I watched "Maurice" yesterday for the first time - it's on youtube for free.  It was like watching my own life story and falling in love with my closest friend at age 19

When Video Rental Stores were really getting popular, employees often received a few shelves to display their favorites and recommendations for a month.  When I was 10, 11, or 12, I remember frequently walking by the shelf, presumably assembled by one of the few openly, or at least somewhat openly, gay men in North Dakota around 1983, displaying this movie.  I didn't know exactly what was going on, but innately I could sense that if I rented it my life would change.  I did not.  Too scared

That’s understandable, Rod. I saw it for the first time a while ago. It was a VHS copy I obtained from the public library, an interlibrary loan. I’m not sure where I got my nerve. I’ve always liked it and also that provocative cover.

I watched Bonus Track (2023) on Kanopy.  Directed by Julia Jackman.  She most recently directed 100 Nights a Hero with Nicholas Galatzine.  I know some of you will be interested to see him again.  😉  I will look for it.

Bonus Track is a sweet, mostly tame story.   Well done, about a quiet young man in his final year of school.  He dreams of being a pop star.  A surprise cameo by Josh O'Connor.

I think that this movie is currently only premiering in film festivals but it's quite good (and great eye candy)...

Finally got around to watching 100 Nights of Hero (so you don't have to}.  Nicholas Galitzine looks nice but not nice enough to overcome the rest.  I agree with one review that called it a feminist fairytale with a plot that's a bit shallow.  The film didn't leave much room for what I was hoping for, worshipping N.G.   😉    The story was a chore for me to follow. 

The "bad guy" is suggested might be gay.  The two lead women share tender romantic moments.
