I realize it's probably not the best venue to search for guys, but my experiences off backpage used to be ok until recently. Google reverse image search is a godsend. Almost 80% of the ads use fake pics - which regardless what they look like, I leave, but now I've even had some get verbally abusive on email or text. Is there anything to do to?

sorry if I misunderstand, but you went ahead and contacted ads that had what you proved were fake pictures?.....what makes them get verbally abusive?....

"is there anything to do?".....well, ignore the fakes and keep looking for the elusive "ok" ones????.....

I don't get the point of pointing fake photos, especially on BP. If the person turns out to be a catfish, you can just leave (sadly both parties time got wasted).

I'm actually in a scenario right now where I have 2 candidates (both from

BP) for my second ever escort experience.

- Guy #1 is a super ripped hulk, with a very good and reasonable rate. My only "concern" is I'm shocked this very good looking guy doesn't have a RM profile.

- Guy #2 is a hot muscular toned guy. His rate is higher, and wants to be paid upfront. His RM profile is long expired but a handful of guys have verified he's real.

I'm really leaning towards Guy #1. If for some reason it's a catfish, best believe I'm kicking him out.

What is the advantage of using BP versus RM?

Just price..?

Price is one advantage, yes. Escorts are often less expensive on BP and CL. But also variety. There are men on those sites who just won't advertise on RM. I've met some great guys I would never have found on RM.

I just met a college guy from Craigslist yesterday. I found him from a posting I had made "older for..." and he replied. Subsequently I found out he also posted on CL as a companion.

Did my due diligence, searched phone, pics, voice call, meet in lobby, etc. we had a GREAT time.

One thing he discussed that I knew but hadn't thought about recently - some guys prefer to post in CL/BP because like this college guy, they don't want to be in "the business" full time. When they have time (and lean wallets?) they post. This guy didnt want the full time advertising, answering emails, etc.

So for the Craigslist and Backpage doubters AND fans, this is one reason why there can be a live one out there in the chaff. It's takes work and patience to find them

ALERT !! ALERT !!

DON'T DO IT....

I have been there in the same circumstances and got burned.

If they won't meet you in a public place first, that is likely because they are not same as the photo.

If they want the money up front, that is a huge red flag. Once they have the cash in hand they have no motivation to go thru with the deal. They start to run off, you going to wrestle them down and take your money back??

Bottom line is that YOU need to be the person who sets the deal up and THEY need to conform to your rules, if not=pass them by and save your hard earned cash for a sure deal under your terms.

That has been my experience too.

This makes sense. Good point.

I recommend meeting first in a public place. If he's a scammer (or worse), it's much easier to walk away than kick him out.

I'm not big on meeting in public places first, but I may have to start doing this when I'm unsure about someone.

Man, talk about frustration. I've passed on two major hotties in my area because they demanded money up front. No way in hell I'm loosing my hard earned money, hurt a little to pass especially since I'm so eager for my second escort encounter but whatever.

I only host/hire for outcalls, so in my place it'll be hard to just get up and leave the way I have things set up.

You're thinking with your "big head", vs the little one that leads us astray. This is a good thing, keep using the big head.

I've been hiring for almost a year and in that time I've had 3 positive Backpage experiences for NJ/Philly but more flakes than I care to discuss including a thief that stole $400 from me...so I had to stop using it

RentMen though sometimes frustrating has never sent a fake or fraud so I trust it more than BP

I mostly host at my house so I meet in public and chat before bringing anyone back to the house

I agree that the odds of getting a fake or fraud are lower with RM and even lower if you find good comments here. That said there are escorts reviewed on Daddy's that have been unpleasant experiences for me. (Be wary of a single reviews on Daddys just as you would on RM.) That was before I was active on this forum though so the feedback here has lead me to some wonderful encounters. :)

Thanks everyone, and to clarify, if I can verify the pic is fake I move on, but the whole idea irks me. The assholes have been ones where due lack of information or suspicion I ask questions that must annoy them. While I consider it a dodged bullet, there is no need to be mean.

Oh, and I never pay upfront.
