I've only been stiffed once. It was a forum member, during one of the DC meetups. Both clients and providers warned me ahead of time that he was known to pull stunts, so I wasn't surprised when at the end of the session he claimed to have lost his wallet. He put on quite the act, trying to look panicked and all. "Where is my wallet? OMG, I've lost my wallet!!!" I just sat and watched his performance for a couple of minutes, then showed him the door. (For what it's worth, I don't believe he posts on this forum anymore, let alone attend any of the events)

I like to ask providers this very question when I'm paying them at the end of the session and no one so far has said it has happened to them. 😅

Makes me think about Six Feet Under, where every episode you have a death at the beginning and it plays into the ongoing story. How entertaining would it be to have a show about hookers where you start each episode with a scene involving a new John? HBO style with gratuitous nudity (or not, entertaining either way). It would be fictional of course, just like writing a book, if not for the legal and privacy reasons, then for narrative cohesiveness and creative reasons. All you need are a few well developed characters, some story arc trajectories and the script practically writes itself.

Getting the thread back on-topic...No, I do not think you should ask for a discount. If the services are not what you typically get (i.e. a massage on a table) then don't hire the provider.

If the guy is charging $200 for a massage on a bed, I'm thinking this is less therapeutic/skilled massage, and more likely something more erotic. There's some more of that wiggle room! 😛
If there's a charge for parking, presumably it's a good hotel and that comes with some expense for the provider as well. I know that when I travel, I think about the setting, and also how it will be perceived by the client. I don't want to invite a client to meet me at the Red Roof Inn, even if the parking is free.
@Simon Suraci had a good suggestion, that the provider find a rental that's well-located with street parking. That can work really well, though the last time I did that on a trip, a client came in and said it was too bad there wasn't a hotel bar to have a drink at first. (Note to self: next time find an Airbnb down the street from a bar...)

My rate is slightly higher than that.   At $200.00,  you are doing well,  especially if the reviews are supportive.    I'd pay the parking and not say anything.   If the time is well spent,  it will be worth it.

Have you thought about parking a few blocks away and walk to him?
If you want a legitimate massage and a table must be included instead of a bed, I would simply take my business somewhere else.
If $40 or $20 makes such a difference in a budget, getting a regular for a lower price might another choice.

Yeah I initially thought he was talking about an escort too and was like $200 for an escort? Damn that's a great deal for his time! Personally $200 is not super unusual for masseuers in my area although many of them provide somewhat "erotic" experiences like oral/mutual touching, etc at that price.
But other places are different. I've had some excellent massages on beds. Actually I feel like some masseurs can get a little deeper when they're kind of on top of in ways that beds provide. My guess is that this guy is also a hybrid escort/masseur and travelling with a table is a big pain. In my opinion, visiting masseurs don't often have a table unless they're on a road trip or something. Paying for parking at a hotel sucks but perhaps you can avoid it by street parking? I've often scheduled downtown visits on Sunday when street parking downtown is both free and usually more plentiful during the week. Personally don't mind a little walk if it saves me money.
Overall $200 for a really good, well-reviewed and hot masseur especially if there's "erotic" elements is a fairly normal price. I mean you can try to say that's too high but I would be suprised if the escort would budge much. If he's hot and well-reviewed, I think he would likely find clients who would pay for his services at that rate.

I’m in the “no haggling” camp. Having done contract work in the past, nothing set my teeth on edge more than someone asking for me to lower the monetary value of my services for this, that, or the other. If, on the rare occasion when I HAD to accept the lower rate, you can rest assured that the client received diminished efforts commensurate with their haggled rate.
If the table and parking are that much of a sticking point, just pass on this provider. There are others who will work for a rate that fits your budget. If this provider is a must have, then pull funds from another line item of your budget and go have fun.

Well, I don't think their interior dialogue is often QUITE like that. :-) They are being opportunistic, but not likely consciously disparaging you.
However, if the escort or masseur feels/assumes that the client asks for less than advertised rates because he sees us as less than and desperate, there will be resentment, understandably, and the hour will likely not be great.
AND now, I predict that since this thread has gotten out of the hands of the clients, the powers that be will soon call it OFF topic (ostensibly because of the word "escort" in a MASSAGE thread) and lock it down.

Thanks this is helpful and interesting. I had a sense that the number of reviews is declining because of RM changes. It probably is but it also sounds like a lot of providers just don't get reviews very often. Thanks you for your perspective on this.

As a provider, I never ask for or solicit reviews, and my numbers are in that same range. My RM profile has been active since December 2015 and I've received a total of 15 reviews, which works out to about 1.8 reviews per year. I greatly value these reviews, but they've come on their own, and I appreciate it when clients want to share their experience with others. However my business model does not rely on them.
That begs the question, would I have more business if I solicited reviews? I can't answer that. But at least from the perspective of a provider who does not solicit or rely on reviews, the changes to RM's policies don't appear to have had any impacts on my business.
My sense for new guys would be that their newness would overcome any issues with having few if any reviews. Presumably they'll attract clients who don't care about reviews. But I'm just guessing.

I've always taken the stellar reviews on rentmen, especially in a huge volume, with a grain of salt. I say that mainly because there are established providers who I continue to see (some in Denver) who have been on the site for 15-20 years and have only 15-20 reviews. At best, that's an avg of 1.3 per year.
That provider may have had only 1 review the first year.  Solely based upon the numbers, it may be a bad bet. However, when I consider that I had a great session, never left a review there, and other members here have given a great review, it really challenges the amount faith I can put in the just those numbers.

Just curious, but how do you know if you’ve been put on a “no re-hire” list? Did the provider tell you not to contact him again, or give some other indication that he won’t see you again?
I’m just asking in case you might be reading more into this than intended. Hopefully that’s the case!
