It was a typical French car: my partner was driving it to New York one day when the entire manual transmission gear shift disconnected and came off in his hand.

I knew a couple from GB who had a Renault. They could use the headlights or the AC, just not at the same time. I still chuckle thinking about that.

First car a BMW mini-you'd have to be a contortionist to have sex in that! That happened across the bench seat in a battered van down a country lane & the van wasn't the only thing that was battered!

To be fair to Renault few cars were particularly reliable in those days. The cars they make these days are fine.

The same can said of Jaguar. Their unpredictability was part of the charm of driving the older versions of those marques.

That looks like my dad's oldie. I remember my brother and I would get in sometimes and (NON-sexual) play/freak ourselves out—-by the time we came around, our dad wasn't driving it anymore and it was out of commission, mostly collecting dust and spiders. We would get in and see how long we could stay inside before we spotted a spider and then clamber out screaming.

Good times…

Good to hear. When Renault was partnered up with AMC I owned a Renault for six weeks and drove it for a few days of that, had it towed to the dealership several times, and they eventually bought it back under the newly enacted lemon laws.

Not anxious to try again.

They're partnered with Nissan these days, so a lot of US market Nissans are on Renault platforms, and use Renault parts. Mercedes use some of their engines too. Very much a different company. :)

First car was a 1975 Plymouth station wagon that required three driver's tests before I could get my license. I screwed up with parallel parking every time.

Good grief! I have had such limited experience in sex as it is. Haven't involved cars yet!

I guess the one positive is in all of this is that, if the receiver of any oral stimulation is driving on the road, there is a little less danger than texting on your phone or not wearing a seat belt. Some drivers are masters at staying focused on the road regardless of what happens down below.

My first Renault was a 1969 Renault 10 ($1725 new), and it was a great car; unfortunately, something landed on the roof and caved it in. I had two Renault 12s, and both not only broke down in various ways, but usually in inconvenient places. I was once stuck in Ohio for three days waiting for a replacement part to arrive. When I switched to Toyotas in 1975, I couldn't believe the improvement in reliability.
