What person would tattoo the word LOSER on his chest and then over write the S with a red V?

It’s in reference to imagery from the 2017 movie “It.” One of the characters has loser written on his cast and he writes the v over the s. Maybe the book, imagery, or significance of the scene means something important to the provider.
