Thanks for posting Jack. Personally I feel that we all have to live our life the best way we know how. All of our journeys very often change course. It is the natural order of things. God knows I have changed paths more times than I can count, so I understand and respect any decision someone makes, if they feel that they will become a better person. I loved watching him, and will miss seeing him, but wish him the best in his journey.

I guess guys who look and are hung like Greek Gods get depressed too. Who would have thought it? That last was an emotional statement not an intellectual one. I mean emotionally we are programmed to respond to 'beauty'. Look at the many good looking CEO's- not all of course- but many. But emotionally you look at them and say- boy wouldn't I want to look like him, have his physique, be as hung as him ( for us shorties out there). And you think to yourself- just like you often do with actors- but maybe in an earlier more star struck populace of the 1940's-60's -'Wow, their life must be great!!' But it's often not so.

 

As for Magnum's reply- there were good points. But, we live in a real world where actions can have consequences. It's very possible that professional doors that he hadn't considered would be affected are. And family disapproval is not unbelievable either. I am glad I had the chance to see some pictures of him as he is just incredible looking. On the other hand, if he now regrets them, I hope they don't affect his life too much in the future.

 

Something Jake talked about- getting into porn ruining your life. I've thought about this. It seems to me that people in the nitty gritty of making porn- both the actors and the technical people less so- most likely have a bit of a wild streak in them-the same way extreme athletes do. If you are willing to experiment with sex in front of people- then maybe you are predisposed for the thrills of drugs or bareback. Obviously not everyone is- but there are some. Also if you look at the number of porn stars that have said they had been depressed or diagnosed with ADHD or had disordered family lives- either before or after coming out as gay- there are a lot. Obviously again not all- but many. On top of that there is the drug culture in NY/California in general in the gay scene- probably in Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta also.

 

So if you have young good looking risk takers with depression, or ADHD, and unsettled family backgrounds, that could lead to drugs and barebacking. I wish the porn studios had some kind of mentoring program to try and steer their actors away from drugs and risky sex. ( I have no use for bareback companies and wish they were banned.). And maybe some financial counseling too. I wish there were the same for escorts. Ones smart financially seem to be Rod Hagen, Steven Draker, and many others.

Man, there are many things that can be humiliating and shaming. I'm a musician, and I've played plenty of gigs where I hated what I was doing but I was doing it for the money.

 

The porn thing, or escorting with face pics: it's there forever. And there is this horrible, ridiculous stigma in society. So if you've done porn, it's pretty much impossible to get other work as an actor. For a classical musician, no one cares that you played in the orchestra for some crappy Christian pop arrangement. Cum on film and it's a big scandal. So in that sense, you're fucked. (Didn't mean the pun but I like it.)

So this is just one guys opinion - mine - and many people may find Jake's blah/blah/blah about being reborn wonderful, inspiring and spiritually invigorating (if so, I'm very happy for y'all). I get my dose of religious language every Sunday from a guy I pay (through donations) to dish it out. Why couldn't Jake just quit, quietly go away and spare us the Ralph Reed or Rick Santorum imitation (more the first than the second)? I'm willing to bet he won't donate the money he made doing porn to any charity other than himself. He has a nice body but too many tattoos so didn't/wouldn't watch him.
