I realize that this is a truly impossible thing to describe as I felt it - and believe me, if I had felt more comfortable with the guy as I perceived him, I might have tried to keep the conversation going, etc. But in the moment, it felt so bizarre (and truly not safe) that I did the only thing that made sense - to get out of there as gracefully as I could.
