my Mom also meticulously checked the eggs in cartons for cracks and I remember seeing her do this ever since I was very little......nowadays, though I'll eat an omelette in a restaurant as is, I don't like yolk or that stringy white thing coming out of it (my mom and her mom always cut that thing away and, after I heard what it is, I'm very thankful for them).....Costco has taken care of that and made it easy for me.......
