Thanks QTR. Wonderful memories came rushing back. Jefferson Airplane "Somebody to Love" and I could add the Doors "LA Woman" and "Light My Fire"

This is not the first time I've mentioned this, but I was privileged to see the Doors in concert (my first rock concert! my dad took me) in the summer of 1968 just before they toured Europe with the Jefferson Airplane. They alternated who was the opening act and who the headliner. One night during the tour, Grace Slick slept with Jim Morrison. She tells the story in the chapter in her autobiography titled "Strawberry Fuck." He must have been drunk off his gourd, because as she recounts it he was barely articulate. (Interestingly, she had her own problems with alcohol.)

My dad said he liked the music. I always wondered if he paid any attention to the words, especially "The End."

Sorry; remembered one more. In this case, I went to a Eurythmics concert and left a Howard Jones fan. Not that I didn't like the Eurythmics anymore, but they were less...dynamic than Mr. Jones, who at that time produced all the music himself and was only joined by mime Jed Hoile.

Also, the lyrics to the song may be relevant to questions that frequently arise here.

The Police and Sting... "Every Breath You Take"

And I'll be watching you... ;)

Are you stalking us??

LOL! Not quite, but stalking you big guys would be fun, but is something that I would never do!

Actually to get serious for half a second, the first escort that I hired many eons ago had a problem with a stalker. So much so that he had to take legal action. I guess when you guys are sizzling hot that's something that goes with the territory.

Now back on track!!!

When I was in college a good friend was constantly playing Rod Stewart's "Every Picture Tells a Story" Album. This was probably the song the hooked me...

However, this was the song that confirmed things.

I blew my dad's hifi speakers out playing "Light My Fire" on the Doors 13 album.

As polar as these two artists are....

"The skinny one in the middle" caught my eye when I first saw her on "The Ed Sullivan Show" and ALL BETS were off! (Still a HUGE fan today).

Then that boy from Sayerville N.J. caught my ears (AND EYES!!!)..

(I hope the links work!).

My band choice is not a classic, so it will pale in comparison to the aforementioned by our esteemed & knowledgeable forum colleagues. My choice is sentimental. July 2005 was probably the worst month & year of my life... I had just lost the love of my life & I felt like the world was against me. Driving home from his funeral, I blasted Paramore's Conspiracy from their album All We Know is Falling. this band has had me as a fan ever since. If you like the lyrics below, check out this link for an acoustic version played in Chitown (skip annoying ad).

"Conspiracy"

Please speak softly, for they will hear us

And they'll find out why we don't trust them

Speak up dear, 'cause I cannot hear you

I need to know why we don't trust them

Explain to me this conspiracy against me

And tell me how I've lost my power

Where can I turn? 'Cause I need something more

Surrounded by uncertainty, I'm so unsure

Tell me why I feel so alone

'Cause I need to know to whom do I owe

Explain to me this conspiracy against me

And tell me how I've lost my power

I thought that we'd make it

Because you said that we'd make it through

And when all security fails

Will you be there to help me through?

Explain to me this conspiracy against me

And tell me how I've lost my power

How?

How I've lost my power?

Cindy Birdsong in the middle, and Florence Ballard on the left. Guess Detroit left a bigger impression on me than I thought.
