I'm a new escort-aspirant. I've been reading threads in the forum during the last week, thank you for all the knowledge and experience you have shared, a big part of my leap has been a result of all the information here.

 

I already created a Rentmen profile and have had 5 clients contacting me so far but I'm struggling with a couple of things:

 

1-Face pic. I still don't know if I'm going to get fully into escorting and don't want to be linked to it a least for now. Clients are consistently asking for a face picture, is it safe for me to give it?

 

2-How do you check the clients? Do you do a search with their phone number? Do you pay for any premium service to get information?

 

This probably will be the first of a few "asking for advice" posts. I'm thanking you in advance for your help now and in the near future.

Yes you can reverse your cleints email thru a service but that is not 100% if concerned ask them to met you in public

You might want to check your price point with other escorts in LA.

Hiring or asking for a meeting with another LA escort might help answer a lot of questions.

Next weekend there is a forum meeting in Palm Springs. You might contact Oliver and see if there is space (there almost certainly is) and that would give you the opportunity to meet clients and other escorts.

If you are not sure whether you will continue escorting or if you are not sure whether you are okay about everyone knowing you are an escort, for absolutely no reason should you give away your face picture. TO ANYONE. IN ANY FORM. FROM ANY EMAIL.

 

Clients are lovely, honest, reliable, discreet... the whole nine yards. Wonderful people!

 

They are great people and they will all tell you that they would never EVER share your personal picture, name, personal information to others, yet, without having solicited it, I have had sent pictures of many escorts who have chosen not to post their faces, I have been told their real names, their marital status, the true names of their partners and children. I have been shown videos of escorts whose lives would be destroyed by them.

 

Let's imagine these kind, honest, discreet clients who happened to believe it was okay to share this information with me, 'cause I too, I'm a ho, are truly only sharing this info with other escorts.

 

Safe enough, isn't it?

 

But what will happen when uncle bill dies and his family finds all these videos, names, informations, pictures of you as an escort? Now you are a lawyer or a politician or an elementary school teacher and this information would have the ability to destroy your career.

 

The only true way to control your image and information is to be entirely sure about who has it. In other words, only you can have this information.

 

You will lose a couple clients, namely the most vocal clients here, but trust me, being a discreet, unknown escort will make you incredibly attractive to people who are interested in travelling with you. That's where the real money is.

Safe? None of this is safe.

 

I think the better way to think about it is assessing risk versus reward in context and trying to mitigate the risks to a degree that you’re comfortable with. I agree with Juan that sharing your face picture, even just through emails, could result in people becoming aware of your work as an escort. As far as politicians in the sex industry: we've so far seen Ted Cruise look alike in drag doing a porn video, and someone else famous for Las Vegas hotels defending penis size at a political debate. So hopefully we're not too far off from sexuality being grounds for termination from any job.

 

That said, I guess that's why some, if not many, porn stars kill themselves. However, Juan I'm surprised you feel that way because you're usually advocating being open/free accepting about being an escort? So it seems like you want to protect your identity, but you advocate a strong desire to be accepting of escorting. But how can that be if showing face is seen as destroying someone's livelihood? It's not like their butt naked, or having sex videos. And in these days of stolen pics and cat fishing, I don't think having a face pic on an escort site is that big of a deal UNLESS they are currently in a lawyer or teacher position. In which case they shouldn't be in the adult business.

 

I personally am getting a bit annoyed about people knowing I'm an escort. I think whether or not you share a full face pic is a very personal decision, based on your comfort level, as well as your own future plans, hopes and ambitions. But, Juan is right. If you do provide a picture you must assume that your work as an escort will be public knowledge at some point. If you are not ready for that, and at your age I might think on that a bit longer, then do not provide face pics. In 40 years, when your confirmation hearings for Secretary of State are scheduled, you will have enough to worry about without your early 20s endeavors becoming an issue.

 

On another point, I would suggest that you edit your ad. I think establishing a low hourly rate for your time and simply stating that you are new to escorting is more than enough. The extra explanation about why your rate is low & etc. is far too apologetic when you have nothing to apologize for. Just the marketing guy in me.

Neither will using a fake name or fake phone. You want to escort? Be ready to take those risks! With that said, I'm going on my 8th year. never one have I have issues with cops. Now, there were a couple times I called the cops, but it didn't affect me, my hotel or business. There's no reason to hide. Who cares what any one thinks, as long as when you look in the mirror your happy! Welcome to the headless torso group of escorts-- y'all just seem to get more and more ! I suspect that a face pic can be the tipping point for being truly outed and many chose not to take that step. That applies to clients too. Escorting and hiring escorts are not universally accepted in 'polite society', but often the plausible deniability of not having a face pic out there can be enough. For men who are concerned about public exposure of their activities, keeping their face pic off the net is perfectly reasonable. Some, like you, may not care, but others do and we should accept that.

If you are uncomfortable sharing a face pic, don't share it. Some potential clients will not be okay with that and others will be. It is really up to you. In terms of "safely" sharing a pic, there is no "safe" way to do it. Once the pic is out of your hands, it is up to the recipient to do with it as he pleases.

The services that promise a phone number report are not 100% accurate. There are now sites that create fake record for a phone number in an attempt to trip up the reporting sites. You might very well waste your money. Besides, would you want your client to do the same to you?
