I just cannot envision the day that I would pay $300 dollars an hour to see an escort. That is just too much. Some guys on here talk about it as though they are proud to pay that much. Suckers!

I would prefer to pay $300.00 for someone I know I will enjoy than $200.00 for a "somewhat good" encounter. It would be great if the guy I want for $300.00 only charged $200.00 but I like quality encounters over quantity of encounters I could afford.

At $5/minute ($300/hr) he damn well better not have a fucking stopwatch!

Otherwise, I'd pay $300/session.

Years ago, a gay journalist hired Talvin DeMacchio as 'research' for a magazine/ezine piece and reported that Talvin charged for 15-minute increments past the hour or agreed time. I don't recall any reviews mentioning that policy, so I'm not sure it was his usual practice.

I respect the point you're making Travis. In a perfect world, price should correlate to a more satisfying sexual encounter. However, it's been my personal experience that the highest price rent-boys are not always the most spectacular (more egotistical perhaps, but not necessarily more enjoyable). Purely my humble opinion here: In the escort world, an exceptionally higher-priced companion doesn't significantly correlate to (or yield) a higher-quality experience.

My opinion, too. And also my EXPERIENCED OPINION....

My point was more to the fact that $300/60 minutes = $5/minute.

If they're $300 or $500 per hour to just be ridiculous, then screw them! I agree $300 does sound expensive

however, I would pay that under certain circumstances. $100/hr is not always the better deal for a ho-hum

boring-tired-into-himself whatever (even if he's hot). I'd pay $300

per hour for a hotter-than-hell guy who's just my type, glowing, smiling (movie star teeth), who smells

amazing, comes over rock-hard and precumming, kisses me like he's just returned home from the War,

and is romantic as all hell while totally focused on trying to make my evening the most special I've ever

had. If he deals with me that way leaving me floating on air and remembering him for years, then yes,

I'll let the money flow. If they're that special they're worth that and more.

As a general rule, I'm with you Goodfella. At some point, the higher the price the more the guy is telling me he is an egotistical SOB more into himself (look at me, I'm so much better than everyone else) than he is into me the client. The number of great escorts who charge the $300/hour and have a great rep and are well reviewed and highly thought of are few and far between. There are some, but not many. But the vast majority of the ones I would consider the greats -- the guys you can count on to always rock your world -- are no where near that. Unfortunately there tends to be more of an inverse correlation to quality after the price gets up that high. Not always, but enough such that the old saying applies: "the race is not always to the swift, the battle not always to the strong. But that's the way to bet."

Same thing with $300/hour escorts. At least IMHO.

I saw Talvin a few years back, and the first email response I got from my inquiry clearly stated that he has the 15 min charge policy. I was younger and newer and more naive back then so I went with it. Didn't write a review as it was an "ok" experience. HE was very nice, looked like his pics and all, but I was surely shown the door at about 57 min!!

In my view, four categories of escorts price in the 300+ range. The first are those that are in high demand because of their professionalism and great service to the clients, the second are those that treat it as a sideline as Cash4Trash indicated, the third are those that are totally clueless (and probably price themselves out of the market) and the fourth are scammers. Only a select few seem to be worth that amount.

Count me with Lookin4hotties, some men are worth it. At $300 I might not tip which I do with a $200 or $250 guy. Also, I normally hire for 2 or 3 hours on a new guy and for longer time the rate per hour drops; it might be $300 for 1 hour, $500 for two hours and $600 for 3 hours! for overnights, the hourly rate drops even more. What a great way to save money: hire for longer periods of time!!!

I am 65 and remember when Ckoe was 10 cents a bottle and movies were one dollar; inflation raises prices and the way the government is printing money to cover its huge deficits, expect more inflation.

There's another category (which perhaps straddles -- like that image? -- a couple of yours: well-known porn stars whose name recognition permits them to charge (or makes them think they're worth) more.

The problem, of course, whether a guy is asking $100 or $300, is knowing in advance how good he is. Price seems to be completely uncorrelated with all those wonderful qualities you list in your post. My general rule of thumb with guys I don't know is to search on the cheaper side (less than $200); that way I don't feel I've wasted a large sum of money on a mediocre experience if he doesn't live up to expectations.

I'll go higher (again, for an unknown) when I have glowing reports from people I trust who understand my tastes and he's someone whose self-description, pictures, and phone conversation really push my buttons.

In the long run it may be cheaper to find a good "Sex Therapist" and realize why your paying 300 an hour just to get your cookies with some guy "Face to Face" ?

"Working Guys" used to be good therapists til their fees started to go wack! This is probably why guys like "Str8 Jeff" are bringing in the big bucks with a WEBCAM!

