sure, it's ok to ask! you might even want to frame it something like this - "i had a great time, and i think you're really hot. i would love to follow you on social media and show you some support. would you be willing to give me that info?"

some folks may not want to share because of the personal nature of their social media. most will at least have a twitter or instagram or something that is for their "sex persona"

God oh God. Please stop using Instagram. A person can make an argument, I guess, for the utility of twitter such that it does make it easy to follow Nytimes The Economist BBC News Fox news etc. But when I see EVERYONE in front of me in line, wherever, on instagram my heart just breaks. Such a worthless worthless time suck; granted this is based just on what I see on everyone's screens, which is vapid shit and nothing else, I've never actually used it.

other than seeing folks looking at it, what's your issue with instagram specifically?

In many cases their phone number, once in my smartphone contacts, seems to add them to FB and IG suggested follow-worthies.

------

One issue that I have is that many hot guys post the same photos scattered throughout the collection, and the photo timeframe actually gets distorted unless you scroll to its initial presentation. Now I realize that perhaps they do not remove the previous post after reposting it because it would eliminate the earlier comments ... is that the case? Sometimes it is framed as a "throwback", but otherwise what is the point? It just seems to be attention-seeking and obsessional. For me, it lowers their stock value.

I am tempted to comment: "Yeah, looks identical to the previous [x] number of occasions you posted this pic. How many validation comments will satisfy the bottomless pit of your need for admiration? Do you suffer from narcissism or early onset dementia?"

You make some good points @SirBIllybob

To me, it seems that many handsome young men on IG are insecure about their looks/physique. They need validation. When I was looking to meet guys on a regular basis, I quite liked that. I found that giving them some nice compliments on their face/body and their travel plans made it easy to open talks about us meeting for a date ;-)

Good insight, to be sure, Viconte. The question about their travel plans is seduction gold.

Maybe I should soften my comment on their cloned posts... "I loved the initial release, and now the Netflix, Prime, and DVD versions have me hooked. Keep it up. How can I get your autograph?"

Too much on the nose? ?

The shallowness of the content. I don't use twitter, but as I said Twitter streamlines following multiple news sites such as those I listed, so I suppose it could have some utility. Instagram, useless photos of useless stuff; the suckiest of time sucks. You're better off reading a book, or staring off into space.

you've definitely got a strong opinion of something you've never spent time using!

your response does point to the possibility that instagram, like all social media, could be a time suck. i think that's more about how you use it, as i've experienced both the timesuck aspect (usually when *i'm* looking for a distraction) as well as enjoying content that enlightens, entertains, and educates me.

Earlier tonight I created an account. I looked at the pages of friends: All photos of food and hotel rooms and clothes. I looked at the accounts Instagram recommended: All photos of food and clothing and dogs and babies in pink jumpers. This is the same junk I saw on the phones people held in line ahead of me, as I explained earlier.

I see no depth, just self-absorption. I see no value in social media. RSS feeds, on the other hand, are fantastic.

If I'm wrong, point me to the weighty 'grams, now that I signed up because I'm too insecure to allow a challenge to fall, a decision I'm certain will bite me in the ass someday.

It depends on whether you want to tease him or top him ;-)

My approach was “I love your pics but so many guys edit their pics. How can I be sure that you’re really so stunning in person?”

Most guys knew it was outrageous flattery but they still lapped it up. Normally they suggested meeting...and I suggested drinks and dinner

Haven’t met many guys through Instagram but sure have enjoyed the feeds of many fitness models, bodybuilders, etc. That’s on one account I have specifically for that purpose.

On my personal one, I see lots of pics of friend and relarive’s kids, excerpts from concerts, great inspirational quotes and videos, funny stuff. etc. All depends on who you follow and what the algorithm figured out you like.

That's funny. I also have a second instagram account for that very reason. I follow porn starts, escorts and some actual models on that account. I also have a fair number of "models" with only fans pages.
