samhexum Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago A large appliance is no small purchase. Here's how to find one that's reliable, energy-efficient, and more https://apple.news/AhmlWLHqgTFGf_z4oTE8xaw
samhexum Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago (edited) "Whirlpool is a brand that has appeared in several of our roundups of large appliances, often in the best value slot. Even picks that win in another category, like the Whirlpool freezer that earned the best large-capacity superlative, are consistently priced lower than many of the other appliances on the list." XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I needed to replace my fridge a number of years back and bought a Whirlpool specifically for the size of the freezer. At the time I ate a lot of prepackaged frozen foods and when there was a sale, I would buy large amounts and my freezer wound up better organized than what I found in most supermarkets. Now I hardly ever buy frozen food, but I make things like soup, pot roast, and baked ziti, and I freeze them in individual portions. I also tend to buy family sized packages of pork chops and chicken wings and then break them up into individual portions and freeze them, so my freezer is still usually jampacked. I was so meticulous about finding the largest possible freezer that when they delivered it, they had to take the doors off to fit through the doorway of my kitchen, and there was a grand total of 3/8 of an inch clearance on the sides of it to get it through the doorway (the specifications were in the ad and I got down on my hands and knees with a ruler to measure precisely) and then when they pushed it into place, there was approximately a half an inch between the top of it and the bottom of the cabinets above it. (again , I had measured) By the way, I got it from Home Depot and they have the policy (or at least they used to) that they would beat any competitor's price. I found a small chain in New Jersey that had three outlets and was advertising that they were about to open a fourth, that had the same model I wanted for a fair amount less than Home Depot had it and I brought in the ad and the person in the appliance department didn't want to give me that price because he said their guarantee applied to reasonable competitors like Lowe's not little mom and pop stores, so I went to customer service explained everything to the person there and he picked up the phone, called the appliance department and told the guy to give me that price. Here's what my freezer looked like last year when Stop & Shop was having a clearance sale because they were ending their delivery service. They needed to clear out their warehouses, so many things were ridiculously reduced. A few of the items in here were things that I ordered for a friend of mine and later gave to her: Edited 11 hours ago by samhexum to include additional fascinating verbosity
nomad Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Depot will do a lot of things if you just complain and ask. I know someone who on purpose tears part of the box of anything they buy there and demands a 10% damaged discount. They have always given it to him. He has no shame and doesn't care.