Sometimes you have to take a chance with someone. Recently I paid a young guy an over the market price to play a father/son scene with me. Had I not offered the extra money chances are he would not have done it. Bottom line is he did a good job, and took a real good one, so it was money well spent. By the way I was the one who offered the amount.

$300.00/hour has always been a bit of a magic number, and we're still discussing it after all these years.

When Hooboy first started, the "going rate" hovered around $150. Some guys were incensed when an escort asked for $200, and $300 was the "OH MY GOD!" rate charged only by porn stars.

Now, think back. That was more than a decade ago. The web, in general, was fairly new to us. Escorts were still more likely to carry a pager than a cell phone, and email was just becoming common. Rentboy.com didn't exist yet! Advertising was still in print.

Things have changed *a lot* since then, but we're still gnashing teeth over $300/hour.

I think $300 is the new $200. My impression is that 200-250 is the median, but it does vary according to location (as well as other factors discussed here). I expect to pay $250 in NYC but not in North Carolina (where cost-of-living is lower).

Anyone care to do some research on median pricing?

I have had two GREAT experiences with an escort who charges $180 an hour. I can get two hours with him for $320. So that $300 an hour guy is going to be hard-pressed to divert my business. There would have to be very special circumstances.

On two occasions I have paid $300 for a hour's session and did not feel too bad about it because both experiences were stellar.

A month ago I gave the escort $450 for almost 3.5 to 4 hours. I'd booked for his usual 2 hours at $350, but he stayed with me much longer than those two hours. I presumed he enjoyed me; thus he was with me for a much longer time than previously scheduled. I know I tremendously enjoyed his company.

Apparently he was "not a clock watcher" either because at one point I mentioned time, and he asked me "if I were worried about it." I responded, "no," but I honestly was although I was having the most fantastic experience that I've ever had with any man!

My escort was beyond belief, and I do plan to hire him again during the summer of this year. A good friend of mine suggested that I begin saving so that our session next time can be longer, something that I desire because I want to engage in a lot of activities which we did not do on our first meeting! Even though it has been almost a month now-- I still smile and yearn for his company when I write anything about him and the time that we had together!

Yum! Yum! Yum! I pay $300+ "VERY SELECTIVELY!"

You get what you pay for is almost never true in the world of escorting.

In the long run it may be cheaper to find a good "Sex Therapist" (to figure out) why (you' re) paying $300 an hour just to get your cookies with some guy "Face to Face"?

Unfortunately, $300-an-hour does not guarantee chemistry. I don't care how "good" an escort is, chemistry is the real deal breaker when it comes to success with an escort.

Gay escorts typically can't get the $ that their female counterparts get because gay men, even though many are in a high income bracket, are more discerning when it comes to shopping and spending. Any professional marketer will know this to be true. When compared to the huge number of straight male customers, gay men who venture into big-bucks territory for sex are a very small minority group. This is also partially due to the fact that gay men, even fat and homely-looking gay men, can always find sex on the cheap, and many of the gay guys with hefty savings aren't really that picky.

I can afford $300-an-hour but the day is rare for me to take a chance on someone new who charges that. I've never been much of a gambling man with money so my gut always says don't take the bait. A smart gay man, especially one who works in advertising, knows a few secrets behind the reasons for marketing oneself with a $300 price tag. Unfortunately, a $300 price tag is often a warning sign.

When I see a $300 price tag, I immediately think the escort is setting limits, for whatever reason. If he has to have sex with a stranger and deliver the goods, he wants to be paid double a standard lawyer's fee. I don't have a problem with this approach. Every businessman is free to run his service business in the manner he prefers. But by setting limits, the escort must accept the financial limits, too, and the negative perception that the escort may be overreaching or, worse, trying to scam. A lawyer serving the business community is typically trying to save his client money, a necessary service at times. The escort's service doesn't save anyone money. He simply wants his fee to (possibly) motivate him to perform well.

I took a chance on a $150 newbie about a year ago and the experience was a mind-blower. Like I said, you simply never know when chemistry will strike. When you have an experience like that, it really is very difficult to take a chance on a $300 unknown. When this escort and I were done and my world was rocked, I asked the guy why he didn't charge more because I knew he had the talent to command more. He told me that he loves giving men pleasure, it turns him on, and some of his favorite customers are guys who could never afford to pay more. He said longtime customers were actually paying less but he's had them for many years. He said he had a friend who charged $250 an hour and complained about customer attitudes and flaky commitments. Customers who pay a higher price for a product tend to be more demanding. To each his own.
