  1. I'm concerned that barebacking is becoming the norm because at least in the US only a fraction of MSM are taking PreP consistently and it seems like most of them are people who wouldn't have needed it anyway.

What evidence do you have that only a "fraction" are taking PreP consistently?

And I'm at a complete loss to understand the second part of your post. If they're in the MSM category, how can they not need to be talking PreP?

Finally, if barebacking concerns you, don't do it.

  2. Agree with Bayguy - super distracted - checking phone a lot. Not worth it. Ended massage early - not worth the time.

Checking your phone even once is unforgivable. I've gotten off the table more than once when this happened to me. Paid for the time spent and left.

  3. One guy I’ve seen a few times advertised 10+ years younger than he was and that he was from the Midwest. Instead he grew up in the OC, was shorter and much older than listed, and had tattoos all over when the photos showed none.

So basically he completely misrepresented himself in his ad. I would have politely excused myself as soon he opened the door.

  4. If you had attended as many memorial services as I did back in the 1980's for friends who died AIDS related deaths, you might not be so flippant with your remarks.

Except a lot of those who died in the 80s (including my own brother and many of my friends) were likely infected before the virus was isolated, before doctors knew what caused AIDS, and how to prevent its spread. I agree with caliguy.

  5. Morally speaking, if an escort is HIV+, should he even be escorting? If he contracted any contagious disease, wouldn't it be proper to not expose others? If an escort has a bout with the flu or a cold sore erupts, he lies low for a while. Why wouldn't he cease escorting altogether if he contracted something far worse? Unless, of course, if the prospective client is made fully aware and chooses to hire him anyway.

How about the flip side? Shouldn't HIV+ clients stop hiring escorts? If fact taken to the extreme, shouldn't all HIV+ folks just stop having sex all together? "Wouldn't it be proper not to expose others?"

  6. Unless you don't intend to fck, it's a totally reasonable question. But likewise I would add that the escort also has the right to ask the client's status.

How so? Whether you intend to fuck or not is not the issue. The issue is whether you believe the reply. From your post it appears that the answer would have a bearing (baring?) on what activities you'd include in your encounter and/or the use of condoms. If a stranger tells you they're negative and you believe them and then have unsafe sex you're an idiot to think it means there is no potential exposure to HIV (or any other STDs). Even if the stranger did receive a negative result, the result is only as good as his last sexual encounter prior to being tested. If he's having unsafe sex with you he's also having unsafe sex with other people who are also saying "don't worry, I'm negative."

All of us are free to act as we see fit every time we fuck. Just make sure you understand that each encounter has risk and you shouldn't rely on the "don't worry I'm negative" bullshit. Same for "don't worry I'm on PrEP." What he's really saying are two potential falsehoods, "I'm negative AND I'm on PrEP." Again, believe if you want to but understand the risk.

If people ask me, I tell them I'm negative and on PrEP but I also tell them they it's a meaningless question and they shouldn't believe me. Carlos45 gives the best advice, assume everyone is positive and act accordingly.

  7. You dodged a bullet. Always trust your gut and stay away from the crazies.

I meet a guy in LA once (I live in the Bay Area) who was cute and the hookup sex was great. He asked for my phone number and address. (This was back in the early days of email and texting, writing that seems so quait now.) I gave him my address but something told me not to give him my phone number so I changed the last digit.

Within three days of my return I had three different letters from him saying he tried to call but the number was wrong. Without time for me to respond, the fourth letter came handwritten in all caps where by he cussed me out for not responding to him, called me a drug addict, insulted my friends and parents for the way I was raised, and said our relationship was over and I was never to contact him again!

So glad I never gave that psycho my real phone number.

  8. I did. Effeminate is a hair too a strong word. Again I actually think that’s a fine thing; it just surprised me in this instance.

Effete: adjective - lacking in wholesome vigor; degenerate; decadent: an effete, overrefined society.
