Having a smoking section in an airplane is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool (IMHO of course).

"Funny you ask, as I love Tommy Defnedi and have often thought about it, but if he is a heavy smoker I don't think I could stomach it…… same with David Anthony who is also hot as hell, but its too big a risk factor for me if I am paying that money."

-Exactly what is "too big" that it counts as a risk factor?

I mean the risk of them smelling of smoke despite their protestations that they will brush teeth etc etc, is too big a factor for me to consider hiring them-its such a turn off for me I don't want to take that risk. Did i express that badly??

Did you know that each and every marlboro man has died to some sort of lung disease? I think the last one just died a month or so ago.

Why have I never noticed this Tommy Defendi person? He's totally smokin'! (Pun intended). Is he in NYC or LA? Yum. I too detest smoking, but usually don't mind if people do it outside my presence. Strangely, I can't stomach the after effect in enclosed areas like cars and homes, but I don't mind the lingering smell when mixed with leather in someone's clothing or that combined smell on his person. That's kind of a turn on. But for me, it's an allergic reaction to fresh smoking, in that I immediately get congested and sometimes start coughing nonstop. I'd never insist that my man never ever smoke (although I'd prefer it for his health), but I would insist that he not do it in the home or our vehicles. This Defendi guy might get me to try and push my limits, though... :-P

It bothers me too, but usually I don't even ask an escort if he smokes because I assume young gay men are less likely to do it. I think I should start doing it after your experience.

Here in DC I might see one person per week who smokes outside a building, fortunately it's a dying behavior.

Jay Holt (don't confuse him with Brett Holt) got out of the restaurant multiple times while having dinner to smoke and it did bother me... I guess I'm not as easygoing as you :)

Would you give Tommy Defendi a pass on smoking too? He openly advertises as a smoker.

The woman whose research on the effects of second hand smoke led to the banning of smoking on transcontinental flight

is a professor in the public health department at UC Berkeley and plays bassoon in my community orchestra.

I believe that philmusc put the academic arguments in more colorful terms, but that's pretty much what the research said :)

I think cigar smoking is kind of sexy. Cigarette smoking -- not at all.

I'm OK with the couple-of-cigarettes-day kind of guys if they haven't smoked within the hour. What I really can't stand is someone who has smoked so much for so long that it's in their skin (you can taste it) and that the smell is so strong that it's suffocating. Gigantic turnoff.

I was raised by heavy smokers and had been asked if I smoked because my clothes apparently smelled of it. I couldn't tell because it was all I knew. Then I went away to college and came back for the weekend six weeks later. The stench hit me as soon as I opened the door. I couldn't believe how sensitive I became after such a short time in a smoke-free environment.
