During recent business trip to Chicago, I was really interested in spending time with Parker Allen.

https://rent.men/ParkerAllen

Received prompt response and availability to set up an evening meeting, but I noticed several of the text replies contained an interchange of "we" and "I" which I found odd. Also, "they" or "he" asked for a 10% deposit. This was the first time I've been asked to make a deposit. So I politely declined. Text reply was that he would still keep option open but needed a deposit before meeting. I let it go. Later on (after I arrived in Chicago after several flight delays) I received another text asking if there was still interest to hold time. I replied no and perhaps another time, as I already said I'm not making a deposit. I received what seemed to be an irate text back - "this is exactly why I require deposits because men cancel". What? I never agreed to a deposit so didn't expect him to hold any time.

Unfortunate exchange, but perhaps just miscommunication. I still am attracted to his profile, and would love to meet him. Has anyone else had experiences with deposits, and are there any guidelines to know what seems legitimate vs scam?

From reading his profile....well it does not inspire confidence in his business acumen. Though 10% seems like a small amount of money to risk if you were really interested in seeing the fellow.

Perhaps someone should set up an escrow company catering towards this situation; put the deposit into an escrow account, it get released when the meeting happens.

It has got to be frustrating as an escort to have guys constantly flake out and cancel, though....but I would think it would be possible to present yourself so you get a higher caliber of client.

Cancellations are a shitty part of the service industry. That said, you never made an appointment so there was no cancellation. He was right to tell you up front about his 10% deposit requirement. You politely declined and that should have been the end of it.

Until the industry moves toward a "deposit required" culture, I would be hard pressed to ever give one - especially since I have had escorts cancel on me because they got a better offer elsewhere.

This is probably never going to happen. Especially for the short duration meetings.

You'd have to meet to arrange a deposit, or there are methods for credit card payments, but they have other issues, such as merchant fees, chargebacks, and lack of complete discretion.

A prostitute wanting a deposit, hilarious!

Just like dealing with a contractor, it is always the over promise, and under performance.

My roofer was quoting me a price.

"how much deposit?" I asked.

"None. You pay me when I'm done. "

"Really?"

"Yeah. It's great incentive for me to finish the job."

His incall fee is a modest $22O. Is a $22 deposit really worth the reputational risk to him? Because he looks sorta cute and his overall fee is so low, it may be worth the risk. Think of the cost of your overall experience, not the short term $22.

The only time I have given a deposit was when I requested certain items such as the escort wearing a specific brand of underwear, which he didn't have. I have requested that a 'twink' escort wear Wolford pantyhose, which I prepaid. But I do that only with escorts that I have an established business relationship with, not with newbies.

Clients also have cancels though. I've had two escorts cancel meetings on me in the past month but I would never think of asking an escort for a deposit telling him I'd give it back with the fee if he shows up:) My time is just as valuable as their

Right, but if the escort cancels you're not out any money. Bottom line this is a business about money, not time.

If a escort wants a deposit I cease all comminications

I think it makes sense for an escort to ask for a deposit when it comes to an overnight and specially a trip NOT in other circumstances.

It was meant as tongue in cheek. However I have had two escorts cancel on me recently and my time is valuable as well. Clients hold time slots open for escorts and I try to arrange meets a couple days in advance when traveling so I can arrange my schedule with clientsand and personal plans appropriately

I'm in D.C. This weekend and has an escort cancel last minute and if he wouldn't have scheduled I'd be dining with a friend right now. I told my friend I had other plans and couldn't do dinner tonight only to have he escort no show and had to text him asking where he was to be given a lame assexcuse simehing cane up

I lived next door to a little dancer guy in Hell's Kitch who paid his rent JUST by running ads in national periodicals and taking small deposits via W.U with NO intent of ever seeing a client. He ONLY accepted visiting out-of-towners staying in Hotels who believed this was the norm in the big city and also were less likely to follow up even thou they had his legal name and phone #. Did this the entire 2 years I knew him. This was back in the old answering machine days told me the only price he paid was his machine filled with messages n complaints when he wouldn't show so he always kept the sound off. *once I saw him with a black eye didn't ask how it hap'd but ALWAYS wondered if some client tracked him down n caught up with him lol.

That's a very unusual case of scam.

I don't know how he looked or if he used his pictures or I guess other guys' pics for his endeavor but as an escort he could have made a lot more money. Possibly he didn't have the looks nor the stomach to earn his money in a decent way.

Hey gentlemen, I'm very gracious to all of my clients, and potential clients, for that matter. I appreciate the time and commiserate with travelers woes of flight delays and the frustrations that come with. To begin: my reasons for posting this reply are purely to clear up misconceptions and give just a small but of insight into my reasoning...NOT to be a cunt and fire back because something semi negative was asked/said about me. I have integrity. I realize that this is a somewhat rare virtue to posess in this field, but my word is as good as I. The reason I have the 10% deposit for future bookings is to deter the unfavorable clientel. I see the $22 as a meager amount that immediately repels the guys who want to call me and jerk off when they are asking me questions or set up a time a week in advance and then cancel the day of after I've extended or postponed a trip for that session exclusively. I chose 10% because the type of clientele I (and I'm sure 99% of ALL escorts) would like to book do not sweat $20 in the grand scheme of things. I hope that this has given some validity to my policy.

As far as the scam artist in HK- I'd like to think that my 20+ five star reviews would be enough of a testament to my quality and reputation.

As for the "irate" message: I truly despise textual conversations for the primary reason of the inability to convey subtext and intent. I'm sorry that I came off that way.

Thank you for alllowing me to post on this matter and i hope this may have cleared the air.

And what did the "proudly works forbTreasure Island" reply mean? LoL not following that (dig?)

Have a good night gents!

Welcome to the forum, Parker. A calm explanation of the other side of threads like this one is always appreciated, and leaves us with a positive impression of you. There will still be those who disagree with your deposit policy, but you wouldn't be the first escort here to have an unpopular policy about clients and to win acceptance of their views (not universal acceptance, I hasten to add).

Thanks for chiming in Parker.

Can I suggest that you put in your ad that a 10 percent deposit is required upon booking? Not only will it avoid wasting time on clients like me who refuse to pay a deposit and allow them to skip to the next ad, but will also save you time from answering ads from clients who refuse to pay a deposit or may be flaky and have no intention of meeting from contacting you
