The problem with traveling escorts in general and with New York City in particular is the economics. The high costs of hotel, transport and meals need to be covered before a profit can be made.

 

These costs can be recovered only by raising the hourly rates or squeezing in multiple clients in a tight schedule or a combination of both methods. Competition keeps pressure on keeping rates low (along with personal budgets) so seeing more clients in a day is the realistic way to make a trip pay.

 

In Jon's case, after dancing for a couple of years at the beloved Gaiety and seeing five or six guys a day (his schedule was always booked solid) he had enough regulars he could do better on his own: he could see the five or six guys and not have to run back to the theater to do the shows!
