Always interesting responses on here...so, anyone have a suggestion for simple meditation techniques? A link or book title'd be helpful.

My Indian GP says meditation and deep breathing helps with anxiety. I asked my crunchy granola psychologist friends and they suggested a few names that sounded way more involved than I'm likely to carry through on.

The Teaching Company ("The Great Courses") has several courses on Meditation/Mindfulness. I bought the DVD version of "The Science of Mindfulness: A Research-Based Path to Well-Being." You can purchase the courses in various formats (e.g. DVD, Video download, etc.).. Get on their mailing list and you will quickly find that they go on sale about 3 x a week with about 70% off the list price - and often with free shipping. For a preview of a couple of courses on Meditation/Mindfulness:

You can also pay a yearly fee and watch most all of their courses online - which I have done - I usually watch them while I'm walking my three miles per day.

Of course, if you wanna save a lot of money, you can always count on a YouTube "search" for free info. For instance:

There are all sorts of organizations that teach it. Buddhist meditation is basically mindfulness meditation. I first learned it in the 70s at the Naropa Institute in Boulder. All Zen Centers have meditation instructors. I have seen instructors at the Rochester Zen Center, the San Francisco Zen Center and the Hartford Street Zen Center.
