My first post since HooBoy's passing, I wanted to do what I could to help things stay on track and go forward in his memory. I wish he'd gotten to LA, I would've loved to meet him.

 

On to the fun stuff... I have noticed over the last several weeks some more activity in Hollywood, both on SMB and in Numbers (on the night of the last hooville gathering at least, stopped in there a couple of times since to find nothing, guess the key is getting there later in the evening). Still nothing in Spotlight, no surprise, though I've heard I may want to try cruising Selma. These finds have all been the usual: SMB between La Brea and Vine, Lexington's been empty though sometimes there's something on the streets between SMB and Lexington. Other then these I've seen a jock-ish muscled black guy, and for some reason have seen a lot less of the usual drag queens.

 

I have found two hot young lithe latinos on SMB and have been with each multiple times over the last couple weeks. Neither have English as their first language but know enough to get along.

 

One is named Jason, he has a place that he can host (interesting arrangement, I'm kinda curious...). He's very young and good looking (looks at home in the WeHo clubs, but not WeHo prices), first time was amazing, each time since has been less and less impressive, he's not an eager bottom at all but has such a cute face and hot body I kept going back. Probably not again, but others into other things may be pleased... As soon as you finish it tends to be over, no cuddling or multiples there. I have his number and was calling to setup appointments (he was always available when I wanted) but he also started calling me, not the most discrete thing in the world, but he sounded so cute on the phone I didn't mind that much. I never hooked up with him when he called though, I have a thing about unsoliceted sales calls... ;o)

 

The other is named Jesse, not quite as cute but far more willing and passionate in bed, quite verbal, no rush at all. He doesn't live in the area but can host in the MacArthur park area I think (haven't been there). Also had a nice soothing (lacking in technique, sure) massage last time 'between rounds'. Also for those into it, Jesse's nicely hung, thicker then average, he and Jason claimed to be vers...

 

Lately I've been in the mood for a more buff, masculine guy, but I should know by now that *never* works on SMB, I have yet to pick up a guy of that type who'll bottom, last week was no exception, good looking young 21 year old white guy, looked like he could be a little muscular, standing around the taco stand, picked him up but was very concerned he could be a cop, took a couple passes at 'what he likes to do' but didn't get anywhere, got to the motel, he asked to take a shower, I said great, he went in, shut the door, showered, and came out with his clothes back on... at this point I'm still worried he's a cop or looking to rip me off (was carrying a big maglight flashlight, said he'd just gotten off work), but we get on the bed, eventually get his clothes off, nothing special, completely average build, no passion (except for kissing, which would've been great if he hadn't been smoking all day), no personality, kind of a 'lay back and do me' personality, and of course, when I asked him to bottom he 'doesn't do that anymore', I told him that's what I wanted, he wouldn't go for it (and didn't seem interested in anything else) so I said I'd give him half his fee and drop him back on SMB. Sorry, don't remember the name, it wasn't a memorable experience.

 

The motel I've been going to is still the Royal Hawaiian, it's south of SMB (can feel like quite a way if traffic's heavy) on La Brea, just past Venice on the left side after a Taco Bell. As I've mentioned before it's been redone, and it's still very cheap, $20 gets you two hours. They require an ID to check in. The rooms are always clean, no odd odors or anything, but for some reason sometimes the floor is damp (with all the rain it's not like a shower mishap or carpet cleaning would be able to evaporate... this place is fairly well run so they may actually do carpet cleaning, I keep telling myself that... ;o). They also have one channel of straight porn, usually pretty good stuff if you like that kind of thing.

All that said, I do want to repeat the usual warnings, cruising for hustlers can be very dangerous, many of the guys are into drugs and that makes them pretty unstable... even worse, LAPD has a huge presence down there and will seize your car if you get caught saying the wrong thing to the wrong guy. Craig's List is safer (though LE has been known to haunt there as well) and of course a reviewed escort from this board is the safest. Be careful out there.

James, I'm too far away (Montreal) to take you up on your kind offer to share the wealth, so to speak, but I enjoy your posts on cruising the streets of LA since many moons ago I was doing the same. I had a few mishaps along the way, the worst was being robbed of $150 in my wallet as I slept in the motel room (it was the Coral Sands in Hollywood) but that was my mistake for snoozing after some incredible sex. At least the guy had the decency not to steal my credit cards and he actually left a $1 bill which I found sorta funny (I used it to buy a coffee in the morning).

