News reports today detail how a NJ Mayor has been caught up in a retalitory action on the web by a person who claims he was hired off rentboy.com by a NJ Mayor. The Mayor reportely made promises to the escort that he did not keep and the escort took offense. The web site includes pictures the escort says he took of the sleeping Mayor in his underwear and of the ATM receipt for the $500 the Mayor withdrew to pay the escort.

If this is true, then all I can say is the mayor should have negotiated a better rate. $500 AND a car?! That guy did even better than the escort here who got $4500 for a weekend gig. Somehow I'm reminded of what some wise old sages said - you know, the ones you read about in school - the quotes always attributed to Ben Franklin and PT Barnum come to mind.

And the sage advice: "never piss off anyone who has nude (or almost nude in this case) pictures of you."

lying manipulative egotistical

I am confused. why did the escort feel the need to take it to this level? Is the guy homophobic or something? Is he just doing it out of spite? For publicity? none of the above?

oh wait..i found it..it says he is a lying, manipulative, egotistical hypocrite. So? If we start condemning people like that then ...well a lot of people are gonna be gone.

The internet allows for this type of anonymous attack and as a result, behavior which might be checked by society in other circumstances goes unchecked here. Just check on some of the postings here, there are few of us who would stand up in the middle of Times Square and read all of our individual posts without feeling a bit of remorse or embarrassment. Even the most most brazen of us here, would feel some regret in public but express no such regret here. There is a whole thread here regarding fat clients in which many of the posts would bring redness to the cheeks of the author if forced to identify himself in a public forum. I think this was done, because it could be done and it is surprising that it has not been done sooner.

So Lee, was the sage with the advice that you wrote about Ben Franklin or PT Barnum? Some how I dn't remember hearing those wise words being uttered in American History class - at least not in my school. And I don't think I was simply absent that day - I had nearly perfect attendance so the odds are against that being the reason I'm unfamiliar with that classic utterance. Actually I was thinking more along the lines of "a fool and his money are easily parted" or "there's one born every second."

Actually PK, you speak wisely here (again). The anonymity of the internet shields us from embarrassment and loosens our tongues. Also makes many of us casually meaner to others than we might be in normal everyday face to face encounters.

Nope. It was taken from this sign that I posted in the gallery 7/30:

These are certainly words to live by. I'm nominating you for the all-star Hall of Fame for famous quotes. You'll be rubbing shoulders (figuratively speaking since most of the guys are dead) with the likes of Benjamin Franklin, PT Barnum (already mentioned above), along with Shakespeare (probably not as hot as Ralph Fiennes who portrayed him in the movies), H.L. Mencken, Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain, Bette Davis, Tallulah Bankhead, and St. Paul. Pretty heady company, I'm sure you'll agree. Here's to you - I lift my wine glass with a late harvest Riesling (too sweet, but the bottle was already open)- and toast you.

Being a Jersey boy myself I am quite familiar with Medford. It is a snooty hamlet in Burlington County that is a basstion of "anti" everything including any semblance of gay rights.

The mayor in question ran for congress and on a platform against abolishing "don't ask don't tell" and was proud of bing anti-gay.

I have no idea whether or not he was set up or the incident really happened. This will all play out.

But if it does become a truth then once again, regardless of which party one belongs to, it is yet another case of political hypocrisy.

I have friends that work in Medford (since it is too costly to live there) and they say the incident is spoken in whispers and everyone who lives there simply wants it to go away...we will have to wait and see.

While it has been in the press the story has not yet made the local news.

Gentlemen;

Here lies the difference between an ESCORT/COMPANION and a HUSTLER.

To the poster who asked "who sleeps with their glasses on?", I would say a person who had had a little something to drink at a very late hourwho was waiting for someone to come back but then just dozed off.

Yep.

Even without the drink, I'll sometimes doze off wearing my glasses. All it really takes is getting comfy on the sofa while watching a movie that fails to live up to expectations.

What a crock of crap. I sincerely doubt that the rentboy has a lawyer, and I know there's no way that this supposed "lawyer" told him to sue. Under what grounds is there the basis of legal action? Someone saying something about what they're going to do for you, particularly when under the influence of alcohol (which the RB freely admitted), does not a contract make. Besides, a contract is 2 way. What was the mayor going to get for giving this 'tard a recording studio and a car?

This is clearly extortion. Exactly how much batshit is involved in being crazy enough to believe that these comments supposedly made by the john were "promises" and that the RB is now "owed?"

Maybe the rentboy has another client who is a lawyer and is blackmailing him into taking his case!!!!! "You win this case for me or I'm telling your wife....." That would be a funny twist.

A little off-topic:

What is it with Jersey and gay politicians? (or allegedly gay, I should say)

The first one was that twit who wrapped himself in the "gay American" label, then proceeded to annoy us by trying to sell us his book, now (allegedly) this.

Aaron Lawrence, or Golan Cipel??

Whatever, more moral clarity from the Gay Old Party!
