Aside from the dangers of steroid abuse, let's not forget that meth continues to disable the gay community. It's a fucking nightmare of a drug.

Yeah, but it's one hell of a lot of fun. To compare. Coke which is very powerful releases 350 units of Dopamine. Sex causes a 100-250 release. Meth releases 1500 and it doesn't get reabsorbed like the others so you can enjoy it for a good 48 hours of constant bliss. Extreme energy, confidence, you lose weight so hello abs, and of coarse the well known sex effects which are other worldly.

I stopped doing it when the bad times started to outweigh the good times. Hell by the end it was a little fun at night followed up by mount Everest mother of recovery. Not to mention what it does to the rest of your life. Age and/or time will fix it eventually.

It is a nightmare of coarse. However, it does put me in awe of just how powerful it is. It's the perfect drug for many gay men and that's probably why will never see the end of it.

I'm just wondering how you think the steroids contributed to his current episode. What are the consequences "as we all know" and how does that relate to his meth addiction?

Steroids by themselves, used in moderation, are not a bad thing. The problem with steroids, is that someone who has an addictive personality, Ken's to overuse steroids. Which causes health issues. I have used steroids, and felt pretty damn good when I was using them. But I have an addiction issue. So I started over doing them. The only correlation between steroids and any other kind of addictive drugs. Is the fact that you will over use them. Now I am not an expert on this, but I would think that meth would Trump steroids. In other words if you get addicted to meth, you're going to want to do meth more than you're going to want to work out and do steroids. And we are all speculating, that Matthew Rush has a meth addiction. He may not. He may be just like a lot of us, he tried it he partying and then he quit. And as far as steroids, we all reach a point, or we say f*** the gym.

Mine got wiped out at 55 years old not fun trying again

Understand. When in my early 50's, my company declared bankruptcy, and the pension plan was terminated. My anticipated pension - cut in half. Too young to retire, but too old to make enough money at the same job to save/invest to make up the lost monthly income.

It's the perfect drug for many gay men

That is certainly unfortunate. I've endured my share of altered realities in my stupid youth, and I've lost quite a few loved ones to hard core addiction. My younger brother shot himself in the head to end his misery. In my honest, most sincere opinion, the perfect high for this gay man is a drug-free, full-on healthy, natural life. If I'm in pain, I want to feel the pain and work my way through it. This gay man can't be around drugs users and addicts anymore. If for any reason you have a desire to be in an altered state, we can't be friends.

Sorry for your loss. Addiction is cruel.

Given the earlier muscle physique in the video, pretty clearly steroid pumped, his addiction predates whatever meth issue brought him down. Steroid addiction is self-destructive, just like any drug abuse. It is very hard to shake both in its own right and when one is constantly praised for the beauty of the body it makes possible. Enablers are legion.

I saw the cast of "Another Gay Movie" read the script at a Philadelphia Film Festival. Felt sorry for Matthew because he seemed lost working with professional actors.

I applaud your honesty. I understand more than you know. As you are aware. the rate of recovery is dismally low, so in many respects you are at war, and it is a daily fight. Kudos to you...

These pornstar tragedy threads always wind up being about the posters rather than the guys. The sad thing to me is that Matt is 45 years old and probably no closer to a stable trade or occupation than the average 20 year old. that's the drawback of making a buck off your looks.

I'm having a challenge getting my head around the fact Matthew Rush is 45 years old. WOW!

I met this man a few years ago and it really makes me sad to see and hear of his situation today. He was a very personable man and most pleasant to be with. He had a body I loved to see and would have loved to be in bed with him but his personality was the most outstanding part of him. It is most difficult to see a picture of him today and learn of his condition.

Didn't MaI atthew live in south Louisiana for a while? I had heard he was happy there and have a regular job after the porn shows were over.

Like me, he also did stripping in clubs. There's a big temptation to do drugs because the guys in the clubs over you drugs because they think it is part of the stripper lifestyle. For some yes, for the guys just wanting to make extra money to live on (or compete in bodybuilding), the drug lifestyle was avoided.

Does anyone have any recent info on Matthew Rush/Greg Grove. I was so sad when I saw this posting last year. He did live in New Orleans with his (personal trainer) boyfriend. I spotted him a number of times - at clubs, or just riding his bike around town - quite a sight. He still looked amazing as well as happy. Was so sweet with his fans. I did see him "a mess" one night, but that was the only exception.

My godson, who was an "in demand" escort some years ago, is now forty-something and supports himself as a delivery man in a florist shop; though a distant memory, that he once cleared $50,000 and was made a gift of an expensive sports car in one winter season at Ft. Lauderdale is his often recounted claim to fame in life.

Was this possibly Alfredo, a young Cuban guy that danced at the Boardwalk?
