While I've had 'feelings' for handsome, muscular guys since I was 4 or 5, my 1st encounter with gayness was a bit different.

My family was driving from NW Texas to Dallas to visit family. In the car were my parents, my 17 year old brother and my 15 year old sister. I was about 10 or 11. While driving on the highway off to the side we see a farm/ranch. The name of the place was Gay Acres. My brother starts laughing uproariously. I have no idea why. Now at the time I'm not even sure if I knew girls were built differently than boys and probably knew nothing about the birds and bees.

I ask my mother what's going on. She tells me it's the name 'Gay' in the ranch. I ask what it means. She tells me gay people are people with hormonal problems (this was 1971-72). So a few months later someone in my 5th grade class who was more advanced than I was mentions something or calls someone gay. I said, 'Oh, I know what that it is. Those are people with hormonal problems.' For some reason my definition didn't go over well.

When I was about 9 growing up in Italy, my older sister had a subscription to a bimonthly clothing sale catalogue similar to the Sears mentioned above, I remember clearly the first time I saw towards the end pictures of men in underwear and getting weird feelings in my belly and down there, and since then I would wait patiently every 2 months for it and secretly look at those pictures in my room...

Alas, my sister stopped the subscription after not too long...

Then when I was 12 I also started to have "weird" feelings for a 14 years old friend, who already had reached puberty.

When I was perhaps 14 I remember walking in Milan not far from my home and all of a sudden finding and picking up a straight porn magazine left by someone on the ground, hiding it in my back and bringing it at home. I closed myself in the bathroom and looked avidly at it with a raging hard on, and all of a sudden in the middle I see 2 pages of pictures of gay sex! The exact moment I looked at those pictures I had my first explosive orgasm that left me totally exhausted seated on the toilet for a good 5 minutes without being able to stand up! :D

Since then I would regularly and secretly buy porn magazines in a local newspapers kiosk by my home who had a porn section (eventually the first totally gay magazine called "Italia Gay" magically appeared, unforgettable day when I spotted it!) and run home to my regular secret orgasms in the bathroom. I think that the man who sold newspapers and magazines was the first person to be totally sure I was an adolescent gay guy! I would walk closeby to the kiosk, wait for the moment nobody was around, pick up the magazine not even looking at him in the eyes or saying a word, I was very ashamed, paying him and left with the tail in between my legs, but of course for him it was business, he didn't care.

I had my first not-so-nice experience with a man in his early 50s when I was 18, and my first fabulous sexual encounter with a gorgeous Hungarian tourist guy met in the street in his middle 20s (who took me to his room in the hostel where he was staying) when I was 19.

Came out of the closet at 21 to family and friends (not easy, but definitely not terrible, nobody "rejected" me) when I met a guy 10 years older than me who was living alone and whom I saw regularly for 3-4 months.

And the rest is history.

I knew where my Dad's porn stash was, mostly Playboy and Penthouse and a couple of cartoon books called (I think) "From Sex to Sexty". A friend and I were looking through them, I must have been 10 or 11, and I remember saying to him "I'm looking for pictures of naked men". "The Year in Sex" and "The Year in Movies" features were the few places in Playboy to see naked men. Penthouse would occasionally have couples pictorials. At one point he had one or two "Oui" magazines with couples layouts that were a bit more revealing of the guys.

I think you mean Shirley MacLaine and not Sandy Denis.

You are right. I remembered Audrey Hepburn, but I was confusing Maclaine with Sandy Dennis's role in The Fox (1967), another movie in which the lesbian had to die in the end. After a half century, my movie memories are not as sharp as my personal memories.

Yeah - my dad had Playboys, and that was not a secret for me and my brother (I guess he didn't mind if we saw them). He did have a stash of more hard-core porn in the attic, and I discovered them by accident once when I was looking for something up there. My teen years then became a game, where my parents then put a padlock on the attic door, but I kept finding where they would hide the key...:D

I came across my Uncle's stash of Penthouse once when I was around 15. But I don't think I ever really looked a lot at the centerfold. Maybe I did but I don't remember doing so now. What I liked about Penthouse were the letters in their Forum. Hmm Penthouse Forum-Message Forum. I guess I was primed to read our beloved Forum from experiences years ago.

