There is a thread of an escort in Las Vegas I have posted about. He has an ad on rentmen and pays for it. I came across rentboy.pro yesterday so looked up my area. The escort was on there. Hmmm...cool. but... Some of his information was not accurate. I text the escort and said "what's up with that"? He text me back he never ever heard of the site. I said that seemed funny because the pics and phone number were correct so someone was paying for an to drive business to him. The escort immediately emailed rentboy support (text me the email). He told him that he was the real escort and to take down the ad... assuming someone placed it. He got a reply back within 30 minutes. Rentboy pro first corrected the inaccurate info from the rentboy site they stole the info from rentmen and then said they create ads of hot guys from other sites for free and why should he want the ad down since he isn't paying for it (text me that email as well). Highly deceptive business to put an ad up without consent of the escort. Almost illegal. Very very deceptive practice!

Look, I'm eager to see any new site succeed. I have to admit I'm put off by the co-opting of the rentboy name, but that did get you guys noticed. Unfortunately, I think you got that notice a bit before you were ready for prime time. And I wonder if these subsequent missteps seem to be taking away from the needed task of fine tuning the site. And I maintain that the judgement calls leave me leery.

How do they change their information? Escorts need to be free to control their online information, where they advertise, what they advertise, and it needs to be at their initiative. You can only help them if they ask you for help.

This. Posting ads without the escorts' consent doesn't just show lack of judgment. It shows that the site is willing to put its own growth ahead of industry members' autonomy and control over their information online.

 

Frankly, that should scare providers and clients alike. I too want you guys to succeed, but defending this practice when the problems with it are respectfully brought up seems hard to get past.

Rentmen had been doing the same for years. From the year of 2003 till the year of 2015 (The collapse of Rentboy.com). It’s just part of the business. You guys didn’t blame them so much only because they have been always kept distance between you and them. We tried to do the opposite and to put ourselves not above you, but near or even lower. Finally we have received much more blaming than anyone.

It shouldn’t be a problem at all. Escorts we decided to create profiles for received the keys for the profiles. We received “thanks” in return. The real problem in this particular case discussed here was our mistake about the escort’s age. That’s why he decided to revenge here:) We are sorry about that age mistake

Yeah, this is a good attempt, but unless they get a reply from that escort, they don't know the escort knows. What if it goes into their spam folder? What if it's an old email address? This is why, when you sign up for almost any web site these days -- even discussion forums -- you have to actually click a link in an email they send you to confirm that you got the email. Sending an email to an address you find on another web site doesn't mean anything in and of itself.
