Is it a turn-off for you when an escort smokes? It is an absolute negative for me and I will not knowingly hire someone who smokes.

Recently, I had a terrible experience with this. Partially my fault since I did not asked if he smoked prior to getting together with him at his place. When I got there the place was generally messy but the overflowing ash trays were very bad and the place smelled of cigarette smoke. I told him this was intolerable and turned around and walked out after giving him $100 for the cancellation. He appeared truly shocked but I was not going to stay there in that stench.

yes, totally> I wish I had a higher tolerance, but there is something about the smell that turns my stomach and is an instant boner killer……oddly enough I find cigars sexy, but was told that they are pure tobacco and its the chemical additives in cigarettes that I have the strong aversion to. Have never met a smoker yet who can disguise that smell. so yes, its the first thing I look for in their status……..

It never really bothered me if an escort smoked. The last escort who smoked was Brandan Steele. He was very polite about it. He did not smoke in my presence, and left the restaurant to grab a quick smoke. I can honestly say that I never smelled it while I was around him. It's been awhile since I have been around an escort who does smoke, but even back in the day, it never really bothered me.

This is one of the very few I might consider, even tho he smokes, as I find him incredibly hot (i have a weird thing for deep set, close together eyes, like Steve Hooper, Ryan Reynolds)

Totally Agree! I also would give this Hunk a Pass on the Smoking! ;)

On those occasions I've stopped smoking, I've found that I become incredibly sensitive to it. To the point that even having a smoker near me makes me ill from the smell. Consequently, I often have the same concern about my own offensiveness when I'm with someone who doesn't smoke. How do escorts put up with a client who smokes? Since kissing is such a major part of an encounter for me, I worry about an escort not wanting to kiss me because I smoke.

Can someone else confirm or deny the following:

When I was a child, everyone smoked. Everywhere. Maybe it was the prevalence, but I don't remember ever actually smelling smoke in a building or on people's clothes.

I think that, over the years, manufacturers of cigarettes changed their formulation and made them - more odorous.

And I agree: I love the smell of cigars. Takes me back to my childhood in my grandparents house.

It bothers me too, but usually I don't even ask an escort if he smokes because I assume young gay men are less likely to do it. I think I should start doing it after your experience.

Here in DC I might see one person per week who smokes outside a building, fortunately it's a dying behavior.

Jay Holt (don't confuse him with Brett Holt) got out of the restaurant multiple times while having dinner to smoke and it did bother me... I guess I'm not as easygoing as you :)

Would you give Tommy Defendi a pass on smoking too? He openly advertises as a smoker.

The only two escorts who I know smoked and I could detect it were David Anthony and Ben Kieran.

I'm not sure how to explain it, but David didn't smell or taste like cigarette smoke. It was almost a smokey sweetness... like a bbq (as odd as that sounds). LOL! He'd get a pass anyway. That dude is way too hot to care. :)

Ben had been trying to quit. It was barely detectable, but I've been told I have wolf like senses. I don't know how well other people would have noticed of course.

I remember when advertising for tobacco was legal ...

and when on some charter flights the back section of the plane was a smoking section ... today this sounds completely insane.

If their ad says they are a smoker, I pass without making contact. If there is no given info in the ad, I ask. I won't knowingly hire a smoker; smoke turns me off that much. Recently hired a gentleman who lied about smoking...He won't be a rehire, and is now well aware of my dislike.

The above description would have bothered me immensely, too! I probably would have done as you!

I've been with men who smoke, but they have masked this so much that when we've kissed very deeply, their smoking hasn't and wasn't any issue at all.

I abhor smoking and smokers and having to be subjected in smelling this stuff when walking outside in some areas! Apparently the men and women and older boys and girls have not learned about the 'EVILS of SMOKING'!!!

I have a very sensitive sense of smell and am asthmatic. Hence, the topic of second-hand smoke for me is not only a matter of preference but is a health concern. Smoking is not a turn-off as long as the escort does not smoke in my presence, does not smell from smoke, and his home/hotel room does not smell from smoke. The knowledge that an escort smokes does not turn me off. However, if I was trying to decide between two escorts and one advertised as being a smoker and the other advertised as a non-smoker, I would likely choose the non-smoker.

I used to hook up with an escort who smoked. He never smoked immediately before a session. He arrived in fresh clothes, with freshly-brushed teeth, and did not smell from smoke. It is possible for a smoker to be smoke-free with a little effort.

Escorts who smoke don't bother me in the least and I can find it somewhat of a hot thing to have a drink with the escort while he relaxes with a smoke before the fun begins. I have even been known to join him in a smoke if the mood strikes me and I am not nor have I ever really been a regular smoker. If I know in advance an escort is a smoker I will even get a smoking room in a hotel that allows smoking (which are very few these days). I find that this ritual of a smoke helps break any tension or awkwardness that might happen with an initial meeting, and as I mentioned above I do find it somewhat hot for some reason (which I have no idea why).

In general I wouldn't hire an escort who smokes. The main escort Ive hired who does is Andrew Justice. And he is very considerate about it. Smokes very infrequently. If you are only hiring him for a few hours, you might not even notice.

As for the smell in general-I know nothing about what the manufacturers put in their cigarettes now that may make them more or less odiferous than the old days, but I think your hypothesis is probably wrong. They reek now, and they reeked back then too. Now I'm talking about the time period from the '60's to the mid '80's. We just didn't notice the reek because of how common cigarette smoking was. Both my aunt and my grandmother smoked cigarettes. One of the hallmarks of visiting them or of them visiting us would be the smell of smoke. In later years when we all knew smoking was bad, my grandmother would go into one bathroom. To smoke to keep from spreading the smell in the rest of the house. The bathroom probably smelled of smoke for a week after. Neither of my parents smoked- well they tried it out in once or twice. My mother said the smokers at work used to get breaks where the non-smokers didn't. But in general either of my parents smoked. When I was young, the smell of smoke on my mother's clothes after having gone out to dinner on a Saturday night was what I associated with as a normal 'signal' of the weekend.

Yes, when I was a child everyone smoked, but I was constantly sick as a result of it, I used to turn green and throw up in the car etc, so its always had a terrible allergic reaction with me, except oddly, for cigars which I find sexy

Funny you ask, as I love Tommy Defnedi and have often thought about it, but if he is a heavy smoker I don't think I could stomach it…… same with David Anthony who is also hot as hell, but its too big a risk factor for me if I am paying that money

Having a smoking section in an airplane is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool (IMHO of course).

-Exactly what is "too big" that it counts as a risk factor?