Most of the Forum letters started something like.....

Dear Penthouse,

I am a student at a small Midwestern university. I never really believed the letters in the Forum until one night late at work when it was just my female manager and me cleaning up.....

At which point the manager would step out of her clothes because they were too warm, see the student's raging erection, and she and the student would make wild passionate monkey-sex somewhere uncomfortable like on a drainboard.

Much like in Lake Wobegon where the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average, in the Penthouse Forum all female managers are incredibly good looking with a large bra size, become overheated easily and have to step out of their clothing, secretly have the hots for all male subordinates, and all male subordinates are well-hung with at least 7 inch tallywackers.

But occasionally the Forum would surprise you. I remember one letter from a guy with a description of a males only camp out he went on with 4 or 5 friends. They had probably been drinking when all of a sudden these normally straight (a point the letter write stressed), manly and apparently all well-hung men got horny started stroking each other and performing oral on each other.

I loved that that letter as I still remember it 39 years later.

Oh yes - those letters sections were fun, plus my dad's little collection was mostly porn novels, rather than picture stuff. And those could be extra fun because it wasn't just about the sex - it was the story and the characters, etc. Maybe that's why I developed an interest in roleplay, lol.

(And yes, that collection did contain some bi/gay stuff. My dad and I did later have a bit of a talk where he admitted to some gay feelings and experimentation with a friend in college. But it's not something I feel he's ever been that comfortable talking about, so I've never pressed him on it. That's his private business.)

I found my parents' copies of The Sensuous Man and The Sensuous Woman (sex/lust manuals for those not familiar with those titles ) when I was a teenager and read them. I was quite shocked by their content. I'm sure I had an erection while reading them.

My parents had a copy of My Secret Life - right in the bookshelf, yet! (We had a huge collection of books in the basement recroom.) An odd book (a young British boy's very graphic coming-of-age story, written as a sort of memoir), but yeah, I was secretly reading it. They also had Naked Lunch, which wasn't really porn, but had some sex scenes in it.

This was around 13 or so, I think - though I was developing as one would expect, I was a late bloomer in terms of orgasm (not until the summer after I turned 14), But there was a part in My Secret Life where the (basically straight) boy describes watching a friend jerk off (the first time he saw someone cum), and later, a part where he describes his own first ejaculation. I must have read those sections millions of times lol.

John Kerr also starred in the play on Broadway, which may explain why he's way too old in the film. I watched it again recently on Turner Classic Movie; it's really dated now. Now you could not play up a gay plot, and suddenly change gears near the end.

I should read the play to understand if the ending was changed for Hollywood. "Tea and Sympathy" is available to purchase at Amazon. I suggest we both read the play instead, although I totally agree about John Kerr in the film version of "South Pacific."

You COULD have played up the gay aspect at that time and made it true, but THEN he would have had to hang himself or jump off a bridge or be eaten by starving Island boys (THERE'S a reference :) at the end as ALL homos did in old films. No the end was not changed, in the play he has sex with her just as in the flick, hence the most famous oft copied pre-sex line "when you speak of this be kind"etc. Tennessee Williams however was famous for saying in regard to films of his plays, "leave 30 minutes BEFORE the movie ends and go read the end of the PLAY" lol. They changed EVERY ending for the movie versions, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof the dead hero is NOT revealed as GAY, Sweet Bird Of Youth Paul Newman is NOT castrated to make him useless to other women (they break his nose instead) Streetcar, pregnant money-less Stella does NOT go back to her husband, she goes into her neighbors, etc. And YES I echo, John Kerr (NO relation to Deborah whom he screws in the movie) WAS kinda hot in South Pacific!!

AND WOW THIS IS THE MOST REPLIES TO ANY THREAD I'VE STARTED 62!

I am not really familiar with this work. But when I read Wikipedia's article about the movie, I thought they only kissed and didn't screw.

This is so funny! I just found my old copy of this a couple of days ago deep in the recesses of an unused file cabinet at work which I was emptying due to my recent retirement. I knew that I had never tossed it out and was pleasantly surprised to find it. How it got there I'll never know, but there it was! I bought it my senior year in college in 1972 as it was all the rage back then. The price sticker is still on it: $1.50.

