Not sure if this is really an ask an escort or if this should go in the lounge....I know this has been discussed before but instead of reviving an old thread that has been hijacked 6 ways from Sunday, but this is the one thing I always feel awkward about after the fact. I question myself as to did I tip enough? Did I over tip? When an escort's rate is 250 or 300 bucks an hour adding another 10/15/20% is a lot of money. I don't tip unless the guy knocked my socks off but I met with a great pro recently and after I got home, I felt like I didn't give him enough of a tip.....what do others think regarding giving a tip for a massage or escort session? Do you base it on the hourly rate? A flat amount for each hour?

I am conservative when it comes to tipping. These guys are self employed. All the money you give them goes to them. If I believe they are charging market rates, $250 to $350 I do not tip unless they are truly exceptional or unless they have traveled a long way for the appointment and are only charging for the time spent with me. If I feel they are undercharging, I will tip the difference to what I think market rates are. Oh, buy the way, I do not haggle prices. If I think the "Rentboy" is overcharging I thank him for the information, if it is ask me, and move on.

I am with you about the haggling, I feel like it is demeaning to the pro. Their rate is their rate. If its too much for me I move on

I prefer to tip.

Which does inform the base rates that I will consider.

And which might, at least in part, explain my fondness for gents who offer a multi-hour rate. (The tip often balances the discount, while also allowing me feel generous. Best of both!)

I totally agree. If the rate is reasonable and I enjoyed myself, I tip generously. If the rate is really high, then I figure the asking price should adequately cover the experience. So, it balances out to basically the same thing in the end both for me and for the escort.

I only tip guys who work through an agency or offer a rate below $250 for the hour. The agency guys have to share a portion of the rate with the agency.

However, that said, I will usually cover parking or taxi fare for guys in major markets. In LA for example, I will find out the valet charge and tell the guy to use it and then give him the cash to cover it. Same with taxi or uber in New York or DC.

I think it has been said here before that in an unregulated industry like this one, there are no hard & fast rules or practices. I do believe everyone is entitled to tip according to their own logic & taste; I like that freedom of choice. In my case, I see this hobby as a luxury, so I go all out every time I meet a guy...including tip. The better the experience we create & sustain together, the bigger the tip.

Ditto.

Or if I feel the person really went above and beyond. Like one time in New Orleans (coincidentally just 3 days before Katrina) I had a guy to my hotel for the evening, for which he asked $500. We really clicked, he stayed far longer than we had agreed. So I had him back the next night for $500, he showed up with a large bag of weed (not unannounced; he had asked beforehand if I liked) and generously shared thereof, again stayed way beyond the agreed time, alternating play with talk with more play etc. At the end of that second night I slipped another couple of hundred into the envelope. Which both nights he trustingly left without counting in front of me. Called from his car to thank me warmly for the tip.

Instinct, emotion and karma seem like the best guidelines for tipping.

if it is a good experience, I tend to tip 20% for a massage or escort session; I think the masseur or escort is in the service industry, just like the lady who cuts my hair or the waiter who waits on my table; and besides, I want to be known as a generous person--I think it leads to extraordinary service if they know you are not a skinflint!

I have been hiring for more than 25 years now, and I have never, never tipped. Sometimes I have felt like doing it with one of my regulars, but I have refrained, thinking that if I do it once, the escort would expect me to do it every time. It is very much like a de facto rate raise to me.

I give them all the time. How to douche correctly, how to bottom better, how to prepare one self for a night of ass training...people appreciate tips, it lets them know you care ;)

I'm sure those tips are always appreciated, Killian! As you said, gives the impression that you care. Lol, I know you actually do care.

wow 20% of 300 bucks is 60 bucks, if you do a 2 hour session your are at 120 bucks in a tip.

I have done what RyanDean says, I will make up the difference if there is a multi hour rate.

While I hire frequently I seldom leave a cash tip. I often though will leave a $20 Starbucks gift card along with the stipulated fee as a gesture of goodwill. My regulars seem to appreciate this small token as it allows them the flexibility to have morning coffee at a nearby Starbucks or at an airport Starbucks. I also once gave a guy a Dallas t-shirt thereby putting an end to the Dallas Mafia urban myth. He was appreciative and concluded it was really nothing more than a myth.

Good thoughts for Nice, France.

I rarely tip established providers, except perhaps when I'm on a trip. I like to buy him a gift of his choice while we are out and about. I frequently tip under-priced newbies who demonstrate exceptional skills.

That's the spirit, fostering and encouraging new talents. They are very thankful, appreciative, and DEMONSTRATIVE.
