For what it's worth, the house that Dynasty was filmed at is about 20 miles south of San Francisco and is open to visitors. It's an estate called "Filoli." The word "Filoli" is a mash-up of "Fight, Love, Live" which seems very Dynasty-esque to me. It's worth a visit if you're in these parts. Last time I was at that lily-pond I thought 'history was made here!'

There was something about "Dallas," which I can't put my finger on, that transcends its time. "Dynasty" just reeks of the '80s. And not in a good way. And I LIKED the '80s.

 

But I can see a well-done "Dallas" capturing the magic of the first few seasons and having a successful reboot. I just don't know how "Dynasty" could ever pull it off.
