. Escorts we decided to create profiles for received the keys for the profiles. We received “thanks” in return.

Does this mean that you do not make those profiles publicly available until you receive an affirmative response from the provider in question?

If not, you don't know that they all "received the keys" -- and in all likelihood, given the reality of email today, many did not.

Yeah, this is a good attempt, but unless they get a reply from that escort, they don't know the escort knows. What if it goes into their spam folder? What if it's an old email address? This is why, when you sign up for almost any web site these days -- even discussion forums -- you have to actually click a link in an email they send you to confirm that you got the email. Sending an email to an address you find on another web site doesn't mean anything in and of itself.

Excuse us, but we send this info in SMS

Very good idea. Thank you, we will take it. Especially while the amount of the profiles created by us is really small.

Rentmen had been doing the same for years. From the year of 2003 till the year of 2015 (The collapse of Rentboy.com). It’s just part of the business. You guys didn’t blame them so much only because they have been always kept distance between you and them. We tried to do the opposite and to put ourselves not above you, but near or even lower. Finally we have received much more blaming than anyone.

It shouldn’t be a problem at all. Escorts we decided to create profiles for received the keys for the profiles. We received “thanks” in return. The real problem in this particular case discussed here was our mistake about the escort’s age. That’s why he decided to revenge here:) We are sorry about that age mistake

The only other site that I'm aware of doing this is Apollon21, a quintessential scam site and not one to emulate.

So one of the ads had bad info, and was live for some period of time without the escort knowing about it. How many others are there, then? Yet another reason why this is a bad idea and another instance that calls the site's judgement into question.

The escort knows because rentboy sends them an email with an user name and password. With the user name and password they can edit the ad.

In order to just load the site, one has to agree to the site's term and conditions, so this is not the correct answer. In this thread, people from the site admit to not immediately deleting a profile after the subject of the profile contacted them. This is just plain wrong

Given how much consent is critical, this strategy is just wrong, the guys have never even been given an opportunity to grant their consent to the implied endorsement having a profile on the site carries with it.

Let me also say, Whataboutism is a bad response, you shouldn't trust anyone who deploys it.

@Boomxyz you need an explicit response “yes, that is ok” from the escort before you put the add up. If you have that, then I have no issues. If you don’t, that is just stealing copyrighted data and putting the escort at risk of exposing something that, at some point in the future, they don’t want to expose.

Absolutely EVERY escort site creates profiles for some escorts. If you really believe, that Rentmen didn’t do that for their main site and doesn’t do it now for their new sites you are very much mistaken.

I do not argue that. I understand a big deal in RB.PRO vision is breaking with old questionable practices. You cannot say you are bringing a new culture on one hand and on the other continue with old practices. For all the reasons you can read above, it is clearly a wrong policy. If you are consequent with your vision, the fact that every other website did it before should not be a reason to do it.

We agree and received good feed back from several guys we created profiles for. Unfortunately by mistake we put wrong age in one ad and made one person mad

No matter what we do or don’t do some particular people will keep blaming:( Even when we did exactly how did they want us to do they kept blaming. So probably we have put ourselves into the wrong position from the very beginning

No, you are responsible for your own actions, and they are reprehensible.

The hilarious thing is an older forum thread is already the #1 off-site hit if you search for rentboy.pro, but I expect this thread will rise up the results in time. #streisandeffect

The self-delusional thinking on display (if you even take it at face value) is staggering. Shades of leafyhost...

Agreed. Probably too much of blaming for the idea of a free intensively growing site for everyone:) If for doing the same things Rentmen is good for some of you and we are bad, no problem, just stay with them. And keep having ignorance as an answer if you will not like something about their company;)

You keep repeating the same ridiculous deflections.

The thing is -- the people reading this thread will make up their own mind based on what they see here.

All you are doing is missing an opportunity to course correct. Instead you keep digging a hole by defending your choice to implement an egregious practice, and blaming the people advocating for providers' autonomy for disparaging your name.

*shakes head sadly*

Dude, your own site admits it won't be free forever. And that is only in the context of having a profile on the site.

Let me pull out the important part "Join us for FREE! Limited time offer" (emphasis mine).

In the meantime, you are building the value of the site using the assets of people who may have no idea this is happening. This is wrong.

C'mon, do not fall in the victim game. We all who are willing to have a high exposure out here, we know we will have to deal with criticism of all kinds. If you do not have a thick skin this is not your game.

This is what I would say to you and to @SecretShopper .

Changing is hard, and the deeper the habits are rooted the harder is to change them. I know that out of experience. As a classroom teacher I am continuously questioning my practice and failing. The feedback I obtain from colleagues and supervisors' observations is priceless. They can see obvious ineffective habits I am completely oblivious of because they are deeply rooted in my subconscious. I am not going to get into details, but my issue is that I am a control freak. When they give me feedback I often get defensive because they are questioning habits that protect my need to be in control.

You guys are coming from working for some time in the industry, with the intention of breaking with old questionable habits. You want to bring a new respect to professionals and to renters. But you are coming from working in the same companies you are trying to break from. You are aware of questionable practices you want to finish, but you have old habits that you may see as acceptable and natural, because you do not realize that you are contradicting your own motivation.

The practice we are questioning is clearly disrespecting professionals and clients. I understand you do not want to accept it and you get defensive. It is often my own reaction when I have to deal with criticism. But I always finally accept I was wrong when I am proven wrong.

Re read this thread, cool down, and let it settle down. Hopefully, you will see you are wrong. I really hope so.

I can attest that I am not the escort in question and an email requesting you take down an ad that was not initiated by the escort is not revenge. You still have not taken down the ad that you said you would. Rentboy and rentmen are very similar in name. When I first questioned the escort his reply was that he had 2 down days on rentmen and paid them to re-up his ad. I said "no not rentmen...rentboy". He then said he never heard of the site till I brought it up. So a thank you could just be thinking it is one site one IS doing business with and not the other. Very bad and unethical business practice to copy and paste information from one site and use it on your own. If the escort in question has not replied to keep the ad up THEN TAKE IT DOWN AS REQUESTED! I am sure if he wants to do business with you in the future he will!

Again it looks like some of you guys never hear us and the only thing you want is to blame. We told on the forum how things have changed in our crew and in our vision. We explained the transformation of the model, but looks like it’s the same if we do explain you or if we don’t
