I believe gifts should be at the intersection of your thoughts for someone else and what that someone else likes/wants. This is what I call the "sweet spot" for giving. Examples:

  • If I was giving Jock123 a gift, I'd take a look at his Amazon wish list and narrow it down to something I believe appropriately reflects my thoughts for him. Now, if I could just figure out how to book him!
  • If I was giving Greg a gift, it would be silver coin in an amount that I think appropriately reflects how sweet and courageous I think he is.:) I may have to declare bankruptcy !
  • If it was Mr. Gaite, it would have to be a travel accessory with a special name tag that says: Star Wood (yes, Mike, I pay attention to your quality posts) :D
  • If it was Brian k, I'd cook him my fajitas, guacamole, and strawberry Rita's, cuz I know that boy loves to eat and there is no better gift for someone who is authentic than authentic food! ;)

In other words, give your gift the thought you and your companion deserve.

If he's a long time companion, I'm sure you've talked to him at length about stuff other than sex. :)

I'm sure if you think about it, he may have mentioned something that you could get him as gift. I'm an artist/designer so I tend to make stuff for people. I always say you know you're my friend when I start making you stuff. :D Anyway, I usually make something pertaining to whatever I know the person has an interest in.

Let me tell you a story about one Mr Tristan Baldwin. It's a long one so bear with me...

If you ever met him he wears his big heart on his sleeve. One of the most important things in his life is his precious little dog Madison. She is his baby, his world. Knowing how important she is to him, a number of years ago, randomly I bought a dog toy (a neon green turtle made from rope) for him to give to her. He told me that it was one of the most thoughtful things someone could have given him. He always tells me I never have to get him anything for his birthday, Christmas, etc. I usually don't listen though. Lol! That dog toy is what I think was the catalyst in solidifying our friendship.

But wait it gets better....

Again I'm an artist, so one year I decided to draw a picture of Maddy. I didn't tell Tristan about it... I like surprising people. We had a planned meet up one winter night. I came to his room and he let me in. Tristan went straight to the bathroom to freshen up. So he never saw me hide the framed illustration in his room. Before we got down to the bedroom activities, I calmly told him I brought him a gift. To which, he replied, "you didn't have to buy me anything." I said, "I didn't. Look by the coach" with a knowing smile. He picked up the frame and swung back around looking at the picture, looking at me, big wide saucer eyes. The look on his face was priceless. He couldn't hide his emotion, nor appreciation. This man... this strong willed military vet began to tear up. Honestly from that point I can't remember exactly what he said. I was actually shocked I brought him to tears. I think I even apologized. I mean i know he said a lot, and I do mean a lot, of words of appreciation. I never thought my simple gesture of friendship would bring anyone to tears, let alone someone like Tristan.

I was reluctant to recount making Mr Baldwin cry. I didn't want to ruin his tough guy rep. :p But you know what, he said it was ok to tell it. So it's been told. Tristan is a tough guy with a heart as big as a whale. He keeps that picture on the left side of his mantle and always will.

The moral of this story is if you listen to what people say, especially if you care for them, they'll usually tell you exactly what they want or need.

Big-n-tall and Tristan, you have both honored us with what I think is the best testament to what is GOOD in the escort/client relationship. Thank you for sharing that wonderful story.

I also have to give a shout out to PurpleKow here, without 'kiss and telling' too much. He's very good at tailoring gifts to each and every escort- to which I had the honor of receiving a bottle of very nice cologne. Clearly because I stink...

Nay; rather it is an absolutely PERFECT type of gift because industry guys have to smell good, so they're clearly going to use some sort of product to achieve that end. Each and every time I reached for that bottle, I thought of him- that and underwear are very long lasting gifts that also cause reflection. Many thanks for your friendship and honesty- you're always a refreshing voice here...because it's a REAL friend who often tells you what you DONT want to hear.

Well when it comes to telling people what they do not want to hear, I may be the Poster of the Year on this site. And as I recall, that cologne was given prior to our first meeting and so I really could not be sure you would stink. It was a lucky guess.

By the way, that charcoal does look great and that is one lucky dog to get to sleep with you on a regular basis.
