More to the question what discussion has DuPont fils had with DuPont père about it. Still in a similar situation, I can't see my Dad having quit a good job if he had worked there for years.

What I would say to the father, is the best way to insure change is from the inside. it is likely that he cannot change the politics of the people that run the company individually, but he can work to change the politics of the company as a entity.

I would also mention that his son did not graduate magna cum laude as his husband did, so he was obviously marrying up.

Or the husband who graduated Magna took enough gut courses to squeak by. I did short time at Duke before transferring to Jale and know these prep-school-to-Duke-to-not-quite-top-tier-law-and-MBA-school types better than one might like to. Ideal NYT wedding-page fodder.

Could I suggest that only someone who went to Yale or Harvard might characterize Duke as an also ran?:p

After a few drinks, Truereview to Mr. DuPont senior: Congrats on the wedding! I guess your son didn't follow your footsteps into chick biz, eh?

Perhaps he could head up None-of-your-Business Development. http://www.boytoy.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

After a few drinks I would probably start making cracks to him about being a chicken hawk myself. :p

There is nothing in the announcement to suggest that Dupont senior attended the wedding or approved of it. Junior might even be rebelling against a parent with whom he has a bad relationship, or none at all.

I think, but don't know for sure, that if a parent disapproved/wasn't involved in the wedding then their name wouldn't be mentioned in the article. I've definitely seen wedding announcements where parents weren't mentioned. So considering this article is going to go in your Wedding Album so you can fondly reminisce about the day in future years, then why would you want to include the name of someone trying to spoil your special day?
