I would like to be in nyc2222's bed, wherever it is, acting out one of those gay romance novels.

LOL Glynn....Somehow I think that would be a lot more fun too :)

Why is it that many Southern Californians are so smug about the weather there. I mean, they have nothing to do with it, except if they are creating smog and smoke by driving and setting fires. When I lived in Guadalajara for a year, the weather was universally nice. It made planning for outside activities a lot easier but I do not recall writing home about it.

I detect climate envy in your tone, jersey boy ;)

Well which would you prefer if you were in my position: Home comfy and warm doing this and that with the snow or Beautiful weather and at work never getting out of the office. So why would I envy sunshine when the snow is clearly the better choice.

I love my job, so I rather have nice weather while I work :). Something just feels good about others partaking and benefiting from good weather. I don't begrudge them. By the way, today I'm in Charlotte enjoying playing in the snow with kids, dogs, while typing here. Life is good and sounds like you are yummy & warm too. Let's enjoy!

It's not that we are so smug about the weather - we are just revelling in the good weather. In actuality, having gone to school in the midwest where there is lots of snow and COLD weather and in Washington, D.C. where even the threat of a single snowflake paralyzes the city, and i also used to ski, I did enjoy the cold and precipitation to a certain degree. However, in my old age now, the warmth is just the thing to keep my creaky bones from locking up. IMHO, it is simply an invitation to some of our travelers to cum out here and enjoy us. Now, a hot shower to start off certain activities...

Besides, PK, what makes you so sure we are always in the office and not outside enjoying the beauty, especially on the weekend!

Exactly...except that we southerners are just a little smug. Sorry... Me and the dog are heading to the beach to watch the day come to an end. The tail end of that east coast storm swept through here last night and gave us rain, and temps in the sixties. So I gotta bundle up. :D

i did say those were your choices, they were my two options, so the snow is clearly the winner. Home with the snow, nowhere to go, except to the e bank to cash in my dough and I did not even have to go.

I hate y'all who are enjoying the snow! Snow fall his year has sucked big time in Chicago! Please send some back to the midwest:(

Hugs,

Greg

You may have all of mine. This is the view from my front-facing living room window taken around 3 pm today. There is now a drift maybe 3 feet at its highest between the two vehicles.

Snow, which started just before midnight, is supposed to stop by 7 am tomorrow, so other than the pain of shoveling out one side and behind the car, I should be good to go by end of day tomorrow. The worst was almost getting into a second accident turning left out of a besieged grocery store parking lot around 6:30 pm last night onto a busier-than-usual street. This was well before any snow started falling.

A Twitter friend who lives in Denver taunted those of us in the path of the storm by saying it was 51 degrees. I shot back "it'll be your turn soon." As Denver already has had snow (evidenced by her snow dog photos) and this is our first, I feel confident in making this prediction.

what am I doing today?....woke up to 40 degrees and went and did some volunteer hiking trail maintenance early this morning, wearing a warm fleece jacket....it warmed to 80 by midday and I was down to a thin cotton tee by the end of the work....back home, windows and doors are now open to warm up the house in preparation for a high tomorrow of only 63......life in the desert - freeze at night, burn in the daytime.....going to watch "Capote" tonight and hit the rack very early for another early outdoor adventure tomorrow.....

gotta say that being curled up with a dog and sipping hot chocolate while a storm rages outside would be a nice change.....

Well if you want to curl up with a dog and sip chocolate come to Jersey. I'll send the canines out so they wont get in the way of your cuddling up with this dog.

in Northern Worcester County, Mass (with the lights of Mt Wachusett Ski area off in the distance), it is 18 degrees with very light snow. I'm siting in living room, wood stove a blazing, with a nice old fashion in hand. I love to listen to the wind howl around outside in the trees and be warm and toasty inside. So far this year I think we have had only about 4 inches of snow. Last year we had a total of 7 feet.

This is my dog any time it rains.

He'll dance and beg to go out so I'll suit up with the coat and the hat and as soon as I go charging out the front door and he sees it's raining he puts on the brakes and WILL NOT step over the threshold. I look back and he's all "YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!"

I do make him go out, and he hates every minute of it. But I don't have to pick up poop in the house.

My terrier was exactly like this until we got him a yellow slicker. Then he was happy to go out in the wet.

It's 77F inside and 26F (windchill 17F) outside. I opened the bedroom windows despite the snow on the inside because there's no way I'll be able to sleep without them open with it as hot in here as that. (The screen windows are left in year round.) The snow plow was here for about half an hour starting 45 minutes ago. It'll be interesting to see how hard it is to shovel enough to get out. If I can, I may go shopping to give the landlord time to plow the parking spaces/lot before I get back. Otherwise I'll have to do more shoveling.

I finally made the glogg I'd been meaning to make since Christmas, when my ex left me the bottle of merlot he brought for dinner. It was yummy, although 77F indoor temperatures are not really the right ones for heated alcoholic beverages. Here's the recipe:

I didn't have cardamom pods, so I substituted star anise.

ETA: Someone from Twitter pointed out I can turn on the A/C, as bizarre as that seems under the circumstances.

I'm cruising the South Seas around New Zealand. Then heading to Hobart, Tasmania. Before the cruise I was in Los Cabos (was going to be on a romantic trip with my ex, but we broke up). Will head back to rainy California rain way after Groundhog Day. If the snow lets up, will ski the Lake Tahoe area.