 

BTW, I had picked up this guy in a levi and leather type bar with pool tables (can't remember the name on SMB quite a bit east of the WEHO bars;maybe it's gone by now).

 

We did have an LA type experience here in Montreal last night as we experienced a 5.4 earthquake at 1:15 in the morning which shook me awake to the rattling in my bedroom. I knew right away it was a quake as it lasted about 10 seconds. I had just sent an escort home 45 minutes earlier and turned in for the night. At least for me, the earth moved beneath me twice last night!!!

Hooked up with Jesse again last night, guess I have to retract my previous complaint that you can never find the same guy more then once anymore. He says there are a lot of cops out though, making things hard (in a bad way).

About the cruise, the first pass was absolutly empty, so I went the long way around and checked out a tip there may also be some action on Selma, nothing there either and no parking near Spotlight.

Are you not afraid of having your car confiscated? I realy don't understand how they get away with that - but it's a risk I would not be willing to take regardless of how good the ass looked.

I am very concerned about that, but it isn't a worry when I'm picking up somebody I've already had fun with...

 

It's also a little less of a concern with young, little, slightly effeminate latinos who only speak some english (or for that matter any race of scrawny guys showing real street/drug wear and tear, especially if I've seen them out there several times... though by that point I'm usually not interested). But when I pick up slightly older, more buff guys (such as the white guy mentioned in this thread) my caution is probably a large part of why these encounters turn out unfulfilling. I'm *very* careful what I say until I know he's not a cop, as such I often don't find out "oh, I don't bottom" 'till we're both naked, have kissid and fondled each other on the bed in the no-tell... GRR, but better then risking them taking my car.

 

As has been said many times, hiring from the board or craigslist is safer and you're more likely to know you'll get what you want. Some of us are hooked on the instant gratification, possibly the danger a little bit, and most importantly the chance that we'll find someone amazing, fresh, and get everything we can imagine for quite a bargain. As Judy Tenuta used to say, "It could happen.".

What happens if one does not use a car to pick up a guy, for instance if you park your car find one and are on foot and do not use your car to transport, or in a taxi? If there is no car involved then what would the police act upon to stop the solicitaion?

Good question Trav.

 

I simply cannot understand how the law allows them to do this. If you're driving an old beater worth $300 - you loose your $300 car.

If you're driving a new Bently worth $200,000 do you loose this too?

 

My understanding is "yes". I'm surprised some of the wealthier johns who have been ripped off by the LAPD have not sued - or have they, and lost?

 

Guess the moral of the story is we all should keep a spare old beater, just for cruising, and chalk the loss up to the cost of doing business.

So you could use a bicycle to arrange a meeting elsewhere, or maybe have a rider seat on back of the bike for the hustler. Let the police take an older beater of a bke, might be a bit embarrasing to them, but then the LAPD seems to always have an embarrasing moments.

I've said a couple times the city bus may be the perfect way to pickup hustlers... large picture windows to look out of, its expected to drive slowly and expected to stop where all the hustlers hang out, no danger of getting distracted and driving into the car in front of you...

 

Don't think the boys would be too enthusiastic about a john on the bus though.

 

A taxi driver may be in danger of loosing his cab, and argument could be made he was an accessory... probably not, but the whole law is bullshit and arbitrarily applied, so who knows.

I just spent a couple of hours researching this. It really is arbitrary. Recently the LAPD did a sting, and charged people $650 to retrieve their vehicles. But, according to city law, they could have kept them and sold at auction. It appears that the US Supreme Court has upheld previous state laws regarding this. Scary.

As I was driving west on Santa Monica Blvd. last night, I saw a very hot guy waiting at the bus stop where Highland intersects. He was wearing a skin tight blue t-shirt. I looked to see if he made eye contact, which he did, but the light changed and I moved on. Driving through a couple nights ago, around 10PM on a weeknight, I was surprised how many working guys were out.

 

What's with the MacArthur park area? I met yet another working guy who lives there (took him all the way back to his place, wow, it made Royal Hawiian look downright regal and he was a very forgettable experience too). But next time SMB cycles back down to nothing I think I may consider cruising that area, buy factory direct, as it were...

I've cruised SMB two more times since my last posting...

