I'm sure this discussion has been had before but why isn't there a sports forum.

Maybe it could be called Cheers and Jeers or something witty like that.

Can't wait to find out and all the other interesting opinions.

Fascilis descensus Averno. And that seems to be the direction the Cubbies are headed.

Some of us are from the avenues and have pulled ourselves up despite the elite, but unfortunately the Cubs do not appear to be of the same caliber.

Well: If the Red Sox could come from behind, 0-3, in 2004 and go on to win the World Series [all of this under Theo Epstein, let's not forget], THERE IS HOPE>

I lived four blocks from Wrigley field for three years. Interesting Neighborhood.

I'm not a big sports fan but I do enjoy rooting for the under dog like the Cubs. Who knows maybe Madden will kick them in the butts tonight after this loss and they'll get their swing back? I really would like to see them win. From the lil I've seen those young guys are really doing well, even if they dont go all the way.

Hugs,

Greg

Greg, this morning one of the talking heads on ESPN pointed out that the Cubby's famous bats droop badly when a pitcher's fast ball averages over 94 mph. And that the Mets were averaging 95.5 mph with some of the relievers able to put in a couple of innings throwing heat approaching 99+ w/o blowing their arms.

I was rooting for the Cubs too. :(

Oh well...

Cause the forum is run on Xenforo's gay package, which only allows discussion about glitter, fancy hats, and musical theater?

Glitter, fancy hats and musical theater are great. Sports are occasionally discussed here but rarely are the threads very popular. However, I believe that expecting the Cubs to come back against the pitching of the Mets qualifies as big a fantasy as the one in which Jean Valjean, as played by Alec Andrews, wears nothing but a feathered boa and a fedora with a feather matching the boa, glitter shimmering off his exquisite molded physique and sings Some Day My Prince Will Come. Please note, there is only once Prince posting on this thread and he is quite willing to come.

I agree about the Met's pitching doesn't look good for the Cubs. I always root for the underdog. o_O

I'm not sure the rest of your thread is anybody's fantasy but your own, but way to dream. Keep reaching for those stars PK. (poor Alec)

Mama told me not come, that ain't the way to have fun son. ;)

As to baseball, this year is exciting because new teams are in the NLCS. For the last decade it has mostly been the Giants, Dodgers and the Cardinals. How much more is there to say about the St. Louis Cardinals.?

Considering they weren't expected to START contending until NEXT year, I can't really complain.

Remember, Theo said four years ago it would be a five-year rebuild. They're doing pretty well for a team not expected to be contending, and the core of the team is under Cubs control until 2021. So this is the WORST Chicago Cubs team they'll field in the next six years, with more young talent chugging their way up out of the minors.

Even if they lose tonight it's a good time to be a Cubs fan.

Yes, I hope the Cubs win at least the next two games at home. Losing all four games might be fine for a team the plays in the post-season often, but that's not the Cibs.

Well, the Cubs wouldn't be the first "cursed" team helmed by Theo Epstein, down 3-0 to a New York team, that went on to win the World Series.

And as some smart aleck on Twitter posted, no team in MLB history has ever lost the NLDS down 3-0 after a drought of 89 years or more.

To the OP's question, I think a sports forum would be fun. But.. we all know gay men have no interest in sports, at least that's the stereotype.:p

What is this S*P*O*R*T you speak of? Is it a foreign language? For me it is a word of sound and fury signifying nothing.

+1

General Groves on Oppenheimer: "He's a genius. A real genius. Why, Oppenheimer knows about everything. He can talk to you about anything you bring up. Well, not exactly. I guess there are a few things he doesn't know about. He doesn't know anything about sports."

We definitely didn't learn from our Babe Ruth experience: keep the talent or you'll pay a steep price.
