I am going to Los Angeles next week and I am still looking into where I am going to stay. LA is a big and unfamiliar place for me. I am planning on hiring while I am there but I am worried that I might choose a hotel that is too far removed and escorts will not want to travel there. I found a place I'd like to stay in Beverly Hills, but don't know if that is centrally located enough. Am I overthinking this? Is it common and accepted in LA to have to spend 30 minutes to drive from once place to another? Thanks for any input!

The LAX area is only about 30 minutes from West Hollywood if you avoid the freeway (La Cienega Blvd is a great way to get back and forth to the airport.) . I can' believe that any experienced escort couldn't be able to get there easily.

As TGuy says, most of the guys are based in WeHo or Hollywood, east of Beverly Hills. The Ramada Inn on Santa Monica Blvd in the heart of WeHo is a popular place. Not fancy but clean, rooms are large, WiFi, etc. I think your base should be more for whatever you are coming to LA to do. Also, going TO the guys is very popular here so check out the guys' locations and maybe you'll be the one to have the 20-30 minute drive (if you are renting a car).

A 30 minute drive in LA is pretty common with traffic so that should not be a deterrent for either of you. Beverly Hills to WeHo is 15-20 minutes tops.

Good luck!

No, you are not over thinking this, Bev Hills is very centrally located, 30 min is normal, and ...TGuy provides excellent information. Good luck

Thank you all for your input! One more thing.... Is there always going to be a parking fee at the hotel I stay at? In my researching I've seen $25 to $40 per day for parking. Is that just how LA is? Also, an escort is going to have to pay that parking cost too, right? And if they do, are they going to ask me for reimbursement? Just trying to figure this crazy city out. Thanks guys

you'll probably have to pay for parking unless you're at a Super 8 way out in Santa Clarita!!.....some places may even have mandatory VALET parking (tip the guy, though the parking charge will be added to your room bill).....yes, LA is just that way.....valet everywhere, it seems, and, often, just a hassle to park in the highly-congested areas like BH, Weho, Hollywood, and West LA....and watch out for permit-only spots on the streets

I ALWAYS add extra to the escort's fee to cover his parking and parking tip (if he valeted).....this has been debated before here on the board, but I'm just a nice guy and am grateful he came to my place and I didn't have to go PARK at his place!!

Any nice hotel will charge for parking. $25-40 is standard. They charge for parking in FTL also, so it's not just LA...AND I always pay for parking for the escort.

Or if the escort Uber-ed or took a taxi, I'd expect to pay for that too.

I will admit that in years past, I probably met some escorts in NYC (and maybe Chicago) without paying their travel charges. But in those cases, they were taking public transport-a few bucks. If they had had to take an actual taxi in NYC or Chicago, I would have paid for that.

Hi NewGuy -

I highly recommend staying in West Hollywood. It will be easy for you or for your chosen man. The Chamberlain is lovely... very centrally located. The London is as amazing though expensive. The Andaz on sunset or Mondrian are also very nice. Slightly lower scale is the Ramada... super centrally located and slightly more affordable but a tad shabby. Good luck.

On top of the cost of a rental car (unless you are driving from your home to LA) that pays for a whole lot of taxis/Ubers or public transport.

I'm staying in a hotel in St. Louis in an upcoming trip and it charges $27 a day for parking. So it happens everywhere.

Parking has only been an issue for me in a couple of US cities, and a few years back so the actual number is irrelevant. I was at a conference in St Louis, but can't remember if they charged. They did in DC and Honolulu (but a car was essential for me those trips), no charge in Tampa. In Sydney CBD, $AU25 a day.

I moved to LA from NYC in 1990 and did not know the city. The place is huge. I found out that you can't live in Santa Monica and work in Pasadena. Yes, people are willing to drive 30 miles for a coffee date or to pick up their dry cleaning (typically distance is measured in travel time rather than in miles)--except during commuter rush when nothing moves (OK, so maybe that is most of the time now.) Beverly Hills, trust me is very centrally located for anything, including hiring. You probably want to be there or in West Hollywood, or in North Hollywood, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, or even as far as Santa Monica. Angelinos are used to traveling. West Hollywood is the epicenter of the gay community, but as with everything else in LA, things tend to be spread out. When you are not entertaining the local talent, I suggest you visit the Getty Museum for the architecture and the views (reserve parking ahead!) and the LA County Museum, which is excellent. Drive the length of Mulholland Drive on a clear day (if there is one.) Universal Studios is a hoot if you don't take it too seriously. Actually, all of LA is a hoot if you don't take it seriously. You will need a car. When you are on foot (it happens occasionally,) you can be arrested for jay walking. Do not step off the curb mid block or if you do not have the light--traffic will stop for you and curse you for making them do it. For a city famous for crime, LA is curiously law biding about day to day stuff. Coming from NY, I had to adapt. New Yorkers tend to consider most minor laws to be merely suggestions. Not so in LA., and the police are not friendly. Bars close with a vengeance promptly at 2:00 a.m. Precisely, at 2:00, if you are holding an unfinished drink, the staff will literally take it out of your hand. If anyone tried that in NYC, he would be hurt. I lived in LA proper for only about 6 months, but I really liked it. Best selection of unhealthy fast food anywhere! Fat Burger was my favorite.

I live in West Hollywood, and there is major Hotel construction at the intersection of Sunset and La Cienega which has made the traffic worse than usual on the Sunset Strip. On top of this the city of W. Hollywood just sent out notices to the residents that La Cienega Blvd is going to be closed from Fountain Ave to Sunset Blvd from the end of July until September due to a utility upgrade required for the new hotel complex. So I would avoid the Sunset Strip Hotels like the Andaz, the Mondrian, and the Standard. The Chamberlin is lovely, on a residential street just above Santa Monica Blvd. Beverly Hills is immediately adjacent and you will be fine there if you have found a Hotel you like there.

I travel to LA monthly. I recommend using Uber "Black Car" in the Westwood - Beverly Hills - West Hollywood - Hollywood areas. The cars come quickly and spare me the hassle and expense of parking. Delegating the driving to a local also relieves me of the considerable stress of driving in streets that are much more congested than the ones I'm used to at home (outside Phoenix).

Santa Monica has been mentioned, but not Malibu. I have never had any trouble with escorts driving to Malibu. If anything, they seem to prefer being at the ocean or in canyons. As much as I like Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, why not try something really special. I have not stayed at the hotel below in Topanga Canyon, Malibu, but will on my next visit to Southern California.

i stayed at the Chamberlain the last time I was in LA and it was very nice. I was able to walk around the WeHo area and watch the boys. Walked to the Abbey and some other bars on Santa Monica. Alec fails to mention that he is walking distance from the Chamberlain and although he did not walk to my room, unfortunately.