My favorite line is:

"Since all Sensuous Men are ardent and proficient at nibbling, nipping, eating, and sucking, there's no point in your trying to fake a broken tongue or charley horse of the lower lip as an excuse to skip out on oral sex."

Darn there go my best excuses. :p

I can't remember if it's this one or the one for women that talks about rolling a grape around on your tongue-for dexterity I guess. And also rolling around on a bear skin rug-I can't remember why you were supposed to do that.

I also found and read my parents copy of Everything You Wanted To Know About Sex* But Were Afraid To Ask.

(All these books were 'hidden' in the lower drawer of my parents dresser. -wasn't I a dickens snooping around there?:p)

AND WOW THIS IS THE MOST REPLIES TO ANY THREAD I'VE STARTED 62!

Good job! Either views or replies can be good measures of a thread's success. I always felt that if I can get 500 views on a thread, that it's pretty successful. The "Colin Wayne" thread, now in the gallery is getting close to the 3000 mark, which is pretty damned successful. The Bill Cosby thread now has a string of over 80.... I think this string can probably beat that.

I just looked up two of my old favorite threads, and they haven't passed Colin Wayne's viewership. The Short Shorts thread is now at 2726, and armpit heaven is at 1745....

I have a feeling many of us (me, for sure) enjoy trying to remember back to where it all began - whether it's first experiences, or first realizations, etc. So it's bound to be an appealing topic to discuss.

The only sex thing I ever found, was when my neighbors wife gave me a box of old vhs tapes she had. (I was about 13).. hidden among the various cartoons and sci fi was a blank no label tape. Of course I popped it in the VHS.. was a sex tape of her and her totally hot buff black haired blue eyed was army but transferred to AF husband. The camera angle was pretty much focused mainly on him.

I think I wore out that vhs tape lol.. and every time I walked outside and saw him, it was I know what you look like naked, and I know what you have down there :p

She must have realized she was missing that tape, she came knocking a few days later asking my parents if they found anything with the VHS tapes.

I of course played innocent :) Hmm I wonder if I still have that tape in storage with the other VHS tapes.

My first inkling was watching professional wrestling. It definitely did something to me.

DG just for admitting that you watched "professional" wrestling you get a "like"! Funny as a kid it really did not turn me on as it seemed overly phony and the guys were not really in the best shape. However, later on I did get more interested in it as the guys really began to get pumped up. Of course by that time it was even more "over the top" unbelievable. Still, I did attend a few "shows" in person. The funny thing, a friend actually thought it was totally real and when John Stossel did his exposé was so shocked that he stopped watching cold turkey!

Also, back then the fact that the then WWF (now the WWE) is located locally one might even see a wrestler or two while shopping in a store, or walking down the street. Incidentally, I stopped watching it in the late 1990's so if I have bumped into a wrestler locally since then I would just think that he was a hot guy. I would have no clue regarding his identity.

Oh, and speaking of wrestlers, there is one who does indeed live here locally who works it even though he has not worked for the WWE to the best of my knowledge! ;)

Too bad you don't remember because I'd love to know why you had it at work!

I remember those volumes too, although my memory of The Sensuous Woman is clearer than that of The Sensuous Man. I never read either of them, but I read Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex. Now that I think about it, I wonder where, as I don't think I purchased it.

As a young impressionable 9 year old, my best friend and I frequently had sleep overs, getting up early on a Saturday morning to watch the morning cartoons, especially superfriends. We often talked about how muscular superman and aquaman were. This evolved into us taking turns during commercials sucking each others cocks under the covers while the other enjoyed and played look out lest we be discovered. I really enjoyed those cartoon times and they still bring back fond memories!

LOL! The figure four leg lock and the sleeper hold were my favorites! In fact a couple of weeks ago a certain escort threatened to put the sleeper hold on me. He didn't do it, but perhaps next time I'll have him try it to see for myself if it's for real ! ;)

This was the time frame when I was into it, and speaking if it's really for real... Well...
