Is A4A even worth it?

So after waiting forever for some reason (mostly because I hate their website design), I finally put up an ad on A4A. Now I know this is just my own experience so far after like 2 days, and isn't really the best thing to go off of, but honestly this is like 1/2 a question and 1/2 a bit of a rant haha.

I've had like tons of contact on A4A, which is probably largely due to my ad being new, and some of it has been positive and hopeful.. but a fair amount of it has just downright rude and disrespectful. My normal rate is pretty normal and competitive with everyone else in the area, not only on RM but also on A4A, and a few of these people advertise the same rate on both. However unlike RM, I've been getting a lot of people on A4A contacting me and telling me my rate is outrageous and way too much. I tell people I'm willing to negotiate a little bit if they would like, but their idea of what my rate 'should be' is definitely far too low to negotiate down to at all. I'm guessing this because they never bother throwing out a counter-offer.

Now so far I'm guessing that this is partially because people looking at RM are just more knowledgeable and respectful clients, whereas some people use this like totally out-dated A4A site for just hooking up still -- they see the ads and then scoff at the rate, even though they don't really know what they're talking about. Maybe it makes them feel better about themselves somehow.

TL;DR: I'm just curious about everyone's opinion on here; Is A4A even worth running an ad on? Like I'm curious about what experiences people here have had with gaining clients through A4A? Thanks!

I cautioned...using a4a, you’re going to get the first wave of wankers, then it’ll settle down. But for the most part...once you do, then you learn that not every profile is worth replying to. Easier to leave your number and just see who texts or calls.

Stick with the rate, don’t get talked down just because they feel a certain way. After using it for 10 years, I’ve learned you’ll come across the $80 types just as well as the $250 types.

It’s also location dependent. Some cities, adam4adam is good. Others, don’t even log in unless you want to be frustrated.

As a client I love A4A. I have met amazing guys there, and many of my favorite guys who publish in RM also do in Adam.

It does caters to a range of clients that cannot afford regularly the standard rate in RM, group I belong to. I get lower rates and often the same or a better quality. Many times I met very inexperienced guys, very open to learn. Many others I contact in Adam a premium guy who also publishes in RM, knowing that I will get a better price.

I also love Adam as a hooking up resource. I have not been very lucky in Grindr or Scruff, but in Adam I hook up pretty often.

I’d say the only thing that doesn’t make it so worth it now, is the fact they’ve taken rates out and also crop photos. This is in addition to chopping off our dick sizes and other sexual stats. They used to allow ads saying escort, now it’s just masseur. They also regular cut and crop words and photos without warning.

So to answer the question if it’s worth it...depends what $30 and a little weeding thru is worth. If I had another side job, I wouldn’t want to spend the extra time.

A4A is a total waste of my time. The only reason I keep my ad is because of the past clients that I still get in touch with through there when I travel, plus, it's only $25/month. I've heavily considered reaching out to my clients on there and moving them over to regular email so I can get rid of my ad. 80% of my emails on there are compliments and people trying to hookup even though I clearly state that I'm only looking for clients, and to contact me directly through my website.

That’s the thing, sometimes no matter how much you leave your number or website up, they’ll only book if you hold a conversation thru the site first.

I kind of become more lenient with the site and will chat for a bit, but they have to be in the direction to book. Then I just keep leaving my number in every email, and then drift off. If they keep seeing the number enough, eventually they’ll hit it up.

One of my a4a regulars in El Paso Texas, I’ve not seen him since 2013. Seen me on a4a earlier this year, booked me and I drove out there from Arizona to meet for a Saturday evening. I actually made it there without issues because Tucson isn’t too far from El Paso, unlike last weekend’s tragic miss in Orlando.

Yeah I've only had A4A up for like, a few days now and I'm about ready to just take it down haha. It's only $30 so I don't feel like it was that big of a waste to at least try it out.

I've gotten a lot of messages on it since I just put the ad up, they sorta fit into a few different categories, but overall the attitude from the people messaging me has just been extremely negative and rude compared to any other site I've used, and it really isn't worth it to me to bother with that at all lol. It's not that I can't take it, I just don't want to deal with it.

I would say more but like idk, anything else I can think of to add about my short experience with A4A could really be taken the wrong way so I'll just leave it at that haha.

Like I said, city dependent is what you’ll find a4a.

You say you’re from Michigan, I’ll just let you in on a lil secret: rust belt cities are going to present their own challenges in the scheme of things. If your area lies within that area, you may notice what those “challenges” are.

A few evenings ago, I was contacted on A4A by a guy I had hooked up with on gay.com about 15 years ago and dated for a while. He's been living and working in Europe and recently moved back to the USA to stay. Until the other evening, I had not been on A4A for nearly a year. It was just by chance that he came across my profile and now we have reconnected.

At this point in time, any site that allows adult ads should be considered until this mess gets sorted. If anything, it'll be the new missed connections now that the CL is out.

I just noticed how large that map is, on a laptop versus on my phone.

I agree that A4A is a great resource and I have hired numerous times off it. I have had some great hires and a few duds. One dud was a total fake who came in, demanded the money, threatened me, and left. But I have also had some total knockouts at bargain basement prices. With some discretion, due diligence, and prudence, you can find someone who will be a dream come true. BUT.... don't limit yourself to those who are "pros." A lot of guys on A4A in the general listings are also market - just watch for key words.
