Union Square, he said. But the state-endorsed bloodlust when it comes to lanternflies, and the sense that they are disposable, makes him uncomfortable. “If someone was like, ‘Oh, we have to kill all the Pomeranians, people might feel a lot differently about it,” Mr. Smith said.

http://socialintelligence.labinthewild.org/mite/ (Skip past the questions at the start) or https://s3.amazonaws.com/he-assets-prod/interactives/233_reading_the_mind_through_eyes/Launch.html (This one gives you the answer after each question) I took a version that did not show answers and did best on it the first time. The more time I spent thinking about each one, the worse I did. (Source: Simon Baron-Cohen, Sacha’s psychologist brother, and his colleagues created this test for a 2001 paper.)

I remember what life was like before caller ID was widespread.

All the top school MBAs I know are prestige whores. I’ll show myself out.

Thev 1954 tv show, the world we want, which brought high school students from all over the world to discuss social issues. Gotta love the British girl colonialistsplaining that Britain will decide when countries are ready for independence. I also wonder what happened to that incredibly articulate and charming Philippino kid; he must have become a politician or a journalist.

When public transportation was so fun that people got on just to party

When bands used pay phones to promote themselves. Wait for it..

I absolutely loved Coronado Island. The heavy military presence and “Arrest Fauci” signs somehow add to the ambience.
