DYNO mite. As far as being walkers, the best thing about Derek and Rick, is that they look great walking toward you and fantastic walking away.

By the way, I now know more about Rochelle Rochelle than I ever wanted to know.

The English word courtesan comes from the French, courtisan, which has a feminine equivalent, courtisane.

But the French words, courtisan/courtisane, have very different meanings because one refers to a man, the other to a woman. And the old double standard applies, since the male term is not necessarily derogatory, but the female always is.

A courtisan is a man who is accepted at the king's court, i.e. generally an aristocrat. By extension it can also mean a flatterer, but not a prostitute.

A courtisane, on the other hand, is a woman who gives sexual favors in return for money, luxurious living or some kind of remuneration. A kept woman, who lives off a richer, more powerful man.

I don't think there is much, if any, precedent for using the term "courtesan" to mean a man who prostitutes himself. Even for a woman, one usually only encounters it in historical literature or -- most often -- at the opera. Of course it might be used ironically to describe a politician's mistress, for example.

For a man, it sounds much more pejorative and sarcastic than "escort" imo.

Sheeesh! I'm sorry I ever used the word. :( I was only trying to convey that certain escorts are a cut (or uncut }( ) above others.

>"I want you to be my fucking hole. Bring that tight hole over here and ride my cock."

>"I want to suck your juicy cock, you hunky piece of meat."

>"Give me your sweet pink ass so I can lick it with my tongue."

I choose all of the above and a few others. :9 I promise not to use "that" word.

What hotels do you favor in Vegas?

Pierrot has described the use of the term courtesan very well. The name that comes to mind for the twentieth century is Pamela Churchill Harriman, Bill Clinton's choice for ambassador to France. Here was a lady born to an impoverished minor noble family in Britain, married the dissolute son of the famous wartime British leader, Winston Churchill, dumped him for a Hollywood chap (star agent William Hayward) with more money and flash, and when he died, married Averell Harriman. During this entire period she granted sexual favors to the rich and famous such as Gianni Agnelli of Fiat fame in Italy and the Aga Khan of legendary status. They showered gifts and money on her even when she was married to these other guys. Just an amazing act!

Landing at the top of the heap of "old" American money, she used it to further her political ambitions to be the confidante of the powerful men who ran America. And she succeeded beyond her wildest dreams! She became the hostess with the mostest in '80's and '90's Washington, which was no mean feat given that Harriman was a Democrat and the '80's were relentlessly Republican. She still cut a swath that was not matched by anyone else. Of course, in the process, she dissipated the Harriman fortune, a cautionary tale if ever there was one for other wealthy men (and especially their heirs) who fall for women of this type.

Epigonos, you are old enough to remember when gay just meant "happy" to the general public (as am I), but it was in use within the homosexual community long before our day.

In Vegas? The Wynn, Skylofts at MGM, The Signature and the 'Dream Suites' at The Palms.

While Las Vegas is a hotbed for making friends within the hotel hierarchy, cities like Chicago, LA, NYC and Miami have also served me well. Pressing a little flesh never hurts ;)

Hmm. Speaking of head and Judah Zachary, wonder if he would spit or swallow? :7

Konstantine Sotnikov is a good example of the male model of the courtesan class. He hooked up with several powerful men in Palm Beach who succumbed to his beauty and sensousness and the son of Lisa Voice the heiress to a London real estate fortune and a major layer in music publishing in the UK. He wasn't as adept as Mrs. Harriman in playing the hand dealt her in life and he is now the property of a Russian ice queen expatriate in Miami who has had him branded with a bar code for easy retrieval.

ROFL

Too much caffeine today, plus this image of Aristede -- now I'm hallucinating Grayson Hall replaying her "Night of the Iguana" role in the character of Magda!

RE: Teleological argument

Rod--not sure about the names used by the fellow who first started the thread BUT there are such people as I too have met some THROUGH more visible working guys--Todd Dillon who has retired now had introduced me to some folks from his acting class who NEVER EVER appeared on the internet and charged closer to $500 an hour and also TJ/Scott Anthony also introed me to some folks (also in LA)--similarly priced--mostly people who either A) trying to build an acting career OR had one but it is now basically over and need to maintain a lifestyle--there are 3 of these guys who I have been with that I have NEVER seen advertised anywhere and whose names do not show up as escorts and they ONLY get business through referals and Todd and TJ only introed me to them (not the same people) AFTER I had been a long term client of theirs--i.e. I had already known them and saw them often for over a year before they said I have a friend you might like who.....PLUS more urband legendy BUT I have a friend who barked up this pole who is not prone to exaggeration--a very attractive ex-real world guy (MTV very early years) in NYC descretely sells his wares--- worksout at a the gay Crunch downtown...Blu

Oops! Sorry guys, just one of the hoi polloi here. I was looking for a plain old-fashioned BJ, or maybe a good thumping, and wandered in by mistake. Please carry on. I'll show myself out. :)

Not so much for the real kinky stuff but, hey, we all come here to learn! :9

A "courtesan" by any other name is still a Hustler, Working Man, Escort, ####, Prostitute by any euphemism you choose. Courtesan is anachronistic and makes me think of Camille coughing away from consumption.
