When I was a kid, this picture had a huge impact on my life. Am I alone?

Not that one in particular, but I so know where you are coming from. Of course not only the body, but the smile is fantastic, covers his entire face! I also have a picture in my memory

banks that has stayed with me for a life time. And, you are so welcome to the site, GS! It is such an array of members with advice, humor, insight, and intelligence. Rand

You definitely have company on that one.

Here's another one that stopped traffic when it went up on kiosks in San Francisco.

Thanks for the image Lookin...AND God Bless Calvin Klein....and as to the OP's question, Little Marky Mark didn't really have an impact on me, as I had heard from the start that he was very straight, and so I got over it rather quickly, but always remained a huge fan.

And yes...welcome to the forum Greg Smart!!

I was 30 when that picture of Mr. Wahlberg came out in 1981( I didn't know that. I just looked it up). I obviously liked it- but to meet him in person- he seemed back then and still to this day a lot more 'rough trade' than I am used to dealing with. Plus was it before or after this that he said something derogatory about gays. But if I could have had that body and a nice guy- WOW.

Wasnt there another Soloflex guy with larger muscles?

Yes Gman, there were several soloflex guys, not only Scott Madsen but also including Mitch Gaylord. I had always heard that Scott Madsen was homophobic, along with the company. I remember the story breaking and being very turned off. This article indicates that some of that was true.

Not that I'm proud of this but Scott Madsen could have been a straight, thieving homophobe and I still would have done him.

I might have kept my hand on my wallet and stuck in earplugs but I would have done him. http://www.boytoy.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

Sorry for ruining any Scott Madsen fantasies.

...As far as Marky Mark is concerned, he's over rated, over done, and over due to say good bye

Sorry rocky, I don’t agree. I saw Lone Survivor a few weeks ago and I thought Mark Wahlberg did a great job of acting. Add to that that the man has kept his body in fantastic shape for nearly 30 years and has produced some great projects such as The Fighter and Boardwalk Empire! I have to agree with Bosguy on another thread that all three of The Boston Rat Pack—Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, AND Mark Wahlberg have not only been great successes but all still look as good or better than they did 20 years ago!

The Soloflex guy, a young Marky Mark, and even Jim Palmer's underwear ads (yikes, I'm really dating myself!) are all burnished in my memory. But for me, the watershed moment was that classic of the small screen, Dukes of Hazzard. In grade school, the kids who arrived a bit early waited in the cafeteria for homeroom. Every morning after Dukes, all the boys in my class were abuzz over Daisy Duke -- brink-of-puberty hormones raging over her short shorts and skimpy clingy tops. I knew I wasn't like the other boys because I couldn't tear my eyes away from:

Any episode that featured Tom Wopat shirtless made me damn near pass out. Of course, I'd pretend to gush over Daisy, but truth be told, I couldn't tell you if she was wearing cutoffs or a burlap sack.

By the way, little known truth about Mark Wahlberg: he credits Catholicism for turning his life around. Even during the most hectic filming schedules, he manages to find time to attend daily mass.

Mark Wahlberg was born in 1991, so methinks the picture dates to 1991 or thereabouts.

I don't know why your image of Tom doesn't load. Let's try this one:
