This poor thread was way back on page 11. I now have sold 17 theater tickets, so if you are planning to attend and have not told me, please do so soon.

Hey SoCal men! I need your help. I am making my travel arrangements to Palm Springs, and flights from Atlanta to PS are limited, no non-stops, and pricey on both Delta and American. But I can fly round trip to LA on Delta for 198! That is ridiculously cheap.

How far is PS from LA? Is there any kind of local shuttle or train service? Or would I need to rent a car and drive it? Or maybe it's just not worth the hassle and go ahead with one of the flights to PS??

Be interested to hear from you guys, and I am getting charged up about the trip. ;)

The few times I've been to PS I've flown into LAX and then rented a car to drive to PS. I think if you avoid rush hour you can get to PS in 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The traffic around LAX at rush hour is ferocious, more like a parking lot. And I remember once on the drive back to LA the traffic in the other direction was bumper to bumper for miles whereas I zipped along at 60mph since I was going against the commuter flow. As for trains, forget it. Maybe in the last half of the XXIst century.

There is no reasonable way to get the 125 miles from LAX to PS except by car, and you will probably want a car after you get to PS anyway. Depending on traffic, it takes from two to eight hours. Another alternative is to check flights from Atlanta into Ontario Airport (part of the LA airports system), which is much closer to PS, about 70 miles and an hour drive if the traffic is right. Despite the extra cost, I always fly into PS directly; it's a nice airport, and you land almost downtown, across the street from city hall.

jawjateck you have one great advantage flying to the west coast. Because of the time difference you can select a flight that arrives at LAX early. If you can arrive before noon you can rent a car and be on the road before afternoon traffic become a major problem. The same is true regarding departure. Try to get a flight leaving around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I know that will get you home late but it will work for you here. The drive to Palm Springs is a straight shot and if you have never visited the area there are places to see and visit that will require a car.

Thanks guys for the help. Much appreciated! I am going to book my flights this week. Just this morning, I made an overture to invite someone to join me for the weekend. I'll wait and see if he takes the bait. :)

Well, I am glad to know that pecnsex and jawjateck are coming to the Hooville Weekend. Tickets for the The Ritz are almost sold out*, so please get your payment in soon to hold your seats. We are set to have our largest group in the six years we have been holding the event.

*I bought a block of tickets months ago, and, since the show is only being performed for the one weekend, more tickets may be hard to get. We did get the best seats in the house though!

My collection representative will be at your door this afternoon! He is 22, a former Olympic swimmer, currently modeling for Armani, and single, but, hey, he is a virgin, so don't molest him! :)

The tickets I bought completely sold out, but I was able to get a few more at the theater. The show will sell out, as it only is performed for two nights as a special benefit performance to raise money for the theater. I think I got the best seats, and I did get the group rate, which they have stopped offering for these shows. So we are the lucky ones.

I'm flying into Ontario, CA (ONT) which isn't too bad of a drive from Palm Springs...I would check that out....the fares from DFW are usually $100 cheaper than the PS airport.

Ontario

You can also fly to Ontario, CA and then drive. It's only about an 1.5 hr drive and in on I-10.

Tickets

We have so far held five Hooville theater nights, and the highest crowd we had was 16 people. This year I bought 20 tickets, and then I bought 4 more when those sold. All 24 tickets are now spoken for.

The restaurant we are using is providing us a separate dining area, which can probably accommodate up to 28 people. So we can squeeze some more in if there are still folks who want to come.

Oliver's pool Event on Sunday will be attended by the 24 above, as well as several local men who lurk, and also some local escorts who have been given a special invitation. At least that's what we talked about. Oliver can accomodate a larger crowd, but he does need to know who is coming, so, you must RSVP. The 24 above have all RSVP'd for the whole weekend.

The 13 Hooville guys in New York last Sunday night had a blast at the 20Club, and we are going to do better than that, so if there is a chance that you can make it, time is running out.

Lucky you are such a good organizer. :)

I've gone to Palm Springs a lot of ways, car, train, bus, plane, and some year I'm going to bicycle there.

Someday Metrolink trains may run all the way to Palm Springs but in the meantime there is minimal Amtrak service to Palm Springs. It leaves Los Angeles Union station at 2:30 pm on Sunday Wednesday and Friday. There are very good views and even if the train is late at least you can nap or have a drink.

There is also bus service operated by Crucero through Greyhound. It is not bad. Actually the buses are often faster than driving because of HOV lanes and the El Monte busway.

Of course getting from LAX to Union Station is a breeze using the Flyaway buses which uses the harbor transitway. I've gotten from LAX to union station downtown in 30 minutes, of course if you are getting on the bus at the first terminal then you might spend a lot of time just getting through the airport.

One can also take the Silver Streak from downtown to El Monte and pick up the Palm Springs bus there. Also from Union Station one can of course take Metrolink trains to Riverside and significantly shorten the bus ride.

While most people will prefer to drive I think it is important to know there are alternatives and that if one found themselves unable to drive they can still get there.

How did I miss this?

I somehow missed this back in January and just now have learned about the event. Put me down as "busting my tail" to get there, although I realize I will miss out on the theater.

I have followed this message forum for years and even contributed a time or two, but being way up in the left hand corner of the country and in the air most of the time (that's my job), I don't get to the clubs very often. When I do, I try to report on the visit.

I will keep you posted.

Damn Raul I’m impressed. I was born and have essentially lived my entire life in So Ca and I wouldn’t have a clue how to get to Palm Springs other than by car. I guess that simply proves what many believe – Southern Californians are wedded to their cars.

I made my hotel reservations today. There is some online discounting going on right now, so if any of you guys haven't booked your rooms, now seems to be a good time to do so. I have my flight into Palm Springs and a hotel reservation for 5 nights. I just need to firm up plans with a potential companion for the festivities and I will be all set. By the way, since I will be there for 5 days, I will be accepting ideas on fun things to do, aside from the obvious Hooville agenda items. If there are any locals who want to get together in advance, hang out, have dinner, etc, let me know. I arrive on the Wednesday prior to Hoo-weekend, and leave Monday. I am looking forward to meeting all you guys and gals! I'm gonna have sooooooo much fun!

Well DuchessIvana and Aunt Fancy are kinda girls, well they are men who kinda look like girls. Although, actually Aunt Fancy was actually Vice President of the United States, so that just leaves the Duchess.