 

A couple weeks ago I picked up a guy BGP and I had noticed on our way to the HooVille gathering... it was kinda strange. I guess it was my first experience with somebody that's just fallen that far into the street life. This guy had damn near model looks (I'd say imagine Kristian before he put on all the muscle) and a very nice body, but here he was working SMB across from Tomkat (hadn't seen anybody up that far in a while) and down near Cauhunga. Didn't seem too drugged up either (not into Crystal, YET...). Unfortunately he wasn't quite into what I wanted (he doesn't bottom and uses condoms even for oral) but still it was at the least a very interesting time. I did what I could to point him off the street before he's ruined (told him about HooBoy's, Numbers, Craig's list, etc) but kind of doubt he'll follow up on it. He was good looking enough that maybe he'll get really lucky and get picked up by a sugardaddy, but it was the way he was expecting it (just like street "boys" who've been working it for 20 years and look 40 years older for it) that worried me. I didn't really feel like cruising for a couple weeks after that encounter.

 

Last night I did, decided to shake things up and started at Numbers just to see what was there, got a great parking spot and the place was crowded, Unfortunately the only working guy was the asian(/latin?) guy with the goatee I'd been warned about. So headed east on SMB... even around 8 the street was surprisingly busy, on my very first pass I was surprised to see three interesting looking guys on a bus bench at Orange (eastbound side of the street for a change) but they'd scattered by the time I circled back... pursued one and got a bit of a surprise, saw him at a corner, by the time I go around the block he's being frisked and I have to go around a police car... Needless to say that put a bit of a damper on the enthusiasm.

 

Took another pass then I ended up at Spotlight, don't know what it was last night but I also got a great parking spot (free, even!) and was surprised at how busy the place was. Hot doorman, pretty decent brownies and muffins on the bar for some reason, several of the really hot guys playing pool and hanging out in the back (who only seem interested in their trannie girlfriends), a working guy or three but nothing to salivate over. One sat next to me, tried to start up a conversation, I was interested in his look (though couldn't tell much with the loose clothes) but not the conversation, eventually he wandered off. I looked around again, utterly failed to catch the eye of any of the pool players, and asked him if wanted to go someplace. Took him to Royal Hawaiian of course.

 

Said he was Puerto Rican, goes by Johnnie, only been here from New York for a couple months, about 30, good body, maybe about 6' or so, not especially muscled or defined (but not bad), unfortunately into Crystal but it wasn't too intrusive in our session. It was ok but I wouldn't hire him again, do these boys actually think it's a good thing they haven't slept in 3 days? I specifically wanted to try something new but I'd have been happier with Jesse. More uninteresting conversation on the way back, and we talked about the Spotlight a little, big revelation: almost all the "boys" in there are into Crystal... (/sarcasm), he seemed to be near the end of his 'fall', no ID, looks well over 30 especially without the sunglasses and hat, he told me about Numbers and said he goes there occasionally, I'd never have paid Numbers rates though...

 

Am I just morose lately or are interactions with streetboys increasingly depressing?

 

Took another pass around 11:30 on my way out, think I saw 1 or 2 guys (nothing interesting though I wasn't looking) and a drag queen.

From everything I've heard the 'going rate' at Numbers is $200 (plus drinks and often an expensive meal), though I'm not sure exactly how much that gets you... I've seen a lot of working guys leave with somebody only to be back 30 minutes or so later... And there are often guys at Numbers that think they're worth $300 or so...

 

So the rates are basically LA Hooville-listed escort's rates, with much less selection and probably less satisfaction, but instant gratification (IF you can find a working guy you're interested in who's looking to WORK instead of hang out...).

Yesterday...

 

Got together with a couple friends for brunch in WeHo yesterday, cruised before and after, didn't see a damn thing out, and I did see quite a few cops, I think they cracked down again.

Went to spotlight, nothing interesting, went and saw a movie, came back, nothing interesting obviously working but there was this fucking HOT guy playing pool, watched him for a while, never caught his eye or had any reason to believe he was working, but damn he would have been fun...

 

Went back on the cruise, spotted Jesse, picked him up and took him to the Royal Hawaiian... While I'd love to find a straping masc jock-ish looking guy (like that Pool player...) willing to do what I like, I really couldn't be better taken care of then Jesse! 3 times... Gave him $120, and that seems to be considered generous!
