On the surface this sounds like a good suggestion. However, when HooBoy created the 9-11 forum, it was a vehicle for healing and served a positive purpose.

I remember that forum, and I remember plenty of extreme personal and political attacks posted there. I remember one poster who kept spreading the rumor that the WTC attack was carried out by Israeli agents. I don't remember anyone suggesting that he be banned.

 

I have had my differences with ad rian. I have been annoyed by some of his remarks about Israel and have expressed my annoyance in very strong terms. To suggest that he or anyone be banned for no other reason than that he expresses opinions the majority disagrees with just makes a lie out of any assertion that this site welcomes a diversity of opinions.

 

No one needs ad rian's absence to 'go back' to talking about sex or any subject since he has never stopped anyone from talking about anything. Plenty of people here still post the usual boring juvenile crap, I see it on the board every time I come here, and it's utterly ridiculous to claim ad rian is doing anything to interfere with that. Many of his posts may be repugnant but at least they are about something real.

More than likely, if the current Chief Justice retired prior to the 2004 election, as a calculation of what it would take to shore up his most consistent base and the majority of voters in the primary, the current president would appoint Anton Scalia. She also has made it clear since before the 2000 election that she desires to return to Arizona, so it is most likely that Bush may get to select two justices next year, one of which, her replacement, who will have a great impact on reversing many of the decisions on which she has been the fifth, and decisive, vote.

But, in keeping with my foregoing remarks, your work is appreciated because this is a diverse and open community and to the extent the rules are being followed, the way to improve this community would be to improve the rules, to enforce them in an even handed and objective manner, and to continue to modify those rules as cases may require.

 

I do believe politics should be a part of this forum and I also would hope all would take care in using language appropriate to reasoned discourse and communication.

I agree that this can be a forum for political views. However, Adrian has gone way beyond simply discussing political views. I realize that I am fairly new to this board, but I feel that now I know how he feels about any mention that includes the word Israel or any mention that can be misconstrued to include the word Israel. He then takes great glee (very childishly - my mother would have washed out my mouth for his gleeful comments) in repeating and repeating in case you missed the point or in the mistaken belief that is he just keeps repeating he will convince some other poor misguided individual to agree with him. I don't personally think he does know and is covering up his not knowing by claiming that the pilot is in fact responsible. In a court of law that should not be admitted. I am not a lawyer, but I think it is slander or libel, one or the other, unless he can prove the truth of what he says. Therefore, I think he should just shut his mouth unless he can in fact prove all he says and let the rest enjoy the boards for what they were intended.
