Because I'm not on the MC as often as I used to be, I only recently found out that fellow Minnesotan NCM died. We communicated often about Minnesota and whatnot, and it's a real shame cuz he was a great guy.

I got to thinking. I've been here for the entire duration of the site, and I know that over 10 years one or two in a bunch will die. But:

1. That young escort who walked off a cliff near San Diego (remember him?)

2. Sean/WorldEscort LA/NY

3. That HUGE body builder, Androkid

4. Traveler

5. Hoo, of course, still can't believe that one.

6. NCM

And I think I'm forgetting a couple. Seems to me like a high number for such a specific group of individuals. Maybe we live too hard! :-)

It does not seem like an unusually high number considering the site has been up for 10 years. Many of the people contributing here are men in their 40's 50's 60's and perhaps a few in the 70's. Besides the usual diseases, a fair number of these men may well be long term HIV + survivors. Some of the younger men live life on the edge with drugs and other risky behaviors. So from that point of view, it seems that this is probably a slightly higher than average risk group and ten years is a long time.

I can name 6 people from my immediate family who have passed away in the same period.

The movie

was on TV today. I briefly saw this part tonight. :)

I think this video of the great Shirley MacLaine speaks for me :p

Also and alas, of Course, Nice Guy (really fun Palm Springs client and MC poster) and Bill/Portland. God this is depressing. I guess we should let this thread die. SORRY!

And let's not forget Big Andy, who died of a heart attack on vacation several years ago, his laptop still logged on to this site.

I was just thinking of him, although I think it's starting to be more than several years ago... time does funny things to memory.

There are likely many more who are lost than we know. People fade away and just stop showing up and sometimes it's because of changes in their life. But some, I suspect, are simply no longer with us.

I think of Will from time to time and hope that he is well.

I do not remember the escorts in San Diego. I hired Sean several times; do you remember the story about the speakers? Androkid (that name doesn't seem quite somehow) was here for a while but Traveler what a huge presence who was gone in a flash, much like Hoo.

I too am saddened to hear that Funseeker22 has passed away. Hooboy's passing was, of course, a major event for this site and I still remember his first communication with us that he had suffered a stroke. It was almost surreal to me how quickly he left us after that.

I would like to acknowledge the passing of Brok Austin. an escort from Inndianapolis and Fort Meyers, who died within the last year. He was a warm-hearted and spirited individual whom I wish I had known better.

I always remember Traveller's signoff, "Later" with which he ended every post. Sometimes it occurs to me that it is later than we think!

Here is a thought...

Maybe Daddy could create a seperate Memorium forum where everyone could place their thoughts, condolences, and memories of the people that we all miss. Maybe call it a Memorium Forum. Not sure if feasible...Just a thought though.

Any Memorium Forum should include NCM's last thread. I was moved that he took the trouble to say goodbye.

WOW you're such a downer j/k

I agree its depressing but interesting at the same time. I had lurked off and on for many years and recall some of the people that you and others refer to. I couldn't help but to think of this old song as I read the user names of those who have left too soon.

Be sure to use lube if you lurk off often; otherwise, you could get chafed. :p

Sorry to make light, but I'm always reminded of what Lou Grant said in the famous Mary Tyler Moore episode "Chuckles Bites the Dust":

It's a release. A kind of defense mechanism. It's like whistling in a graveyard. You try to make light of something because it scares you. We laugh at death because we know death will have the last laugh on us.

I find myself wondering how many people who spend time here now arrived after the death of Hooboy and who, consequently, never knew him as the head of the original message center.

So far over the past couple of years I made some friends here. Daddys review is a great community... and it cool that we have found memories :-)

Me too.

Right on, OC! Couldn't agree more. I've found the guys on this MC to be a welcoming group. I just wish that I had discovered this website sooner and had been a member back in the Hooboy days, too.
